Climate Change Is Not Causing Inflation

Original Article

A recent study in the journal Nature: Communications Earth and Environment claims climate change is contributing to price inflation. The study’s authors say they found climate change harms economic productivity and food production, leading to higher prices. They examined more than 27,000 monthly consumer price index data points around the globe. I can’t begin to describe all the ways this claim is not just outright false but is misleading in a manner clearly intended to motivate restrictions on fossil fuel production and use, policies which would in fact increase energy prices, harm food production, and result in lost jobs, higher prices, and lower incomes.

As Milton Friedman said many years ago: inflation is always, and everywhere, caused by government.

A short list of all of the tragic things alleged to be caused by "climate change": Earthquakes, volcanoes, killer tides, increased prostitution, famine, floods, drought, heat waves and cold snaps (all at the same time), sinking islands and cities, (seen any yet?), racism (of course), erosion, polar bears and grizzlies cross-breeding, deforestation (despite proof that the earth is getting greener), lower intelligence (they may have something here, at least for some people), inflation, deflation and consternation, and the only effect proven to be true, a venal, corrupt and lying media.

Not quite true. Climate Change is a 'convenient excuse' for out of control government spending. They're saving the planet! How noble! How altruistic! Now everybody pat them on the back and tell them what good people they are.

Climate Change is NOT HAPPENING. And even if it was happening, it has zero effect on inflation. Inflation is 100%, ALWAYS and FOREVER, a government phenomenon when they create money out of thin air faster than the economy is naturally expanding.

The woman tasked with running the homeownership program for a Detroit nonprofit and helping people avoid losing their homes to foreclosure was named in a federal complaint for her role in stealing dozens of properties. Zina Thomas, 60, of Detroit, was charged in a fraud scheme by the U.S. Attorney's Office, a release from the department said Wednesday. Prior to her arrest, she served as director of Homeownership Programs for the United Community Housing Coalition in Detroit. The nonprofit provides housing assistance to the city's low-income residents. Thomas used her position as director to coordinate with other individuals to steal 30 properties across Wayne County.

The so-called feminist group deleted a controversial post on X from March 31. It claimed that anyone who objected to biological men who wished to identify as women and compete in sports against real women was “white supremacist patriarchy at work.” (snip) NOW’s post should, undoubtedly, be the metaphorical nail in the coffin for the contemporary hyperbolic hysteria associated with the words “white supremacy” and “patriarchy.”

San Francisco Bill Would Let People Sue

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is considering a remarkable policy that would allow people to sue grocery stores that close too quickly. Earlier this week, Supervisors Dean Preston and Aaron Peskin introduced an ordinance that, if passed, would require grocery stores to provide six months' written notice to the city before closing down. Supermarket operators would also have to make "good faith" efforts to ensure the continued availability of groceries at their shuttered location, either through finding a successor store, helping residents form a grocery co-op, or any other plan they might work out by meeting with city and neighborhood residents.

An environmentalist nonprofit that seeks to cut carbon emissions and promote clean energy is suing to stop the Biden administration from funding a zero-emission power plant. The Department of Energy (DOE) announced in January that it had approved a $1.1 billion credit payment to the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, a nuclear facility on the central California coast, to provide the plant with a path to avoid its planned shutdown in 2025. Though nuclear power plants produce negligible carbon emissions, Friends of the Earth (FOE), a group seeking to reduce carbon emissions, filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block the DOE’s funding,

That means steak should be cooked well done and eggs with runny yolks should be avoided. Even salad dressings like Caesar can be a risk due to being made with raw eggs, he said. "G*d d*mn America!" was the first and only serious crisis of Barack Obama's ascension to the Democrats' presidential nomination in 2008. Obama's longtime pastor, Jeremiah Wright of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, said those words repeatedly in an infamous videotaped sermon. In an earlier age, a presidential contender sitting still and keeping his mouth shut during years of sermons like Wright's would have torpedoed Obama's presidential ambitions. Anyone from the early GenX cohort and older thought there was a non-zero chance Obama might be toast. Anyone younger — largely denied the Civics classes prior generations were raised on and spoonfed "America is bad, mmkay?" lessons — knew better.
