Residents of Virginia Beach, one of the few areas in Virginia to choose Joe Biden for president in 2020, are upset over the construction of wind turbines. Complaints range from noise and vibrations caused by the 24/7 construction project to the destruction of ocean views and possible negative effects on marine life. On Wednesday, Virginia Beach residents met with Dominion Energy, the company installing 178 wind turbines 900 feet high across 15 miles of ocean. The local news outlet News 3 reported that after the meeting, residents still “have concerns regarding the construction noise, environmental damage, and ocean views.” The complaints came down to… Construction noise, which is 24/7

You would think with a heavy active duty and retired military presence that the residents would've voted for the guy who supported them and wouldn't turn what they stand for into a social experiment. I know since I lived there nearly 2 decades ago. They should've known that democrat presidents as a rule don't give a you know what about the military. Name me one who did. So sorry VA Beach peoples you are now reaping what you've sown. Enjoy.

We drove back to KC from central Colorado about a week ago. It was a very windy day, probably 25 mph steady, gusting higher. ALL the damned windmills were shut down. They can't run in any kind of even moderately high winds, and they don't make much power below their design speed. WIndmills have a very narrow range of wind speeds that they can use because the power in the wind is a cube function of wind speed. High winds quickly will overload the turbines. And they are eyesores and create low frequency repetative sounds "whomp-whomp-whomp" all the time they are running. They will drive you nuts from a mile or two away. Did I mention that they ruin the view and are ugly?

It is very easy to find fentanyl in New York. The drug that in 2022 alone killed nearly 110,000 Americans is readily available right here on the streets of this city. Over the past the year I’ve been investigating the spread of this lethal drug across this country. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid which has a potency many hundreds of times that of morphine. Largely made in China, its strength means that it is easy to transport huge quantities of the drug. It floods into this country, mainly through Mexico. One recent evening in New York I headed over to OnPoint – a supervised drug injection site in Washington Heights.

McDonald's was once seen as an affordable spot to eat out but for many Americans it's meals have become a luxury. In just 10 years, the average cost of a selection of its top menu items has doubled, according to a new study. Some items cost three times as much. That is more than three times the official rate of inflation - the cost of goods has risen just 31 percent since 2014, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Then, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal and an Oreo McFlurry would set you back less than $8. Now, that combo would cost more than twice that at about $16.50.

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., recognized as the country’s largest producer of fresh eggs, announced on Tuesday that it has temporarily suspended operations at one of its major facilities located in Parmer County, Texas. This drastic measure comes in the wake of a detected outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The outbreak has led to the culling of approximately 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets. This action represents about 3.6% of Cal-Maine Foods’ total flock as of early March 2024, marking a significant loss for the company and the egg industry as a whole.

It's fitting that just two days before this speech, the president repeated a tall tale about being raised by the Puerto Rican community.

A bird flu pandemic could be '100 times worse than Covid' and kill up to half of everyone it infects, experts have warned — as the White House says it is 'monitoring' the situation. Speaking at a briefing, virus researchers said the H5N1 strain of bird flu may now be getting 'dangerously close' to triggering a pandemic. Multiple cases of the infection in a variety of mammals, including cows, cats and, more recently, humans, are all raising the risk of the virus mutating to become more transmissible, they said.

I was born in the 1960s, just about the time people decided it was bad for children to be born. Oh, I don’t take it personally. It’s just people started to worry about a “population explosion.” Thanks to antibiotics, vaccines, mosquito eradication and better farming, people weren’t dying off as they had been. But they were still having babies. This led to more people. And quite a few folks — themselves already born — thought that was bad. Israel has not commented on the strike but is widely believed to be responsible having carried out numerous strikes similar to this one in the region. But Iran has warned that the US must also be held accountable despite the fact Washington has said it played no role in the attack.
