Prices at fast food restaurants increased at a rate that far exceeds inflation over the last decade, according to a new analysis from FinanceBuzz.
According to the newly released data, leading fast food restaurants increased prices by about 60% between 2014 and 2024. That is nearly double the rate of inflation.
According to the consumer price index, the general cost of goods and services has gone up 31% in the past decade.
The data shows that prices have doubled at McDonald's over that time. FinanceBuzz noted that the average price of a McDouble increased from $1.19 in 2014 to $3.19 currently.

I’m old, but my kids and their friends are not. At sport events and such I overhear people saying it is cheaper to take their families to a sit down restaurant than a fast food place. Burn this demographic and they won’t be back. The big fast coporations have got to be seeing this in their bottom line.

Im guessing they'll double again .. but in much less than 10 years.
Imold enough to remember when the Big Mac came out .. at 49 cents. And before then, when McD said you could eat for under a dollar-'- burger, fries and a drink.

I remember 10 cent burgers and 12 cent cheeseburgers. I haven't been to McDonald's in years.

When I was in High School seniors could go out for lunch. You get get a cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake for a $1. I now go to McDonald's two or three times a year. I have to admit their fries are yummy if they are right out of the fryer.

#6 Always ask for fries right out of the fryer.
I used to go to the Burger King near me. The manager changed and I had a bad experience with the current manager. I don't need to go back. Chic-fil-A just opened near here.

Wendy's is especially bad-- $12-something for a chicken sandwich and fries... and then they get your order wrong.

The only fast food I've had in 30 years is Checkers and that was maybe 3 times.

Like McDonald's or not, food has nearly doubled everywhere in 3 years. Now $20 min wage in CA. Wait for it everywhere. McDonald's is just ahead of the curve.

We used to stop a McDs for meals on our many cross country trips. I'd get a salad, small burger, and their yogurt parfait with fruit.
For the Dempanic they shut down their dining rooms. After they opened up, they had eliminated their salads and the parfait.
Haven't been in one since, don't plan to ever go back.

Yes, inflation has caused food prices to skyrocket but I believe McDonald’s are still gouging people especially for their breakfast items. Their breakfast sandwiches cost about the same as a Big Mac now. Hashbrowns went from $1 to $3.25. Breakfast has always been their biggest profit but these prices are going to hurt them in the long run.

Not long ago, maybe a month, I got an Egg McMuffin meal, it was a little over $7. I stopped in last week for one and it is now over $8.

All three of the national burger chains followed a similar pattern and I dropped them all years ago. It's too easy to grill a much better burger at home and costs way less. KFC was also on the hit list.

After looking at a sausage biscuit, I decided that I would not be eating at McDonald's. I believe it was not really sausage. I don't know what it was. Lots of bits of fat. No thanks.

We thought about having McDonald's on Saturday. I saw the prices and ordered buns and ground beef from Walmart instead.

Our church hands out $10 Chik-Fil-A gift cards to single moms at an abortion mill since most of them have traveled hours to get there and often don't have money for food. It used to cover a lunch - no longer.
