Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has described being on the highest court in the land as living in frustration, saying that every loss the liberal justices face “traumatises” her.
As one of the three liberal justices on the court, Justice Sotomayor and her colleagues can typically anticipate they will be outnumbered when deciding cases. Over the last few years, rulings around issues of abortion rights, LGBT+ rights and racial equality have swung in conservatives’ favour.
“Every loss truly traumatises me in my stomach and in my heart,” Justice Sotomayor said on Monday while speaking with students at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

How bizarre. How can she "lose"? A Supreme Court justice isn't supposed to be on a side, other than that of the Constitution. If she has a "side" in any case she should recuse herself from judging it. This statement of hers should get her kicked of the bench. Truly outrageous.

SO RETIRE. Who's forcing you to stay? Better yet, why don't you wait till PDT is back in the White House like RBG did, so he can replaced you with another conservative justice? The wise Latina, my foot! If you were as wise as the MSM touted you to be, you'd've voted to close the border.

Sotomayor's remarks display her utter ignorance of the work of SCOTUS. It is not supposed to be a super legislature, to decide cases according to the justices' opinions, or according to popular opinion. SCOTUS is supposed to take a controversy of national interest, apply constitutional law to the facts of the case, and make a ruling based on law. The "wise Latina" does not think, she feels.

Get over your emotional liberal self and do your job. You are to judge cases based on the Constitution, not your emotions, racial outlook, sexual orientation, or political philosophy. Don't whine that your need to look at cases during the summer. If you want summers off leave the Supreme Court and become a Law Professor. Better yet, retire and save yourself the trauma of having to make hard decisions. Everyday, people are required to make difficult decisions that they may not necessarily personally agree with but acknowledge that they are the correct decisions based on established rules and/or policies. Being a Judge is the same thing that uses the Constitution as a guide.

She seems to be telling everyone she is not an unbiased arbiter of the Constitution.
However, nearly all of the changes over the years have been rendered based on the Constitution, except a few egregious opinions (i.e. Plessy v Ferguson). Roe would be another since it seemingly found some "right to privacy" but then never seemed to extend that Right to Privacy for other things like people's right to not be filmed, recorded, spied upon, etc... Even RBG had her doubts on the validity of Roe.
Supreme Court justices and other judges should be basing their decision on whether it's Constitutional, and not how they would hope things could, or should, be in their view.

Can anyone, ANYONE, imagine Antonin Scalia or even his best buddy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg whining and saying anything like this?
Sotomayor is not Supreme Court material. By her own admission, in her book, she admits she cannot write. How totally obnoxious when asked about how she can work with the conservatives on the court, she answers, I try to look for the best in everyone. The answer to that is all of her colleagues are good and smart and I am proud to work with them all. I worked with Sonia in the late 1980s and early 1990s and I don't remember her being this obtuse. She wasn't Scalia material, but she was not this embarrassing.
But, the best day in Sonia's life, was when the demented Biden, appointed the nitwit Ketanji Brown, who is staggeringly incapable of defining a woman because she is not a biologist. Like everything else, democrats have turned the United States Supreme Court into a joke.

Such a great response, #3. The SCOTUS is there to INTERPRET the law. I would expect disagreements to be part of the process. In the case below, the majority held "The First Amendment prohibits Colorado from forcing a website designer to create expressive designs speaking messages with which the designer disagrees. Pp. 6–26."
303 CREATIVE LLC v. ELENIS is explained at the link below. Sotomayor's dissent is also explained.

Aww, she has a case of the FEELZ.
What liberal lawyers like her fail to understand is that law, as SHE thinks it should be, is worthless because it has no permanence. The next judge that comes along could make a different decision.
To be enduring, laws are hard to make and difficult to change. It requires the majority of a legislature and a president in concordance.
Justices are around to review laws to see if they fit in our Constitutional framework and to resolve idiosyncrasies and sloppiness in the law. They are not there to MAKE new law but instead toss unconstitutional laws out and polish, if possible, poorly made law.
The pushback against Sotomayor's type of jurisprudence is one of the best things happening in government.

Should Justice Sotomayor voice her opinions in the public sqaure? I would think that is bad form for a Supreme Court Justice, though it is becoming harder to remember what is "good form" for anything lately.
