Justice Sotomayor says she’s ‘traumatised’
by Supreme Court losses

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has described being on the highest court in the land as living in frustration, saying that every loss the liberal justices face “traumatises” her. As one of the three liberal justices on the court, Justice Sotomayor and her colleagues can typically anticipate they will be outnumbered when deciding cases. Over the last few years, rulings around issues of abortion rights, LGBT+ rights and racial equality have swung in conservatives’ favour. “Every loss truly traumatises me in my stomach and in my heart,” Justice Sotomayor said on Monday while speaking with students at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

How bizarre. How can she "lose"? A Supreme Court justice isn't supposed to be on a side, other than that of the Constitution. If she has a "side" in any case she should recuse herself from judging it. This statement of hers should get her kicked of the bench. Truly outrageous.

Sotomayor's remarks display her utter ignorance of the work of SCOTUS. It is not supposed to be a super legislature, to decide cases according to the justices' opinions, or according to popular opinion. SCOTUS is supposed to take a controversy of national interest, apply constitutional law to the facts of the case, and make a ruling based on law. The "wise Latina" does not think, she feels.

Get over your emotional liberal self and do your job. You are to judge cases based on the Constitution, not your emotions, racial outlook, sexual orientation, or political philosophy. Don't whine that your need to look at cases during the summer. If you want summers off leave the Supreme Court and become a Law Professor. Better yet, retire and save yourself the trauma of having to make hard decisions. Everyday, people are required to make difficult decisions that they may not necessarily personally agree with but acknowledge that they are the correct decisions based on established rules and/or policies. Being a Judge is the same thing that uses the Constitution as a guide.

She seems to be telling everyone she is not an unbiased arbiter of the Constitution. However, nearly all of the changes over the years have been rendered based on the Constitution, except a few egregious opinions (i.e. Plessy v Ferguson). Roe would be another since it seemingly found some "right to privacy" but then never seemed to extend that Right to Privacy for other things like people's right to not be filmed, recorded, spied upon, etc... Even RBG had her doubts on the validity of Roe. Supreme Court justices and other judges should be basing their decision on whether it's Constitutional, and not how they would hope things could, or should, be in their view.

Can anyone, ANYONE, imagine Antonin Scalia or even his best buddy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg whining and saying anything like this? Sotomayor is not Supreme Court material. By her own admission, in her book, she admits she cannot write. How totally obnoxious when asked about how she can work with the conservatives on the court, she answers, I try to look for the best in everyone. The answer to that is all of her colleagues are good and smart and I am proud to work with them all. I worked with Sonia in the late 1980s and early 1990s and I don't remember her being this obtuse. She wasn't Scalia material, but she was not this embarrassing. But, the best day in Sonia's life, was when the demented Biden, appointed the nitwit Ketanji Brown, who is staggeringly incapable of defining a woman because she is not a biologist. Like everything else, democrats have turned the United States Supreme Court into a joke.

Such a great response, #3. The SCOTUS is there to INTERPRET the law. I would expect disagreements to be part of the process. In the case below, the majority held "The First Amendment prohibits Colorado from forcing a website designer to create expressive designs speaking messages with which the designer disagrees. Pp. 6–26." 303 CREATIVE LLC v. ELENIS is explained at the link below. Sotomayor's dissent is also explained. https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/21-476

Aww, she has a case of the FEELZ. What liberal lawyers like her fail to understand is that law, as SHE thinks it should be, is worthless because it has no permanence. The next judge that comes along could make a different decision. To be enduring, laws are hard to make and difficult to change. It requires the majority of a legislature and a president in concordance. Justices are around to review laws to see if they fit in our Constitutional framework and to resolve idiosyncrasies and sloppiness in the law. They are not there to MAKE new law but instead toss unconstitutional laws out and polish, if possible, poorly made law. The pushback against Sotomayor's type of jurisprudence is one of the best things happening in government.

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump's federal election interference trial in Washington, D.C., will no longer begin on March 4, Judge Tanya Chutkan wrote in a court order released Friday. It is unclear when exactly the trial will now start, but the case has been on pause for nearly two months — Trump's team requested a stay on Dec. 7, and it was granted on Dec. 13 —which would mean the soonest the trial could start would likely be late April or early May. In a previous order, Chutkan reiterated that a total of seven months was "sufficient time" for Trump to prepare for trial, not including the time the

The United States launched attacks in the Iraq and Syria on Friday, its first retaliatory strikes for the killing of three American soldiers, according to an official at the Department of Defense. Fox News host Dagen McDowell warned Republicans not to run on the economy in the upcoming election because “it’s good” right now. Recently, Democrats have credited President Joe Biden for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 index hitting record heights. Moreover, the labor market grew exponentially in January as the U.S. added more than 350,000 jobs.

On Friday, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson (R-LA) mused about the possibility of something that is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day: Joe Biden isn't the guy in charge in Washington. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) speculated Friday that President Biden’s staff is keeping him from taking executive action to stem the flow of migrants on the southern border. “He knows that he has the authority. We’ve documented it for him. I’ve read to him the law myself — to the president. Read him the provisions of the law and said, ‘Mr. President, please take action,’” Johnson said

Four of the migrants cut loose without bail after allegedly ganging up on two NYPD cops near Times Square may be on the run, The Post has learned. Cops believe the group could have hopped on a bus bound for California on Wednesday after giving phony names to a church-affiliated nonprofit group that helps migrants get rides out of the city, according to law enforcement sources. The four accused cop-attackers believed to have skipped town were charged with assault on a police officer and obstruction immediately after the shocking, caught-on-video attack Saturday in Midtown.

[T]he priority now for the White House must be to strengthen its military presence in the region, not reduce it. Worse, the vacuum created by any withdrawal by US troops is sure to be filled by adversaries of America and the free world. Any US withdrawal is sure to be seen, especially after the US surrender in Afghanistan, as America running away -- again. [I]t would be folly of the highest order for the Biden administration even to contemplate a reduction of US forces in the region. With Iran clearly intent on pursuing its proxy war against the US and its allies,

Elon Musk weighed in on Joe Biden’s agenda. News broke in January that Joe Biden will prioritize legal status for millions of illegal immigrants in the United States. This comes after Joe Biden opened the borders and allowed over 10 million illegals from over a hundred countries to invade the United States. Republicans are still too afraid to impeach Biden for this criminal act. The AP reported: President-elect Joe Biden’s decision to immediately ask Congress to offer legal status to an estimated 11 million people in the country has surprised advocates given how the issue has long divided Democrats and Republicans, even within their own parties.
