Yes, this is real. I doubted that it was when I saw it online, but I went to YouTube to find the original video, and it is indeed taken from the video feed of the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting on January 16th. Washoe County’s capital is Reno, NV. The invocation was provided by the founder of Reno Satanic. On the one hand, the invocation is utterly banal in the sense that most of them are. Sticking an invocation at the beginning of a meeting of government bureaucrats is an anachronism, given that government bureaucracy is about as driven by moral purpose as casinos are. On the other hand,

Just because the world is on fire - it truly is - doesn't mean one should give up and seek comfort with satan.

A religious invocation at the beginning of a meeting is probably as useless as saying the Pledge of Allegiance at a democrat convention.

Senator Tim Scott (R., S.C.), who dropped out of the 2024 presidential race in November, endorsed former president Donald Trump at a New Hampshire rally Friday night, four days before the state’s Republican primary. “We need Donald Trump,” Scott repeatedly told voters in Concord, N.H., declaring the former president as the best candidate to defeat President Joe Biden in November. “That’s why I came to the very warm state of New Hampshire,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience, “to endorse the next president of these United States, President Donald Trump.” Scott joined Vivek Ramaswamy and Governor Doug Burgum (R., N.D.) in becoming the third former Republican presidential candidate

The stock market keeps scaling new heights as investors focus on the good and ignore the bad, no matter how bad the bad parts might look sometimes. Prospects for a slowing economy, geopolitical unrest and turmoil in Washington aren't scaring market participants largely because none of those threats have turned into much in reality. What instead has taken center stage is an economy performing remarkably well, inflation pulling back and a run of positive developments in Big Tech that has outweighed any what-ifs that the market has had to endure. "If investors are looking for a reason to be negative, it's hard to find," said Mitchell Goldberg, president of ClientFirst Strategy,

WASHINGTON, - U.S. consumer sentiment improved in January, hitting the highest level in 2-1/2 years amid growing optimism over the outlook for inflation and household incomes, which bodes well for the economy's prospects this year. The better-than-expected reading in sentiment reported by the University of Michigan on Friday reflected a brightening of moods across all age and income groups, education and geographical locations as well as political affiliation. It suggested that Americans were finally warming up to the economy's resilience after much anxiety over high inflation, which has weighed on President Joe Biden's popularity. Consumers' inflation expectations over the next 12 months were the lowest in three years,

Biden is desperate to move the needle on the demands of Republicans that border security get hammered out before they agree to vote on more aid to Ukraine. Republicans are using their leverage to demand that Biden agree to common sense actions on the southern border. House progressives are angry that progressive voices, they claim, are being shut out of the negotiations process in the Senate. Rep. Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley ruled out the possibility of serving as vice president in comments to New Hampshire voters on Friday, amid speculation that former president Donald Trump might tap Haley to balance out his ticket if her own presidential ambitions don’t pan out. “I’ve said from the very beginning: I don’t play for second. I don’t want to be anybody’s vice president. That is off the table,” Haley told diners at a restaurant in Amherst, New Hampshire, according to a Politico reporter who overheard the comments. WASHINGTON — The Justice Department wants former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro to spend six months behind bars after being convicted of criminal contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena. Federal prosecutors said in a court filing Thursday that Navarro “deserves severe punishment” that includes a $200,000 fine in addition to prison time. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan 25. Navarro, 74, was found guilty last year on two counts of contempt after he rejected a congressional subpoena to testify before the now-defunct Jan. 6 committee and provide relevant documents. “The Defendant chose allegiance to former President Donald Trump over the rule of law,”

The Biden administration has approved an additional $5 billion in debt cancelation for roughly 74,000 student loan borrowers, the White House said in a statement Friday. President Biden said many of the borrowers impacted by his latest student loan debt handout are public sector workers, like teachers and firefighters, who will have their debt erased after 10 years of public service. Nearly 30,000 borrowers impacted have been in repayment for at least 20 years "but never got the relief they earned through income-driven repayment plans," Biden said. The latest round of student debt cancelation brings the total amount canceled under Biden to $136.6 billion for more than 3.7 million Americans,
