Barack Obama recently had an off-the-books White House lunch with President Joe Biden to share his concerns and advice about his former running mate's campaign, according to a new report.
Obama grew 'animated' as he discussed the 2024 election and Donald Trump's bid to return to the presidency, and suggested Biden should restructure his campaign to be more agile, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The lunch meeting reportedly occurred in recent months, but has not been previously reported, and Obama does not appear in the White House visitor logs,

A mob of sticky-fingered migrants stormed into Manhattan’s Bloomingdale’s and tried to swipe a trove of Versace, Dior and Prada designer sunglasses totaling $5,300 — before all but one of them escaped, police sources said Sunday.
About 15 asylum-seekers swarmed the high-end Midtown retailer shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday and grabbed more than a dozen pairs of the pricey sunglasses before making a run for it, sources said.
An alert cop on paid detail at the store was able to grab one of the crooks while the rest ran off, according to sources.

Mehdi Hasan announced during the final broadcast of his Sunday show that he is leaving MSNBC.
“It’s been an absolute blast doing this live show on MSNBC for the past three years with an amazing team of producers behind me and with all of you watching at home, it’s been a privilege,” said the far-left host at the end of his show Sunday.
“It’s been a pleasure. But as we begin 2024 with an election coming, a war still ongoing, and too many Trump trials, honestly, to even keep track of, and with this show going away, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to look for a new challenge,”

Cape Canaveral, Fla.— The first U.S. lunar lander in more than 50 years rocketed toward the moon Monday, launching private companies on a space race to make deliveries for NASA and other customers.
Astrobotic Technology’s lander caught a ride on a brand new rocket, United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan. The Vulcan streaked through the Florida predawn sky, putting the spacecraft on a roundabout route to the moon that should culminate with an attempted landing on Feb. 23.
“So, so, so excited. We are on our way to the moon!” Astrobotic chief executive John Thornton said. The Pittsburgh company aims to be the first private business to successfully land on the moon,

The missing door plug as well as two cell phones that belonged to passengers from the Alaska Airlines flight that experienced an inflight door blowout at 16,000 feet over Oregon on Friday have been located.
One of the cellphones, an iPhone, was found by video game designer Sean Bates who said that he picked it up while out for a walk. In a series of posts on X, Bates said that the intact phone was still in airplane mode and had half of its battery life left.
Bates added that when he contacted the National Transportation and Safety Bureau, he was told that it was the second such phone

Former President Donald Trump publicly called on President Joe Biden to fire Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for the delayed announcement about his hospitalization.
The former president issued his decree from his Truth Social account on Sunday.“Failed Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin should be fired immediately for improper professional conduct and dereliction of duty, He has been missing for one week, and nobody, including his boss, Crooked Joe Biden, had a clue as to where he was, or might be,” said Trump. “He has performed poorly, and should have been dismissed long ago, along with ‘General’ Mark Milley, for many reasons, but in particular the catastrophic surrender in Afghanistan,

Former President Donald Trump is on track to win more black votes than any other Republican presidential candidate in history.
A review of polls conducted by Bloomberg found that Trump is poised to take 14 percent to 30 percent of the black vote.
Trump only won eight percent of the black vote in 2020, according to data analyzed by the Pew Research Center. This small number was still more than any other Republican candidate before him.
Newsweek reports:
The NAACP estimated that 5 million African Americans voted in the 1960 presidential election when Richard Nixon won 32 percent of the Black vote

Leaders in Congress announced on Sunday a spending deal that could help avert the start of another government shutdown in less than two weeks.
In a letter to colleagues, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed a fiscal 2024 agreement of $886 billion for defense and $704 billion for nondefense. The “topline” $1.59 trillion figure matches the “statutory levels” agreed upon in last year’s debt ceiling bill called the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA), he added.

The disqualification of former President Donald Trump from the ballot in several states may depend on whether the U.S. Supreme Court believes that the president of the United States is an “officer of the United States” according to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, was disqualified from appearing on the primary ballots in Colorado and Maine after the former’s Supreme Court and the latter’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, respectively, ruled that he was ineligible for federal office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.

Corporate media’s coverage of the Jan. 6 anniversary was confronted head-on by the GOP chairwoman as she echoed the former president’s sentiments on Justice Department “hostages.” (Video) Capitalizing on any opportunity to avoid discussion of the flailing economy, international turmoil and the disaster at the southern border, NBC News host Kristen Welker found a familiar groove challenging the language of former President Donald Trump. Raising remarks where incarcerated Americans held without due process for actions on Jan. 6, 2021 were referred to as “hostages” by the president, Welker similarly questioned House Republican Conference Chairwoman, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik over her own past statements about the U.S. Capitol breach

PALM BEACH, Florida — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News that the recent wave of international populist and conservative victories, from Javier Milei’s win in Argentina to Giorgia Meloni’s victory in Italy and more, show that the international populist conservatives’ movement is “stronger” than it was in 2016.
“It’s essentially a MAGA-Trump movement,” Trump said in a more than two-hour-long interview at Mar-a-Lago just before the end of 2023. “It’s a Trump movement.” Worldwide, conservative populists are surging into electoral victories. The most recent stunning such win was Milei’s in Argentina, something Trump said Milei told him in a post-win phone call was because of him—even though Trump says
