Something has changed inside the Department of Justice, though it’s unclear exactly what might be going on under the covers. After years of stalling and obfuscation, doing everything possible to keep First Son Hunter Biden out of any legal trouble, the DOJ filed nine new charges against Hunter last night. None of them are trivial and three are quite serious. He was hit with three felony tax evasion charges and six related misdemeanors. The unpaid taxes add up to $1.4 million and they carry the potential of up to 17 years in prison. This is going to put Joe Biden in a very awkward position in short order and

Hmmmmm….setting up a potential pardon from Dad who then will step aside as a candidate for 2024 to “spend more time with his family”?

Hunter, too Hot to Handle
Looks like they're going to offload all Joe's woes onto son #2 only to have Joe try to remember to pardon him on his way out. Only problem is that he has to be convicted in a court of law prior to that for the pardon to go into effect. If the career bureaucrats in the DOJ/FBI are reading the tea leaves properly, they realize Trump is a blowout favorite in 2024, so they're hedging their bets by keeping the 'Hunter fires' burning until the election. Secondarily, it's career Democrats' technique to force the old man out of office.

Theory. Whoever is pulling the strings has decided to dump Joe Biden for 2024. Therefore the DOJ is now free to do what should have been done long ago, and soon Joe will be implicated and must withdraw.

Pleads guilty to “federal charges”. Plea deal. Dad pardons him on day of conviction.

With charges filed against him, he can decline to testify in front of Congress now to avoid interfering with the charges...

5, ditto. My first thought was Obama is tired of Joe and felt it was time for someone less senile but as easily controllable in office.
I look forward to "the first African American (or do we say Black now?) woman of color" president!
At least she doesn't get lost walking off stage and shake hands with the air.

Reason for this is simple: less harm to Dem Marxists if Hunter is merely a tax cheat - - - - their hope is admitting to this will allow ignoring the real issues - - bribery with foreign countries

This just keeps him from having to testify before congress. I'm sorry I can't answer that question because it's under investigation. It defeats any contempt of congress charge that might be brought.

Or, plead to the misdemeanors, felonies get dismissed, he gets a slap on the wrist, and is shielded from congressional testimony until a couple more Republicans are forced out of congress?

And if the 'chosen' isn't the current 'woman of color' there will be hell to pay. Unless they demand a previous WH occupant and woman of color.

No, I don't think so.
Weiss and his henchmen are busy looking for the most inept and incompetent US Attorney they can find who will be outlawyered and easily lose the case.
But the case won't be heard ... unlike all the lawfare hacks that all want to try Pres Trump in four jurisdictions in the same week during an election year.
Old Joe will save his pardon pen until after the 2024 election, won, lost or stolen.
And gosh, Hunter just can't show up for those Congressional subpoenas. Sorry about that.

Tax Evasion charges for Hunter? The article is correct: these charges are a smoke screen to deflect attention to the real criminal, FJB.
When can we expect charges of bribery, extortion, spying, perdury, and serving as a foreign agent againt POTUS Biden?

Don't overlook that link to Mike Collins' cheeky Christmas decorations! Unfortunately, my reaction was to wonder why they devote so much effort to their "big Christmas decoration competition" when other matters seem much more pressing! Priorities, guys!!
