By now I imagine most readers have seen the photo of Joe Biden’s birthday cake, which is the greatest moment of presidential self-immolation since Jimmy Carter was attacked by a rabbit or George H.W. Bush threw up on the Japanese prime minister. The amazing thing is that someone in the White House thought it was a keen idea to release this photo. Which wasn’t even competently shot. What’s up with gripping the sides of the table? I have a theory. People who think Democrats are playing Lucy and the football with Republicans, waiting to swap out Biden for someone more plausible once the GOP has settled on Trump, are mistaken.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Automaker Stellantis on Wednesday announced a recall of more than 32,000 of its hybrid Jeep Wrangler SUVs because they pose a potential fire risk.
As part of what the company described as a routine review of customer information, Stellantis determined that eight of the hybrid Wranglers had caught fire while they were turned off and parked. Six of the vehicles were being charged when the fires started. The company said it doesn’t believe anyone was hurt in the fires.
The recall covers 2021-2024 models of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs. All other Wrangler models have been deemed safe by Stellantis, which maintains

Fact check organizations, like their media allies, have established themselves over the years as little more than mouthpieces/apologists for members of the Democratic Party, as RedState has documented many times. The latest example of this comes from FactCheck.org, which "fact-checked" recent claims from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) regarding the Biden administration's stance toward Israel, specifically as it relates to calls for a ceasefire with the terrorist group Hamas.

It can be said there are degrees of hackery when it comes to the journalism industry. The standard Level 1 example is basic bias and partisanship in the reporting. Level 2 can be said to have a more activist role, avoiding particular details or working hard to slant undeniable evidence. This type is seen frequently at Politifact, to give an example. The lowest has been Level 3, where a journalist delivers information they know to be incorrect but forges ahead with their agenda as that is far more important than the actual facts. (This has been on display in rising numbers during the Israeli-Hamas conflict.)

According to Massachusetts authorities, 44-year-old Slade Sohmer has pleaded not guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of dissemination of child pornography.
Sohmer was arrested at his residence in Otis, Mass., on Friday, several weeks after law enforcement obtained a search warrant and confiscated his personal electronic devices.
An investigation into Sohmer was started after authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities later traced the content in the lead to the IP address of Sohmer’s home internet.

Former NSA and CIA chief Michael Hayden, who has fashioned a post-government career attacking and censoring conservatives, is spending his Thanksgiving week smearing patriotic American Christians who own firearms, claiming they are “no different” from Hamas terrorists.
On Wednesday, Michael Hayden responded to a post on X that juxtaposed two photos: one of a woman holding an American flag, Bible, and handgun; the other of Palestinian terrorist Reem Riyashi, who killed herself along with four Israelis in a 2004 suicide bombing that was claimed by Hamas and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.

City Hall is pushing back against a sexual assault claim against Mayor Eric Adams, insisting he does not even know his accuser.
The unidentified female accuser filed a summons in civil court late last night, accusing Adams of sexually assaulting her in 1993 when they were both working for the city. It was first reported by The Messenger.
At the time, Adams was 33 and working as a captain within the NYPD. Details of the allegations have not yet been made public but a City Hall spokesperson told The New York Post today Adams doesn't know the woman.

At least in my simpleminded view people whose job it is to set policy should do so based on what is good for the country.
That’s not how Aaron Blake of the Washington Post sees things, at least from his point of view as a political analyst. For him, it is all about the polling. Democrats could get away with open borders while the Democrat base was OK with it. But now that Democrats don’t care for it, it may be time to change policies.
