The FBI secretly investigated Joe Biden in 2007 over his membership in a private Delaware golf club after the owner waived the $34,000 joining fee for him, a shocking new report revealed on Thursday. Biden joined Fieldstone Golf Club in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2001 and remains a member to this day, even playing golf there as president. (snip) Ultimately the secret probe - it's unclear if Biden even knew about it - did not result in allegations of wrongdoing but the story shows the discrepancy between Biden's self-portrayed image as a man of the middle-class and the senator who courted powerful local families like the DuPonts.

I wonder if Biden will get the Weisselberg treatment? Former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg was sentenced to five months in jail. In Manhattan, you have to play by the rules no matter who you are or who you work for,” DA Alvin Bragg said. Weisselberg “used his high-level position to secure lavish work perks such as a rent-free luxury Manhattan apartment, multiple Mercedes Benz automobiles and private school tuition for his grandchildren — all without paying required taxes,” Bragg said.

When you and I commit a crime, law enforcement can earn a decent salary playing a role in holding us accountable. When those in positions of power commit crimes, law enforcement can make a decent living holding them accountable while perhaps risking the abuse of that power to their detriment. And they can make an absolute killing by not holding the powerful accountable. What outcome would you expect. Blackmail and extortion are the currency in the halls of government.

California governor Gavin Newsom proposed a $292 billion state budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, driving economists to wonder why he plans only $8.5 billion in real spending cuts against what the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office says is a projected $68 billion deficit. Mirabelli and West were put on administrative leave in May, but a judge ruled this week that the district must reinstate the teachers.
