GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (KDVR) – A woman who was shopping at Trader Joe’s in Greenwood Village Saturday says her cell phone was stolen from her shopping cart, but what the thieves got away with was worth much more. Michelle, who asked to go by her first name only, was shopping at the store on South University Boulevard when she leaned over to grab something from the frozen food section. “(I) got bumped from the back, turned around and nobody was there. Took about 20 more steps and my phone was gone,” Michelle said.

Comments:

This is why you don't put your banking information your cell phone. Cell phones are too easy to steal and then break into.

Don't leave your purse in your shopping cart. I always see women leaving their purses in the kid seat in the front of the cart, always open with wallet and phone in an easily accessible position. I see them looking at something on a shelf, backs turned to their cart, and open purse and contents exposed to any malicious person walking by.

I work at a big box store. I remind ladies to keep their purses close. The worst are the hair stylists who are not careful about where their customer's purses. One stylist got angry when I reminded her about a customer's purse.

I do not have any bank apps on my cellphone. I do not use my cellphone for any financial transactions. Even if you have locks, they can use force to make you provide any access information. And who understands what can be intercepted from cellphone transmissions? Not me.

Putting any of your access to bank accounts on a phone is seriously stupid, but also extremely common. That doesn't make it smart.

Don't even put your e-mail or friends e-mail addresses on the contacts on your phone. It's convenient but anybody with access to your phone can get your contact list and use your identity to scam others while they think it's you. The common ruse is to ask friends if you can borrow a little money using either bit-coin drops or gift cards.

Anything a user can access from their phone/computer can be accessed by others. After being hit with identity theft four times, I limit the number of online financial transactions, and do not have online access to my bank. The way my identify was stolen - a bank employee sold my personal information to a hacker. You can be extremely careful, but given the number of people who have access to your personal info, all it takes is one person to sell you out.

The Georgia police officer who shot a recently exonerated man during a traffic stop in Georgia was once fired for excessive use of force. Camden County Sheriff's deputy Buck Aldridge killed unarmed Leonard Cure, 53, after pulling him over on the I-95 on Monday. Cure had been freed after spending 16 years in prison for a wrongful armed robbery conviction and was unarmed at the time of the stop for speeding. Bodycam footage showed him lashing out after being tasered by Aldridge. The footage then shows the officer shooting Cure as he was lying on the ground.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden has postponed a trip to Colorado Monday to stay in Washington and focus on the growing conflict in the Middle East. Biden had been heading to the Colorado congressional district of Rep. Lauren Boebert, where he was to visit CS wind, the world's largest facility for wind tower manufacturing. Instead, Biden is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings with aides on Israel and the growing humanitarian concerns in Gaza, as he weighs a decision to visit the region in a powerful symbol of support for Israel following the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas

Encampment-overrun Denver is set to break ground on the first of many micro-communities designed to house the homeless - with 1,000 taxpayer-funded homes set to open by the end of the year. The site, located on S. Santa Fe Drive, is one of 11 being propped up by the famously progressive city, which is currently in the midst of an unprecedented homelessness crisis. Worsening matters is the fact the homeless are not exactly roughing it - with tent-laden processions complete with furniture and other amenities now a common sight in the Mile High City.

Even as his state shifted further and further into the arms of the Republican Party, Mr. Manchin held onto his seat by presenting himself as a “conservative Democrat” and a moderate voice among his party as it moved further to the left.

Sure, your daughter slings a mean pack of Do-si-dos, but how's her anti-KKK game? The Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) aims to ensure it's badge-worthy. In case you're unfamiliar, "antiracism" isn't the mere absence of prejudice. Rather, it identifies people as oppressors or victims -- the former category being congenitally Caucasian. UCLA Law Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw puts it this way: “Antiracism is the active dismantling of systems, privileges, and everyday practices that reinforce and normalize the contemporary dimensions of white dominance. This, of course, also involves a critical understanding of the history of whiteness in America.”

The horrific terrorist attacks of October 7th, 2023, should have inspired a moment of bipartisan unity in Washington, D.C. Republican Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) first act as the new Speaker of the House was a floor vote in favor of a congressional resolution expressing explicit support for Israel and condemning Hamas for the deadliest attack against Jews since the Holocaust. Sadly, too many Democrats responded with equivocation, talk of “both sides,” and demands for a ceasefire. Clearly there is steep division within the Democratic Party over Israel. Traditional Democrats stand firm for Israel. 22 House Democrats voted to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib for her rhetoric against Israel.
