Chicago, RIP

Electing Lori Lightfoot as Mayor of Chicago was the beginning of the end for that city. Replacing her with someone even more far left is accelerating Chicago’s terminal decline. Tom Bevan notes that the death throes are under way: Progressive allies of Mayor Brandon Johnson have released a financial blueprint titled – and I'm not joking – "First We Get the Money" calling for $12 billion in new taxes, including: "Head tax" of $33 per worker for companies with 50+ employees Quadrupling the tax on jet fuel.… — Tom Bevan (@TomBevanRCP) May 17, 2023 The stupidity is hard to fathom.

Chicago is beyond repair and I really don't care much. But they should move the U-Boat museum to a safer location where normal people can visit it.

Some ask as to just what is really wrong within the liberal mind. All you have to do is look at how they run things. Liberals spend other peoples money, but never their own. Their brains just work that way!!!

Addressing reporters during a press conference with Jewish leaders at the White House on Wednesday, Joe Biden appeared to confirm reports that Israeli babies had been found decapitated at Kibbutz Kfar Aza along the Gaza border after Hamas terrorists withdrew from the area. “I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children. I never thought I’d ever,” Biden said alongside a group of Jewish leaders. Several outlets reported earlier this week that the decapitated bodies of babies had been found at the kibbutz in Southern Israel by the Israeli military. Tal Heinrich, a spokesman for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed the reports on Wednesday

House Republicans have chosen Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., as their nominee for speaker after huddling behind closed doors for over two hours on Wednesday. GOP lawmakers voted via secret ballot for who they will put up as speaker in a House floor vote, which will likely come sometime this week. It comes after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was ousted in a vote by eight members of his own party and all House Democrats last week. That moment marked the first time in history the U.S. House of Representatives voted to remove its own leader. The contest to replace him quickly became a two-man race between

Come on, man, you may be tempted to respond. The US had known Hamas to be a client and proxy for the mullahs in Tehran for decades. Hamas even routinely brags about the support they get from Iran. They have relied on Iranian arms and munitions for their constant rocket attacks on Israel ever since the Israeli occupation of Gaza ended in 2005, an arms stream that forced Israel to put a policy of containment in place. So why investigate whether Iran’s revolutionary guard (IRGC) trained Hamas “militants,” as NBC News calls the barbaric terrorists? There may be a reason to “investigate” the obvious:

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense chief and centrist opposition party leader Benny Gantz have agreed to form an emergency government, a joint statement from Gantz's National Unity party said on Wednesday. Terrorists from Islamist group Hamas invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip on Saturday in a surprise assault that killed at least 1,200 people, the deadliest Palestinian militant attack in Israeli history. Israel has responded with a massive bombardment of Gaza that has killed 1,055, and deployed thousands of troops around the enclave amid growing expectations it will launch a ground invasion to destroy Hamas.

Exxon Mobil is buying Pioneer Natural Resources in an all-stock deal valued at $59.5 billion, its largest buyout since acquiring Mobil two decades ago, creating a colossal fracking operator in West Texas. Including debt, Exxon is committing about $64.5 billion to the acquisition, leaving no doubt of the Texas energy company’s commitment to fossil fuels as energy prices surge. Pioneer shareholders will receive 2.32 shares of Exxon for each Pioneer share they own. Exxon purchased XTO Energy in 2009 for approximately $36 billion. In the late 1990s, the merger between Exxon and Mobil was valued around $80 billion. The deal with Pioneer Natural expands Exxon’s presence in the Permian basin,

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO was sharing its information over the damage and stands ready to support the allies concerned. Finland joined the military alliance in April, while Estonia has been a member since 2004. The Balticconnector gas pipeline was shut early on Sunday on concerns that gas was leaking from a hole in the 77-km (48-mile) pipeline.
