The Florida House passed a bill on Friday with a 76-34 vote that would permit the state leader to run for the presidency without stepping down from their current position.
The bill’s approval comes only a few days after it was passed in the state Senate by a vote of 28 to 12. The bill is now on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for approval. The timing of the bill’s approval and Governor DeSantis’ potential presidential announcement adds to the uniqueness of the situation.
“We in this body are doing the governor’s bidding,” Democrat Rep. Angela Nixon, said. “He needs to resign to run if he wants to

When you stack the deck for yourself it eventually does not end well.
Keep your powder dry Ronnie, your time will come soon enough.

He just keeps digging deeper and deeper. He was on top. We all loved him. He's getting really bad advice from W and Jeb.

Let him run. Trump is evidently way ahead, so he shouldn’t worry. If he runs on what he did while in office, DeSantis won’t get the nomination. I only know I can’t take 4 more years of Joe and Cackles.

he has to realize he's the anointed disciple and his glory days as Governor are just beginning but, should he trek on up to the swamps of D.C. he wouldn't receive the same response from the demcommies in the federal house so shame and his best tactic is to stay in Tallahassee until 2028 and then make the move to D.C. - he might have the MAGA people on his side by then, who knows.

Playing it safe. And that's how he'll run his administration and implement a policy of compromises against his enemies.

Very good. I have a big problem with Trump believing that he should be granted a contest-less coronation merely because of who he is. Democracy doesn't work that way. Based on his stellar record in Florida DeSantis is a formidable contestant. I want to hear what he has to say. Trump has a stellar record as President. I want to hear what he has to say. The others, not so much but they have the same right as Trump to run.

But his running in 2024 and making sure the law changed so that he wouldn’t have to give up his job as governor shows lack of character. As one poster says, BAD. Makes him look weak, greedy, a number of things he didn’t look before.
Have you ever bern able to hold a job while you ran around, month after month, trying to get a new job?
This looks so lame.

He run against Trump if the wants. He will have shown a lack of loyalty to his state, he was just reelected, and he's diching the state. This is trumps time, the voters are not going to abandon Trump, for him. I think this just makes him look like an opportunist, and will hurt his reputation as a leader. At least I won't have to listen to poster who say, who says he running.

And he probably wonders why people are not buying what he is trying to sell us. This is such a dodgy and unethical situation right now what he is trying to do, run without saying so. You are really close to burning your bridges, and maybe that is what the Swamp wants Ron. You and Trump both X'ing each other out so the Swamp can put in somebody who will jump to the agenda.

Oh, stop it with the disloyalty from DeSantis. I actually think it is a good thing to have several individuals campaigning. Please let them talk about the deficiencies of the Democrat policies and not about each other. Be courteous to each other and respect their right to be on the campaign trail.

I think the conservative powers that be have convinced Ron that Trump cannot beat Biden and that he has to run to save the country from a second Biden term.
They seem to think that no one who voted for Biden will change their vote given how screwed up our country has become. I don't agree. Lots of people vote with their wallets.
