Democrats dealt another blow: third lawmaker

Democrats were dealt another blow from within their own ranks this week as yet another state lawmaker declared he was leaving the party. According to a Monday report by The Advocate, a Louisiana-based newspaper, state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe announced he had left the Democratic Party and would be registering as a Republican. It was not immediately clear what prompted LaCombe's departure, however he is now the second Louisiana Democrat in less than a month to switch party affiliations, and the third nationwide after another state lawmaker in North Carolina did the same.

In reply to No.2; Maybe, just maybe they got tired, very tired of delivering the Dem Party BS and had their eyes and ears opened. To me at least if a dem tried to sell a point, they would have to start lying soon enough. And they probably got sick and tired of trying to lie to their own constituents.

Okay. Another democrat switched parties. Let's see what they support, and how they vote. We'll see. Aside from a very few party switchers, that is Reagan and Trump, I really can't think of many that did anything worthwhile, especially conservative type stuff. And Reagan switched way back when most people considered the democrat party to be relatively normal.

In Monday’s meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov repeated accusations against the US, NATO and Ukraine. DW takes a look at the speech and debunks some of his claims. With Russia currently holding the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov convened a meeting of the body on Monday to discuss "effective multilateralism through the defence of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations." Despite Russia's ongoing war of agression against Ukraine, Lavrov repeated claims of NATO threatening Russia and the US undermining multilateralism on the global stage. He also denied the Ukrainian government's legitimacy

Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting with Hunter Biden at the State Department in July 2015 when he was serving as the deputy secretary of state in the Obama-Biden administration and Hunter was on the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, according to emails reviewed and verified by Fox News Digital. The ties between Blinken and Hunter Biden could face increased scrutiny after former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell testified to the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees last week that Blinken, as President Biden’s then-campaign senior adviser, "played a role in the inception" of the public statement signed by intelligence officials claiming Hunter’s abandoned laptop

The First Amendment is one of several foundational pillars that make the United States unique in its almost-unwavering written protection of religion, protest, and most importantly of all, speech. But like all freedoms, there are exceptions. When it comes to speech, for example, there are categories of expression that fall outside the protections of the First Amendment, including obscenity, child pornography, and speech that incites violence — and it’s the latter that stands as an opportunity for authoritarian, would-be fascists among us to silence their enemies. According to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), media companies should be held accountable for “incitement of violence.” And by media companies, she means Fox News.

Presidential primaries get very dirty, and that’s to be expected. But here in April 2023, the GOP one has already descended into a disgusting spiral of lies and insanity — because of the increasingly disordered and amateurish Donald Trump campaign. Trump has a clear lane in the primary. He has a record of accomplishment as president; he led the country to prosperity that has since sharply declined; he exposes the politicization and corruption of our government agencies when he’s personally targeted by leftist activist district attorneys like Alvin Bragg and when he is the subject of a baseless search for documents at his home.

An Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblower hinted to congressional leaders last week that the FBI improperly blocked aspects of the Hunter Biden investigation and that Biden-appointed U.S. attorneys blocked an indictment against the president’s son on tax charges. The carefully worded letter also indicated Attorney General Merrick Garland had testified inaccurately when he told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Trump-appointed Delaware U.S. attorney had the authority to file charges against Hunter Biden in other jurisdictions. Here are six reasons this whistleblower should terrify those behind the DOJ’s Biden family protection racket.

California lawmakers have introduced legislation addressing caste, following Seattle's lead. But why is the ancient South Asian hierarchical system important in US politics? "Like everyone else, I was approaching the table with plates and cutlery in hand. But when my turn to take food came, the host said, 'Prem, can you stop? I will bring the food for you.' I just obeyed. That's fine, I will not pollute your food." Nepalese-born social worker Prem Pariyar recalls the first time he was reminded of his caste in Bay Area, California. The socioeconomic hierarchical system of caste, dating back thousands of years, includes rules of purity and pollution originating in South Asia.

Sometimes when you are in the midst of a revolution, you do not even know it. I doubt all the Germans who voted in National Socialism quite foresaw what quickly was to come. Those who overthrew the Bourbons or the Romanoffs had no real idea that they had sown the wind and were soon to reap the Jacobin and Bolshevik whirlwind. So it is with our “woke”—a euphemism for the socialist revolution we are in and do not fully appreciate or even understand. Socialism is variously defined. The Merriam-Webster dictionary emphasizes the role of the state in near-communist terms:

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy demanded President Biden return to the negotiating table for debt ceiling negotiations, as talks remain stalled over key spending cuts and a potential increase to the ceiling overall. McCarthy accused the president of stifling a deal during "Sunday Morning Futures," after Biden dismissed the Republican spending proposal as "wacko" and "irresponsible." "I think as president and the leader of the free world, this is one of the problems," McCarthy told Maria Bartiromo. "We have challenges around this country, around the world. He needs to show leadership and come to the negotiating table instead of putting us in default. This is risky, what he's doing."

Secretary of State Antony Blinken would really, really prefer to talk about grain in Ukraine this week. But many people are less interested in what Blinken is doing as secretary of state than in what he did to become secretary of state. This week, Blinken was implicated in a political coverup that could well have made the difference in the 2020 election. According to the sworn testimony of former acting CIA Director Michael Morrell, Blinken – then a high-ranking Biden campaign official – was “the impetus” of the false claim that the Hunter Biden laptop story was really Russian disinformation. Morrell then organized dozens of ex-national security officials to sign

Democrats have left the back door off the hinges with working-class, middle-class, and even suburban voters as they have morphed into the party of the front-door rich and elite. Their policies increasingly reflect this new dynamic and, media tropes aside, Republicans can pounce on this wide-open opportunity with aggressive, disciplined messaging encompassing plenty of strategic punching back. The media is working overtime to bury this truth about the Democratic Party, but with every election, the Republican Party is becoming the de facto party of the middle class, working class, and working minorities, while the Democratic Party is increasingly the party of wealthy white elites.

Tucker Carlson has left the building. Carlson parted company with Fox News on Monday — reportedly fired — but he hasn’t been in the building most other days over the last couple of years. That’s because he rarely went into the Washington or New York bureaus. He had his own private studios in Maine and Florida, lavish bunkers from which he broadcast his infectious bunker mentality. But he wasn’t physically in his bubble on Friday. He was in Washington to give the keynote address at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th anniversary gala. Tucker was a fitting choice.
