An apocalyptic scene has unfolded in Frederick, Maryland where an overturned gas tanker exploded into a massive fireball killing the driver and setting nearby homes and cars alight.
Hazmat teams have responded to the incident along with emergency crews with reports of a 'burning smell' filling the area.
Footage filmed by residents, some of whom were seen gawking nearby the huge blaze, shows large plumes of black smoke, ash and embers billowing from the crash site.
Maryland State Police said the crash took place on Route 15 in Maryland and the driver of the tanker died in the incident. There were no other fatalities or injuries immediately reported.

Uh, are we under attack? Seems to me an awful lot of plain ole sabotage is going on and people are dying. Is there any part of our government investigating this?

Call it an accident if you want to. I will wait for the sabotage report, if any.

Under one of the pictures it says it’s “unclear” what caused the inferno. Ummmm, an overturned gas tanker would be my first guess. Article doesn’t explain what caused the tanker to overturn.

I know exactly what caused it to overturn: momentum and gravity. But serious, it's tempting to speculate that this is another attempt to take the public's attention of the dumpster fire that is the Vegetable's maladministration.

My best guess is an inexperienced driver driving too fast is the most likely the cause. I saw a lot of these on the road lately rude and aggressive drivers of big rigs. My he rest in peace regardless.

Maryland is a blue state, a big D state, full of democrats. The federal government is probably there as we speak getting help to their fellow democratic Americans.

There are just too many to be categorized as accidents. Should we be trusting the Unions?

Crash likely due to inexperienced and/or unqualified driver. Our country seems to be experiencing a lack of competent people on a national scale.

Prayers for the family of this person, and America.

In related news, thousands of gas tanker trucks arrived at their destinations safely. But that doesn't sell or create hysteria.
Careful, people.

Route 15 is a major road. If you've ever gone to Gettysburg, most likely you were on 15 at some point. But it's not an Interstate, there are crossroads in places, and people drive like idiots getting off I-70. Local reports are someone cut the guy off and he crashed. Inexperienced driver + heavy traffic + bad drivers = accident.

he was driving to fast for condition to have the cab completely destroyed and wrapped around that tree, seems a strange place to have that large of a tree with no guard rails... but the theory that some local fool cut him off is also consistent with the scene photos, though...If I were driving I'd prefer to hit a car than a tree, for the sake of everyone.

Frederick, MD is purple. The farther west you go in Maryland, the redder it gets.
