The Real Russia -- and Ukraine

In 2015 in China, an American friend “Showman” (my nickname for him, similar to his real name), a self-styled expert on Russia, was always telling us fellow expats about how Putin had done so much for Russia (snip) I first arrived in Russia in 1994. I was shocked at the filth, poverty, and violence. I immediately understood that Soviet Russia had been waging war on itself (and its neighbors) since the Revolution, while playing the victimhood card for generations, claiming their military buildup was out of fear of NATO. When the Soviet “Union” collapsed (1989) their only fear was of each other.

FTA : "But while Russian-Estonians whined about being ruled by non-Russians, none of them ever returned to Mother Russia. Estonia was a good place to live because non-hyphenated Estonians occupied most government posts and did not use the past and their very real recent victimhood (Papa Putin’s NKVD during WW II banished 7,000 Estonian women, children and elderly to Siberia) to justify stealing from and terrorizing others (even Russians)" ...sounds a LOT like the russians in Estonia are playing the same cards as blacks are here.

With respect - it is an anectdotal opinion based on one person's experiences and possibly with prejudices. A person who grew up in Beverly Hills 90210 might have similar expriences in Detroit and East St Louis.

I have known a few Russians over many years. During the "troubles" in northern Ireland I knew a few IRA fanatics. These people at first made me uneasy and then frightened. Since now, for a long time, they I have avoided. A good article and true.

This fits very well with what I saw in Russia and in Ukraine over a ten year period starting in the early 2000s. In Moscow, more than once, just walking on the street, I was stopped by the police and asked to show my papers. Never once in Ukraine, where I traveled to Kiev, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaparizhzhia, Kharkiv and many other cities in between by rail and car, was I challenged by police, or even made uncomfortable. Walking out day or night to find a restaurant in an area of town that I had never visited was never fearful in Ukraine....but definitely so in parts of Moscow. Russian invaded a neighboring country to control it's resources and enslave it's people. Ukraine is defending itself from a vicious invasion. The USA could never have fought off Britain to gain our independence without arms and armies from France. Because Frenchmen, especially Marquis de Lafayette, Comte de Rochambeau, and Comte de Grasse, put their personal armies and navy in harm's way to aid the colonies, we were able to defeat what was probably the most powerful military in the world at the time. If Comte de Grasse had not blockaded the mouth of Chesapeake Bay to keep the British fleet from rescuing Cornwallis at Yorktown, we would have lost. Rochambeau and Lafayette brought personal armies at their own personal expense to heavily reinforce our army, and to provide expert military leadership, too. Lafayette started pushing Cornwallis onto the Yorktown peninsula as a trap, and got word to Washington and Rochambeau to rush in behind Lafayette's small army and prevent Cornwallis from escaping. Trapped and undersiege at Yorktown, Cornwallis was forced to surrender. French troops and sailors were absolutely crucial in our victory. I see our sending of arms to Ukraine as "paying it on" for the much greater and much more direct aid that we received from these great French liberty lovers. Giving Ukraine the means for THEM to defend THEMSELVES, without US troops, seems to be the least that we should do. And yet, many who would call themselves patriots, have a cold heart when another country wants to defend themselves the way we did starting in 1776. I don't understand it, not at all.

You can tell that the progs who have monopolized late night comedy are scared out of their wits by the triumph of Gutfeld!, the Fox News competitor that has grabbed ratings leadership, despite a visibly smaller production budget and distribution lacking free broadcast TV stations. When it was announced that a promo video for the show would air during the Super Bowl, heads figuratively exploded. They know that exposing the show to the gigantic Super Bowl audience, many of whom had never heard of it, would inevitably drive sampling, and that some of the new viewers would stay with the show, further driving down their ratings.

A new and increasingly popular Twitter hashtag is “#diedsuddenly” in response to a surge of sudden unexplained deaths among mostly young and healthy individuals, including athletes, occurring over the past 2 years. (snip) Here is one report, “An investigation of official statistics has found that the number of athletes who have died since the beginning of 2021 has risen exponentially compared to the yearly number of deaths of athletes officially recorded between 1966 and 2004.” This trend was quite worrisome, “So much so that the monthly average number of deaths between January 2021 and April 2022 is 1,700% higher than the monthly average between 1966 and 2004.”

Many years ago, during the ancient times of the early part of this century, I provided individual psychotherapy to several adolescents. Although some stood out, one in particular, a thirteen-year-old, will remain in my mind forever. Every week, dressed in her school uniform, she discussed the issues of family life. Her parents lived apart. What made this memorable was her lamenting the fact that her parents never married, sharing with me her humiliation when other children discussed their parents' anniversaries or honeymoons. The sanctity of marriage has been losing its luster since the late 1960s

As a long-time social movement activist and anarchist, Jen did not believe in state violence, carceral punishment, or incarceration..."

The Biden family (as in crime family) legal problems are beginning to converge in an interesting way. It may be the formation of a perfect political storm. Objective observers (which excludes the MSM) recognize that the Biden clan has had some shady financial dealings. With recent events, the evidence is becoming undeniable. As criminals often do, one of the co-conspirators may need to turn on the other to cover his tail. In this case, Hunter Biden may be the one protecting himself at his partner's expense — with Joe Biden being the partner left holding the bag.

It led many to wonder if she had it in her to deliver her infamous alphabet soups again. On January 31, Harris shut down all those wagging tongues as she made an ignominious comeback.

After Kari Lake and Adam Laxalt, the most wimpish George Bush RINO hesitates to say "elections are fair." Dozens of students walked out of their New Hampshire school after the district banned urinals in a compromise to a proposal that would have blocked children from using facilities based on their gender identity. The school board decided a few days before the Friday walkout to prohibit students at Milford Middle School and Milford High School from using urinals or shared spaces in locker rooms. The ban in a town of about 15,000 people roughly 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Concord, New Hampshire's capital, was the culmination of a long debate about district rules about bathroom use and gender identity.

Good news, everybody. All those UFOs being shot down over the US and Canada might not be from China after all, leaving the possibility that it’s just an alien invasion on the table. According to the Chicoms, they have detected an unidentified craft over Rizhao and have scrambled jets in response, warning fishermen to stay alert if something comes crashing down out of the sky. That news was about an hour old as of this writing and no further news has been released on whether China successfully engaged the supposed craft. That is if there even was a UFO as the communists claim. It seems far more likely
