Stéphane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, announced the development of a new mRNA shot to treat patients suffering from heart failure. In a statement released on Monday, the pharmaceutical company said it currently has 48 programs in development, including 36 programs that are currently being tested in clinical trials. These programs include mRNA infectious disease vaccines and mRNA therapeutics that span seven different modalities. “We enter 2023 in a great position, with significant momentum across our clinical pipeline, a highly energized team and a strong balance sheet of over $18 billion of cash and cash equivalents,” said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna.

A 23-year-old Florida man previously charged with possession of child porn now faces more than 1,000 additional charges.
Last month, officials arrested Johnathan Jhovanni Hernandez, accused of two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmitting child pornography, and a single count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, Fox News reported Saturday.
The arrest took place once authorities got a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

At least six people were killed in Alabama Thursday during a tornado outbreak that devastated parts of the state, including the historic city of Selma.
The fatalities were reported in Autauga County, just northwest of Montgomery, and more deaths are possible, Sheriff David Hill told WSFA.
In Selma, the same violent storm system that ripped through the Southern US, spurred a massive tornado that touched down just after noon and caused “significant damages” to the city – destroying homes, flipping vehicles and downing trees.

The CDC announced Friday that it is investigating a “safety concern” linked to the use of the Pfizer Covid vaccine in seniors.
“Following the availability and use of the updated (bivalent) COVID-19 vaccines, CDC’s Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), a near real-time surveillance system, met the statistical criteria to prompt additional investigation into whether there was a safety concern for ischemic stroke in people ages 65 and older who received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent,” the agency said in a statement.
