The House Freedom Caucus is discussing rival candidates for speaker as it seeks to pressure Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy into giving legislative concessions in exchange for supporting his bid for speaker, which he has started making even before Republicans have locked up a majority.
New and existing members of the Caucus have spent the past two days at a retreat in Washington, D.C., discussing how to approach the speaker election later this month. More hard-line members are pressing for the caucus to stand united in opposing McCarthy, R-Calif., on ideological grounds.

I haven't seen the final votes come in yet, but I'm not so sure the Republicans won the House. Maybe they should wait to see what happens before fighting over who is Speaker. How about giving each Member a Ballot and let them have a SECRET vote! See who comes up with the most votes. I'm betting it won't be McCarthy!

My representative went up to Washington and immediately voted for Bonier.
That is why I voted against him in this election.
A vote for McCarthy is not different than a vote for sleazy Bonier.
They are voting for their status and privileges, not for the nation.

They won’t have enough power, even if we win the house to do squat. The Republican side will split their own vote between MAGA and the establishment members.

I am tired of the elitism of the two parties. I read somewhere that Obama and George Bush are holding back on their "democracy" conferences until Donald Trump's announcement. Donald Trump has a right to run for president, so does Ron DeSantis, etc., etc. These elites keep getting snootier and snootier. Includes McConnell and McCarthy. . .

The fact that McCarthy is from California is enough reason to get someone else for Speaker.

If the Republicans wish to survive, they need to be led by a street fighter who isn't afraid to get down in the mud with the Dems. Putting in anyone else (like McCarthy) is a waste of time. Love him or hate him, Trump was smart enough not to bring a knife to a gun fight.

The Democrat election fraud is mirrored by many Republican "leaders" for their own personal benefit.

If the Republicans do not have the House majority stolen, it is looking like their majority would be 218-220 seats, a 5-7 seat pickup, a historical low pickup for a midterm. Walker is not going to win in Georgia, so the Democrats will control the Senate. Johnson's investigation of Biden is over. The Republicans will control no committee's in the Senate, and committee power sharing is over. The Republicans margin is so small in the House that the Rino's there will continue to pass Democrat legislation. And don't think for a minute, the Democrats won't buy someone off to switch parties to regain the majority. The House Freedom Caucus must stand firm. There is no going back with the scale of corruption. The new House Speaker should be chosen from Texas, not California. Make Louis Gohmer Speaker. We need Jim Jordan's skill on the investigations that are scheduled, if the Democrats do not finish the steal of the House.

FTA:... how to approach the speaker...." Really? To paraphrase someone, you're fired along with Ronna McDaniel for not realizing that the Dems hyped and lied about abortion to get out the single stupid female vote.

Jim Jordan supports McCarthy. If I read the article right, some of the Freedom Caucus is negotiating for a vote for McCarthy. Not impressed. We have zero leaders, and we are a minority of "hardliners" aka people with common sense and morals.

Worst economy in decades and they couldn’t flip Congress. It’s hard to say which is the bigger clown show, this White House run by Biden or the Republican Party run by RINO Mitch and the gang.
