PHOENIX — Margins between Democrats and Republicans narrowed considerably Wednesday in key Arizona races as election officials chipped away at counting more than half a million mail ballots returned on Election Day and shortly before. Democrats maintained small but dwindling leads in key races for U.S. Senate, governor and secretary of state, while Republicans were optimistic the late-counted ballots would break heavily in their favor, as they did in 2020. t could take several days before it's clear who won some of the closer contests. With Republicans still in the hunt, it remained unclear whether the stronger-than-expected showing for Democrats would

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson will win reelection in Wisconsin, fending off a serious challenge from Democratic Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, ABC News projects. With 94% of the vote reporting on Wednesday morning, Johnson had 51% of the vote, followed by Barnes with 49%. Johnson was viewed by race observers and assessments like FiveThirtyEight as one of the most vulnerable GOP lawmakers on the ballot this cycle after the battleground state flipped for Joe Biden in 2020. "Truth has prevailed over lies and the politics of personal destruction," he said in a statement on Wednesday morning. "I want to thank my

Kean represented District 21 in the state senate from 2003 to January 2022 and was the N.J. senate minority leader during his tenure. He has also previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly. He ran against Malinowski in 2020 and lost by just over 5,000 votes.

President Biden steered clear of public appearances on Election Day, taping a single radio interview before calling it a day early. Biden, who has actively campaigned and rallied for Democrats in several races across multiple states, laid low on Tuesday except for an interview taped earlier in the morning with the D.L. Hughley Show, which was expected to air later in the afternoon. The president used the radio spot to tell Americans what the Biden-Harris Administration has delivered to the Black community in less than two years in office. The White House called a lid at 11:20 a.m. before

An early November storm could potentially dampen the chances for high in-person voter turnout Tuesday for California's midterm election as Southern California braces for strong winds, several inches of rain and up to 2 feet of snow in the mountains. (Snip) California candidates and political activists have already been urging people to cast ballots early at voting centers or by mailing in their ballots in advance of the inclement weather. Studies have shown that early in-person voting and mail voting could help counteract the depressing effects that bad weather could have on voter turnout. The Republican Party of Orange County

An estimated $1.9 billion is up for grabs in Powerball's latest jackpot, lottery officials said. But you'll have to wait to see if there's a winning ticket, as Powerball announced Monday night that the scheduled drawing "has been delayed due to a participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols." Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., is getting blasted by his opponent as "radical" after his wife was recorded talking to two undercover journalists about how Democrats shouldn't talk about what's really in the Inflation Reduction Act and how they could defund the police "quietly." Susan Daggett, a law professor at the University of Denver, is seen on video released Monday by Accuracy in Media, arguing that "the most successful efforts in Washington, D.C., are the ones that you never see on the front page of the paper." At one point in the video, Daggett agrees and laughs with the two journalists

Never-Trump columnist Mona Charen faced intense social media backlash after insisting that violent crime, aside from murder, was not rising despite crime being a major midterm election issue. On Saturday, Charen tweeted a link to a Pew Research Center survey on crime leading up to the midterm election. The link, she stated, proved that, despite voters’ concerns for crime, violent crime "other than murder" was not higher than usual. "Other than murder, violent crime is not up. Did you know that? Violent crime is a key midterm voting issue, but what does the data say?" Charen, who is a policy
