Facebook parent Meta could begin large-scale layoffs as soon as Wednesday, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
The layoffs are expected to impact thousands of employees, the report said, and the move would mark the first major headcount reduction in Meta's history. At the end of September, the company reported that it had more than 87,000 employees. A Meta spokesperson declined to comment and referred CNBC to Zuckerberg's comments on the company's latest earnings call last month.
"In 2023, we're going to focus our investments on a small number of high priority growth areas,"

In absolute numbers it's said to be much larger than the Twitter cuts; but as a percentage of the company it's much smaller.
There is no place to go. This is what happens in a recession.

For his election cheating, I hope the fired Meta workers find a streetlight to hang Zuck from

So much for the fans of the D'Rats that like to brag about the "low unemployment."
Also, Fasistbook help suppress any stories that didn't fit the "narrative" so if they brought this upon themselves. Are they going to badger this CEO like they are doing to Musk?

Wanna bet there was "Coordination" between them and the Dems/Whitehouse delaying the layoffs/firings until the new Jobs numbers were released and the midterms done?
That $490 million Zuck spent to fund the 2020 races 'might' have covered a LOT of those salaries. How much is he spending THIS cycle?

Does anyone think it would be a loss to not have Facebook any more? Life abhors a vacuum, therefore it such a place is needed, it will come but not necessarily in the form we have had for years. I joined FB because of a great niece being stationed overseas and FB was a great way to chat for free. I joined Twitter on a dare from Rush Limbaugh to his audience.

Zuckerberg should have saved his Zuckerbucks instead of dispersing them to throw elections.

Long overdue, if you ask me. I've lost count of all the dead people with "active" FB pages. Every now and then, I check the suggested friends, and usually they haven't added anything to their pages in years! I would love to see some statistics on the percentage of FB pages that are unused.

Outstanding. For being a social manipulator and liar, Zuckerberg deserves financial ruin. I wonder if if any of the Zuckerbots that get fired will consider that if Mark hadn't blown all the money on manipulating the public in 2020 maybe some of them would still have their jobs.

If this is true, then why is Meta building in SW Idaho? Is Zukie leaving CA?

Failbook is run by idiots. I got suspended from posting after I posted a video of an Osama Bin Laden impersonator singing Lady Gaga's ''Poker Face''. Their explanation was that it violated their ''community standards'' involving Dangerous People and Organizations. Whoever came to that ridiculous decision is too stupid to recognize an obvious paraody mocking a dangerous [now dead] person. There is no way to contact a human being for an explanation, they just allow you to contest the decision if you disagree with no explanation, and it doesn't change anything. Morons.

Better have resumes ready, the coming recession is going to kill any jobs that currently exist. Wait too long and you will end up in a burger joint asking about the need for fries.
