I remember my reaction when I was first presented with an opportunity to go to space. I said: 'No.' I turned it down not for lack of curiosity, or because I was afraid. Well, I was afraid, but that wasn't my primary reason. I turned it down because I'm an actor, not an astronaut. Captain Kirk, the role I'd played in the original 1960s Star Trek series and, later, on the big screen, was a spacefaring hero. But I was a real-life 90-year-old relying on the help of Medicare – the American health system for the elderly and poor. 'Bill,' said a friend in TV, 'they're going to send civilians up into space.

The planet is not very fragile in it's own scale. Not fragile at all on human scale. It is a big rock on a solar scale and can be crushed. Insignificant on any larger scale. Aren't we lucky to exist at the human scale? ;)

He's just old and needs to retire to obscurity. If you listen to Thomas Sowell in his nineties, you can clearly see the difference. The life you lead in your early years is reflected in the latter years if you don't change.

I don't get the negative comments toward Shatner on here. Like he said, he's an actor. He played a role on tv, and now he's in his 90's. Quite frankly, I'd be scared s---less too going up in that thing. It's not like he had months of training to prepare for the trip like real astronauts. I think that because the offer was free and because so many people still see him as Capt. Kirk, Shatner felt he had to accept the offer to protect his image even at the ripe old age of 90. Would Bezo had offered the chance to go if Shatner hadn't played the role of Capt. Kirk?

Shattner gave what appears to be a honest and emotional description of his feelings in seeing the earth from space. Seems absolutely normal to me. He cited other astronauts that had similar emotional experiences. Ok.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied a claim made by former President Donald Trump that pro-life activists are being “locked up” by the Biden administration. Trump said at a campaign rally in Iowa Thursday that the administration and “radical Democrats” are “locking up pro-life activists” and “persecuting” their political opponents. The press secretary denied this claim when asked to respond at Monday’s briefing. “Clearly that’s not true,” she said. “I’m not going to say more than that. It’s just not true, it’s false, it’s a lie, it’s not true. So I’m going to move on.” (Video)

Yes, we’re going to make energy more expensive. That’s Joe Biden’s closing message for 2022. “We’re going to be shutting these [coal] plants down all across America and having wind and solar,” Biden told a crowd in deep blue California on Friday, arguing that it was “cheaper” to generate electricity from wind and solar. Is it? In California, which not only leads the nation in “clean energy” production but is leading the rest of us into rolling blackouts, residents pay 24.62 cents per kilowatt-hour for energy, around double the national average.

Jackson, who was joined by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, wrote a dissenting opinion objecting to the Supreme Court's decision to reject an appeal from Davel Chinn, the death row inmate, who was convicted of a 1989 murder in Dayton. Chinn's lawyers had petitioned the court to take his case, arguing that the prosecution withheld evidence that a key witness who identified him as the shooter was mentally disabled.

Lists disclosed by the Philadelphia City commissioners showed that roughly 3,500 voters in the city have at least one of four problems following a recent decision by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania including, missing a signature on the outer envelope, missing a date on the outer envelope, giving an incorrect date on the outer envelope, or sending in a “naked ballot” without the inner envelope, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. These ballots, which come from mostly older voters and trend Democratic, may be rejected unless voters take action. This includes requesting a replacement ballot
The Fix Is In: Democrat John Fetterman

Democrat Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman said in a memo to reporters to “buckle up for a long week” because the ballot counting process could take “several days.” Why? The only reason why Democrats need to count ballots for several days after Election Day is to overcome the Republican candidate’s vote count and steal the election. Fetterman used the 2020 election as an example in his memo to reporters and recalled how Trump was ahead by more than 700,000 votes at midnight on Election Day in Pennsylvania but still lost after the Democrats counted ballots in secret for Joe Biden for 2 weeks.

Donald Trump held a rally in Pennslyvania tonight, but as usual, the candidates running for office were an afterthought. As Canada’s National Post noted, doctors around the world are normally “explicitly prohibited or strongly discouraged” from bringing up the subject of euthanasia, even in jurisdictions where assisted suicide is legal.
