Washington — A former Capitol Police officer who warned a Jan. 6 defendant about a post that said he was inside the Capitol building was found guilty on one count of felony obstruction of justice by a jury on Friday.
Michael Riley was indicted in October 2021 on two counts of obstruction of justice and resigned from the Capitol Police force shortly thereafter. At his trial this month, federal prosecutors argued that Riley "betrayed" his oath by sending Jan. 6 defendant Jacob Hiles a Facebook message, warning that the FBI and law enforcement were planning to charge everyone who entered the building.

So a cop tells a buddy to take down an incriminating FB post and is convicted of a felony, but a black cop kills an unarmed white woman in cold blood and gets VIP interviews on the news. That seems fair.

#4, Excellent point. I can’t believe what is happening with this J6th travesty of justice.
We have definitely turned a corner toward totalitarianism in this country when something like this goes on. It is antithetical to justice. It is a kangaroo court operating at the highest level in our government with little to no push back from legal scholars or elected representatives. Kevin McCarthy pretty much threw in the towel early on and this abomination continues to play out. Good honest men are being railroaded, overcharged and sent off to prison for exorbitant sentences for what are in reality are misdemeanor charges. This is political prosecution at its worst. Outrage is the proper response because the truth is if democrats can do this to these men, they can do it to anyone. This whole debacle is nothing more than intimidation by democrats with the unsaid warning of if you cross us, we will punish you.
The silence by the legal community’s learned scholars is very telling and makes this illegal show trial possible. There is little courage to speak out against injustice when the cost to do so is high and that is what democrats are counting on. Intimidation is working. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. ~ Edmund Burke

Apparently the DC jury almost couldn’t swallow it. Good thing the defendant wasn’t jay walking at the time of sending the message or he really would have been nailed.
Endless squandering of everything so the dims can have more power.

Seems to me this Capitol Police officer did more to protect Nancy & her co-workers than Nancy did. He should be thanked, not jailed. Is it obstruction of justice if I flash my headlights to give a heads up to oncoming traffic that there's a radar trap up around the corner? If the goal is safety, don't both accomplish that? No, the goal wasn't safety at all in either case. God save us.

We all need to remember that 150+ DC Police resigned after January 6th and over 250+ resigned during the Fascist Democrat Brown Shirts code named Antifa and BLM; after riots, vandalism, looting and arson in the Summer of 2020. This man is in honesty and integrity good company. Want to exonerate the fascistbook poster, show us the evidence of 14,000 hours of Capital security camera streams the Nazis have kept from the Senate, public and defense attorneys review. The number of staged federal outsiders and insiders would amaze all of us.

The Capitol Clowns and the Feebs might have pulled the whole thing off if they had not opened the doors and welcomed the protesters into the Capitol. When somebody invites you in, that's called a welcome, not an insurrection.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson, is an Obama judge in D.C. She would send her grandma to prison if it helped the demonrats. She was the judge in the Roger Stone case and we saw the corrupt jury vote in that case. Jury foreman (woman) was a big activist for the Left, hated Trump with much evidence and many posts saying so. So Stone's jury was tainted and Judge Jackson with that evidence, wouldn't declare a mistrial. Jackson, an evil and corrupt judge.

Why shouldn't a cop any cop warn people of the possiblitly of arrest on any charge by any officer of the law? What exactly is the crime? To warn a person that they will be guilty of a crime is now a crime? How does that work? These people are truly what they accuse republicans of being, they are true gestapo wannabes. I have never seen the democrat party behave so much like the communist party.

Telling someone what the consequences of an action is not obstructing justice. He is trying to prevent a crime. Unless, of course the plan was entrapment. Get the crowd riled up with embedded agitators and then open the doors for them to enter. Only the Democrats could think of this.

Botox Nancy planned the jan 6th and refused President Trump's request for the national guard the days before the gathering....the fact that Nancy's hostages still in jail after two years time is an outrage...the swamp has done these folks a great injustice and in the end...when they sue...the taxpayer's will pay the fine...and botox Nancy will fly off to Italy and never be called out on her crimes against America...

Petty. This ranks below double parking. I wonder if the J6 prosecutors will be going after all those in the business of taking the rims and tires off cars in DC, a crime 100x this one.

Why aren't we hearing about the trials of the vast number of the armed "insurrectionists" which would have been required to overthrow the government?
How were they going to defend their newly won Capitol from the eventual onslaught by police and national guard? There may have been a few nuts in the crowd but I believe they were mostly left wing nuts hired to make the protest as ugly as possible.

So - a Capitol Hill cop had a buddy who bragged in a post about being inside the Capitol on Jan 6. The cop learned that the FBI was going to charge everyone who had been in there that day, so he advised his buddy to take down that post about being inside the Capitol. Now the cop has been found guilty.of obstructing justice.
