As a conservative profoundly involved in the “culture wars,” I have come to realize that the problem I have is not with liberals, Leftists, apostles of Woke, and other assorted ideologues and disreputables. I expect nothing from them but deceit, vulgarity, hate-spew, and ignorance, and so do not feel especially shocked by their behavior. The problem I have is with conservatives, too many of whom do not appear to fully honor conservative principles and values. They often seem to temporize with their antagonists, can act at times quite autocratically, and are occasionally distressingly superficial in their assessments of contemporary events. Human, all too human,

Perhaps this should be titled something like, "Many Politicians SAY they are Conservative..."

Mr. Solway. It is extremely irritating for you not to have named the guilty parties. Yes, I know who wrote 'The Feminine Mystique' but others to whom you refer aren't obvious or well known. Of course one should not speak ill of the dead but a critique of their activities is not an ad hominem attack.

I thought it was a great article. Facts are enough, if I want actual names, they are easy enough to find on the internet. We need to start calling out this hypocrisy. Last Monday I sent an email directly to the CEO of the corporation I work for, on the topic of the "abortion travel expense" subsidy. I pulled no punches and pray the Lord uses it for change. The article could have made one point more strongly, IMHO. "Conservative" must be rooted in spirituality. Otherwise, we can expect to see paradoxes.

We need to go to the core problem. Eliminate all Leftists from the Press, Leadership in Corporations, all of Governments, local/state/Federal and get rid of Commies at Universities. Once their bully pulpit is gone they will be sheep! No need for a plan, just do it!

When is the last time you heard a Leftist note the excesses of BLM/Antifa in their "activism"? Who apologizes for the Leftist attempts to intimidate judges? When have you heard any Leftist decry the treatment of J6 political prisoners?
The real weakness of "conservatives" is that they equivocate and neuter/dilute their points time and again. They have apparently come to fear that they are out of touch with popular opinion rather than attempting to influence and steer that opinion - so punches are pulled. Cogent argument gives way to scripture readings that the Left dismisses out of hand. And then the shoutdown starts, conservatives retreat rather than be accused of impolite behavior, muttering to themselves about picking up the litter before leaving the field.
Where are the "Free the J6 Patriot" rallies, or t-shirts? I see more Che and Mandela shirts on the streets. I know, Thursday is choir practice, and it can go on one's permanent record if you get arrested. And you know what? Leftists don't give a damn.

Unfortunately the real problem with conservative political power is not Rhinos per se, it is our core conservative political ideals. Unlike the left the core prinicple of conservatism is individual liberty. Since every individual is not only free to make their own choices they are encouraged to fight for them. Diversity of opinion is the only diversity that matters.
What this means for us is that on every subject there are as many positions and opinions as there are conservatives. Getting things done in a political system is therefore akin to herding cats because individuals are, well, individuals.
The left does not suffer from this affliction, their core principle is, though they will vehemenently deny it, conformism. Everybody must conform to the opinions of the "experts" who know best how everything should work. The entire democratic party is set up as a top down centrally controlled machine, they are the perfect example of the logical fallacy of the appeal to authority where authority is determined not by measureable metrics but by political expediency. You vote as you are told, you hold the opinions that the party has codified and you hate whoever the party "thought Leaders" tells you to hate. That machine mentality is why they are so hard to beat, no group of truly free people will ever attain that level of concentrated focus. The very idea of that level of conformity and central control is anathema to us.
That is also why you never see this kind of article on the left, if you are a conformist you simply accept what you are told and let the experts figure it out. If you are a free individual you will question everything, and often do so very loudly and very publically.
The right elevates and encourages exactly this type of criticism, on the left no one is allowed to do this, if you start to show these tendencies you are simply ostracized, silenced and pushed into the margins. There is no free ranging media outlet for renegade leftists, the right has hundreds. Unfortunateley our core beliefs of individual liberty also allows us to get distracted with all of our internal arguments and lose focus on the broader goals.

#8 has it exactly right and it is why I often suggest that we call ourselves Constitutionalists, with the faith that what our Founding Father's considered to exacting degree and debated 200+ years ago still applies and tried to ameliorate/settle via the US Constitution, to the point that if in the future something needs to be adjusted, a convention of the states would give the people of the country the ability to adjust. The brilliance of our Founding Fathers has been and especially today, has been continually downplayed and attacked by those who KNOW that if we all understood the truth in the Constitution, they would lose power. So we need to set ourselves as those who would defend what so many have died and fought to defend. I also agree that we need to renew our spirituality and faith in God, but even God gave his children Free Will, with only the Ten Commandments as the rules to follow.
Let's quit letting the media and unfaithful setting the terms for what a conservative believes. Let's defend the American Constitution. When it came about, so many other countries tried to create their own versions of it and failed and there is a reason why. Let's have more faith that it actually works!

The author is, and most of his reference points are, Canadian. A Canadian “conservative” is ideologically closer to Bill Clinton than Ronald Reagan. American politicians labeled as RINOS are not, nor have they ever been, conservative.
