Australia’s Cameron Smith leads the 150th British Open at the halfway stage after a superb second round of 64 on Friday left him on 13 under par for the tournament, while Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy lurk just behind, but an emotional Tiger Woods failed to make the weekend.
Smith, the world number six with the trademark mullet, followed an opening 67 with an eight-under-par second round to lead by two strokes from Young, the 25-year-old New Yorker. Brisbane-native Smith’s round on Friday featured six birdies – including at each of the first three holes – an eagle at the par-five 14th, and no dropped shots.

I’ve written more than once that the Associated Press is our number one source of liberal press bias, so this comes as a surprise. At a time when the Left is trying to use gun control to stave off electoral disaster, the AP unexpectedly gets rational:
"The Stylebook's weapons entry offers guidance on terms including semi-automatic rifle, assault rifle, assault weapon, military-style rifle and modern sporting rifle." (Snip)
“Avoid assault rifle and assault weapon, which are highly politicized terms….” Exactly. There is literally no such thing as an “assault rifle” or “assault weapon.” These are made-up political phrases that have no meaning in the real world.

Republicans in 2020 attacked Biden over his age. Now Democrats are doing it, insisting that he shouldn't run because he's "too old".
(Why Biden and not Pelosi and Clyburn to name a few in the House Dem leadership alone?)
I've had as much fun cracking senility jokes as anyone else, but tracking Biden's career, he spent his Senate era telling crazy lies, spewing word salads, rambling inanely and generally embarrassing himself and everyone around him.
This isn't a recent development.
Talking about Biden's age is a copout. The real issue with Biden isn't that he's old, it's who he is and who he's always been, corrupt, egotistical and utterly over his head.

New York’s bizarro governor, radical Democrat Kathy Hochul, whose party just rammed totalitarian anti-gun laws through the state legislature in Albany, seems to thinks she’s Jesus Christ.
Is this characterization of Hochul hyperbole? Decide for yourself.
In a wildly under-reported public sermon last year, Hochul zealously denounced the unvaccinated, accusing them of defying God’s will. The unvaccinated people she vilified are her own constituents. They have good reasons, religious or medical or otherwise, for avoiding the various vaccines, all of which have been shown to have serious side effects. The fact they reject the vaccines should not be her concern, but that would not be in keeping with leftist public health dogma,

As the Hunter Biden story continues to explode in scandal and scope, it’s becoming impossible to hide. Even if Fake News and Big Tech keep up their efforts to suppress it, it’s so vast and egregious that it’s going to erupt into a campaign issue in the fall — and Democrats can’t have that.
I previously predicted that party handlers would keep Biden in place until after the midterm elections, then use him as a sop for all the Democrat’s failure vibes before jettisoning him ahead of the 2024 election season. But now, I don’t think they can wait that long: Hunter’s laptop and iPhone disaster is ballooning out of control.

For decades, states have competed with one another for businesses by touting local economic advantages in areas like taxation, development incentives, workforce quality, and regulatory policy. Occasionally, states would also pitch themselves to firms on more general principles like quality of life and public investment in schools and infrastructure. Now the battle for jobs and for wealthier residents has taken a new turn, reflecting the increasingly intense cultural wars playing out in America. Facing a steadily more difficult economic battlefield, governors of Democratic-led states are pitching businesses based on social issues: access to abortion, transgender rights, and voting laws.

The Left has a rather schizophrenic attitude toward protests and demonstrations. Some are wonderful, like the George Floyd riots, which were not, in fact, protests at all. Or like arson and other destruction committed at pro-life facilities. Others are detestable, like the Dutch farmers’ protests, or the French “yellow vests,” or the Canadian truckers. Some protests, too, can only be ignored, like when hundreds of thousands of pro-life citizens show up for their annual march in Washington.
Currently the Left is “demonstrating” against the Supreme Court justices who concurred in the Dobbs decision. A few nights ago, as Scott has noted, left-wingers harassed Justice Brett

Timothy Snyder, Levin Professor of History at Yale, describes what he sees as the Kremlin’s plan to drive the Third World poor into Western countries to break European support for Ukraine. “Russia has a hunger plan. Vladimir Putin is preparing to starve much of the developing world as the next stage in his war in Europe. In normal times, Ukraine is a leading exporter of foodstuffs. A Russian naval blockade now prevents Ukraine from exporting grain. If the Russian blockade continues, tens of millions of tons of food will rot in silos, and tens of millions of

According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his chief accountant Chrystia Freeland, runaway inflation and the recession it announces are something of a godsend. Price increases, she said in a recent address, are “a reminder of why climate action is so important, and why we have to work…faster towards a green economy.” The benefits, according to this authority, are clear: More green energy, lower prices. The claim is so fatuous as to induce intellectual migraine.
Over the last few hours, I have been reviewing our last week’s expenditures and current financial status, and I find the red column expanding faster than Freeland’s race to Green:

The New York Post headline reads “Biden’s approval rating craters to 30% after brutal week.” Reading the same poll, RedState’s Nick Arama comments perceptively on the numbers in “Prepare for the Biden Tantrum.”
What more is to be said? The reported poll is one of registered voters. If it were filtered to reflect likely voters, I have to think the results would be slightly worse. On that point, we shall see.
I think that every time Biden makes a public appearance he loses ground. He is visibly infirm. He sounds stupid. How many times can he say “Not a joke” without someone giving him the hook. It’s a joke!

During Prohibition, Al Capone’s Chicago gang made the Thompson submachine gun a symbol of gang violence. The “Chicago Typewriter” could empty a hundred-round drum magazine in under ten seconds, and make headlines, while occasionally perforating both targets and bystanders.
Congress saw an opportunity to “do something,” and “wasn’t willing to let a ‘crisis’ go to waste.” The ultimate result is the National Firearms Act of 1934 (“NFA”), which was later amended by the Gun Control Act of 1968 (“GCA”). The net result is that certain firearms and firearm-related items have seriously disfavored status, completely unrelated to anything having to do with crime or Constitution.

After suffering from weeks of brutal food and fuel shortages, as well as crippling inflation, Sri Lankans have had enough.
Riots have broken out throughout the impoverished country. Police have used tear gas and water cannons but to little effect.
Shortly after thousands of angry citizens stormed the presidential palace, even going so far as to swim in his pool, Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared that he will step down. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe agreed to resign as well after his home was torched.
NOW – Protesters storm the presidential palace in Sri Lanka's capital.
