Harley-Davidson Inc (HOG.N) said on Thursday it will suspend vehicle assembly and shipments for a two-week period, excluding those from its electric-vehicle division LiveWire, due to a parts issue related to a supplier. The iconic motorbike maker said the decision was made after a third-party supplier, which was not named, informed Harley about a regulatory compliance matter relating to its component part. The company began outsourcing bike production for shipment to the EU from the United States in 2018 in response to retaliatory tariffs imposed by the EU on steel and aluminum products. Interesting how we all just accept "supply chain issues" now. They have no intention of solving the problem. They are training us to accept an economy of scarcity, which is what socialism always creates.

Perhaps due more to economic expectations than to some mysterious problem making a part. The cost of a new Harley is not trivial and very few people cannot live w/o one.

One cannot find a rebuild kit for a large truck in the whole United States of Amerika. Dealers are hoarding them for their own use. These parts problems are gonna shut down more than Harley Davidson. We can live without motorcycles. One day these will be the good old days.

Can’t have a Harley without also a pickup full of spare parts, oil, lube etc. following you around! No spare parts…no special “rider experience”!

My 68 year old husband bought his first Harley several years ago after wanting one forever. He started with a Sportster, then an anniversary Fat Boy, and now has a Free Wheeler. It's all about the pipes; how does that work with an e- bike? Might as well have a BMW.

They'd better figure out how to make it sound like a Harley because that is the main draw and has been for decades. If you want a smooth, dependable and quiet ride, you'd be considering a Japanese bike, anyway......

Why is a company taking on a different product line such a problem for some people? I don't get it. If one is a supporter of free markets, whether Harley or anyone manufactures vehicles powered by electricity or kumquat juice is hardly cause for ire. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki established a consortium to develop swappable batteries for e-motorcycles to standardize the technology and ensure batteries can work in a range of brands. Kawasaki reportedly will be bringing out its e-bike soon, and announced it will be all e-bikes by 2035. BTW: I happen to own two HDs bikes, a BMW, and have owned other Japanese and European makes in the past. I'm not a fan of e-bikes and will never own one. You're welcome to make your own choice...if you ride.

The Pennsylvania Republican U.S. Senate primary election is still too close to call, the Associated Press reported Friday. The AP, which is the official source the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and several media outlets use to call races, said Friday it would not be making a call in the race that will likely head into a statewide recount between celebrity heart surgeon Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick. As of 5 p.m. Friday, just 1,079 votes separated Mr. Oz from Mr. McCormick. Mr. Oz was leading Mr. McCormick by 0.08%, which is well within the requirements for an automatic

SEOUL — One of President Biden’s security officers was arrested and accused of assaulting a South Korean citizen in Seoul a few hours before Biden arrived in the country, according to South Korean police. The individual was detained early Thursday, an official with Seoul’s Yongsan district police said Friday. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident, declined to comment further. South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper, which first reported the case Friday, said the suspect was allegedly drunk and got into a fight with a South Korean over a taxi

California energy officials issued a sobering warning this month, telling residents to brace for potential blackouts as the state’s energy grid faces capacity constraints heading into the summer months. And since the state has committed to phase out all new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 — well ahead of federal targets — the additional load from electric vehicle (EV) charging could add more strain to the electric grid. “Let’s say we were to have a substantial number of [electric] vehicles charging at home as everybody dreams,” Ram Rajagopal, an associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, who authored
