A group of rowdy teens have harassed and attacked workers in an East Village deli near Tompkins Square Park for months, but the police have done nothing about it, the store owner says. Jay Patel, owner of Sheen Brothers Deli at 157 Avenue B, says he has called the police time and again about the teen terrors, but cops have told him their hands are tied. “I was calling the police officers every day. Those kids come in the store,” Patel said. “Sometimes, they have a metal rod, and sometimes, a baseball bat. ... The police say they can’t do anything.” In one security video, teens punch a clerk repeatedly

Yet, if they were 'acting rowdy' in City Hall they'd be in Rikers Island. Double standard much?

Time to convert to strictly carry out through a service window. You get your food after you pay.

FTA: “I can’t hit them, because they are kids!” Patel said.
If they're assaulting the staff, mace the punks.

I don't get this - robbing/stealing goods under $1K is one thing but these hoodlums are physically attacking people & the police do nothing & say they can do nothing? W T F?

If the "teens" can't be arrested then the owners should just punch and hit back and they shouldn't be arrested either. If they are they can easily plead self defense.

They voted for these imposters who say they can govern their cities. Time to string them up and get a Guliani type back in there.

NYC. Been there. No need to be there again. If this crap wasn't OK with New Yorkers they wouldn't put up with it. If they're OK with living like that, I'm OK with them living like that.

I suggest the owners should watch the u-tube of the fight scene from the 1993 movie, A Bronx Tale. Just lock the door and give 'em a taste of these "bat flu"".

The article is behind a paywall so I can't access it, but I'm assuming the term 'rowdy teen's' is a euphemism for Amish?

I saw the pictures of the "rowdy yutes," and honestly could not identify if they were "Amish" or not.
That being said, we got our fair share of rotten apples in the Caucasian race as well. Mostly, they turn up as elected Democrat politicians, though.

Bet if the owner hurts or kills one of these 'rowdies', he ends up in jail. Don't put up with this. Screw the neighborhood. Nobody is protecting you.
Move your business to a safer location. Probably make more money too.

They're not unhinged, just rowdy. The owners of the store pay taxes but receive no protection from the police.
