Concern over a broader conflict has led Finns to buy large quantities of anti-radiation iodine tablets and to prepare a thousand beds for fleeing Ukrainians as Russia threatens consequences if the country joins NATO.
Pharmacies across Finland have claimed that stocks of iodine tablets, which are used to combat the effects of radiation and nuclear fallout, have run low and, in some cases, have sold out completely, as Finns fear the war in Ukraine could spread.
“There has been strong demand in the last couple of weeks,” pharmacist Eero Suihko told broadcaster YLE.

I seem to recall that there's no love lost between the Finns and the Russians at all. The Finns are no slouches on the battlefield themselves, and, actually, they are the ones who invented the Molotov cocktail. So, if Pooty-Poot wants to stir up that hornet's nest, he does so at his own risk.

#1 is correct. The Russians won their 1939 war with Finland but they killed the invaders by the bushel.

My first permanent change of station, USAF, June 1956, was to Plattsburgh AFB NY, which was a Strategic Air Command base, with B 47 bombers and KC 97 in flight refuelers. General Curtis LeMay was head of SAC, and believed in constant training, and in keeping 1/3 of his bombers airborne at any time, loaded with nuclear bombs.
LeMay was a brilliant general who rarely agreed with anyone about anything. I liked him.
He did two things for the enlisted ranks.
He visited bases, sometimes incognito, and if he saw an airman pick up a piece of litter without being asked, General LeMay would grant a spot promotion. And if LeMay saw an unhappy airman, he would ask the airman if he was enjoying USAF service. If the airman said no, LeMay would grant an honorable discharge and send the airman home.
Here is my main point. George Wallace selected Curtis LeMay as his running mate in 1968, during a troubled time in U.S. history. And LeMay, as head of the USAF, had kept us safe from the Soviets, who probably saw LeMay as insane. But LeMay was a warrior, deserved credit for shaping our military, and also was a target of leftists.
When Wallace announced LeMay as his running mate choice, there were questions from the reporters - one dealing with nuclear bombs.
And LeMay gave a wonderful; answer.
"What is so terrible about Nuclear bombs?" LeMay asked. And George Wallace said, "He didn't say that!" Let's add context. In World War II, LeMay led the firebombing runs on Tokyo. One could argue those firebombing were as devastating as the A bombs. But eventually, the radiation falls.
(If you go to wikipedia, you will find someone wrote that LeMay was a fan of nuclear bombs. He was not. But he understood the tools of war.)

How does Iodine stand up to 10,000 degree heat? If you are fortunate you will not be around to need the radiation treatment.

WOW!
The people of Finland buy their own stuff and don't rely on a government handout.

The Finns have plenty of sisu--that's guts in Finnish--and that 1939 war was only the first they fought with the Soviets forcing them eventually out. They were a borderland all through the Cold War.
Food for thought: notice Putin's weight gain and 'moonface'--rumors are out there that he's taking steroids for an unknown condition. He's not speaking or acting in his usual manner, which is not to expend a lot of money or effort to corrupt a neighboring country. Steroids in high quantities affect thought processes and in really high amounts make people delusional.

The Finns defeated the Russians twice in WW2 and before in their Winter War. This is why Finland is still an independent country.

This whole narrative reminds me of something. What is it? Oh, yeah. I remember. The beginning, hysterical narrative for Covid. Perhaps the government/media saw how easy it was the first time and decided to use it again. Seems to be working this time, as well.

Everyone under about 50 or 60 should have a supply of potassium iodide pills. If you are older than that, the thyroid damage takes longer than you are likely to live to turn into cancer.
But I keep mine.

One Finn sniper, Simo Hayha, killed over 500 Russians. They called him "White Death". Of course, he was a superbly conditioned cross country skiier and would take out one or two and then ski off into the untracked wilderness of Finland in his white camo where their trucks could not go, and faster and farther than they could follow.

Nuclear war would mean the end of everything, even Russia. Putin knows that. Nobody wants to live back in the dark ages. But in the case of WW3, have you noticed they don’t have drills anymore where kids go under the desk and antics like that. The nuclear war of today has no survival options you’re just going to French fry and if you do happen to survive their radiation levels that will be so bad it would be unimaginable. Every other country now has nuclear weapons and when they start going off every government in the world is going to release their rath. Nuclear war should have been abandoned years ago because wars are just a scenario where nuclear accidents happen.
