The midterm elections are still 10 months away but Democrats in Congress have been panicking about their prospects.
They aren’t good. The voters are exhausted by COVID restrictions, worried about inflation, and uncertain that the president is up to the task of governing.
When politicians get into trouble, the first thing they think about is how to throw money at the voters to distract them from their problems. Accordingly, Democrats in Congress are looking to ease the high cost of gas at the pump by suspending the 18-cent-a-gallon federal gas tax.

What an idiotic idea. Jezus you got to be kidding me. Typical thinking for democrats. Let's all lineup and pee on a raging house fire to put it out.

Why not reinstate the pipelines shut down by you know who? Reinstate all the leases that were declared off-limits and wait a couple of months for the energy to start slowly rolling in? It might take a while longer than the one-day shut down by The One Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken Aloud, but it will get going eventually in like a year or so and after the election.

How about all the states with insane taxes on gas? No? Won’t make a diff.! CA will probably raise theirs and take the extra money that would have gone to DC!

Completely unnoticeable dent here. Depend on on which station I go to, prices vary by 30 cents or more. No one will notice 18.
Everywhere is over $5/gallon here. 18 cents is so small doesn't matter. And they'll just find some other way to mail us anyway.

California has huge gas taxes. My consolation as I tool around Southern California in my V6 Mustang convertible is that it is the only tax ilegal aliens and unemployed Democrat POC pay. Keep the tax; today standard gasoline in west LA, Pacific Palisades goes for $5.499 . Almost 5.50 thanks to Biden and the Courtesan.

While I’m in favor of reducing taxes always, this will create more demand and not increase supply, thus exacerbating the root problem. In addition, revenues will go down thus exacerbating the deficit and making inflation even worse.

I paid 3.39 a gallon at the same place that just over a year ago I paid 1.77.
IF we were to go back to energy independence AND build some REFINERIES, we could have .99 cent gas.

When gas is north of $4 bucks a gallon, 18 cents is a spit in the ocean....

.18 x 15 gallons = $2.70 saved per fill-up x 52 weeks = $140.00 year. Won’t offset the price increases in gas, yet alone all the other price increases across the board.

They actually reallllly want a price Cap on a Gallon of Gas to speed up Green/electric vehicles in US/World! During Obama, Kruggie suggested $4.00 per gallon cap then. $9.00? Be ready!

Eliminating the 18.4-cent-a-gallon federal gas tax is an insignificant symbolic gesture. Now, selling those oil and gas leases that Biden is required to do by law would go a long way toward lowering gas prices. So would completing the Keystone XL pipeline. But, Biden refuses to do either one of these things..

They have raised the price of gas ten times their paltry proposed reduction. We should be thankful?
