A Canadian COVID Hysteric Goes to Florida
and Absolute Hilarity Ensues

Original Article

What possesses a person to travel to another country for a luxury vacation only to complain it doesn’t mimic the dystopian hellscape they came from? I wouldn’t know, but perhaps Josh Freed, a writer for the Montreal Gazette, can offer some insight. That’s exactly what he did after vacationing in Florida and then returning to his home in Quebec, Canada. The obvious COVID hysteric penned an entire piece detailing the horrors of freedom that await those traveling to the Sunshine State, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time.

Comments:

Why is the hypocrite engaging in unnecessary travel? All the virtue-signaling wealthy celebrities, greedy politicians, and pampered overpaid athletes have been telling us to ''stay home, save lives''. Here we have Mr. Holier-than-thou-collective-responsibility traveling to another country during a pandemic to brow-beat the unenlightened foreigners for their reckless behavior. If he is so concerned, then why is he going into crowded public places? He even admitted that he engages in the Potemkin stupidity of wearing a mask while sitting at a restaurant table, but then takes it off to eat. Of course, pathogens cannot infect you while you are eating. Moron.

Canadians act like subjects. Americans (used to) act like citizens. Its a completely different mind set. Subjects obey orders no matter how stupid. Citizens may or may not, depending on how stupid the orders are.

PS. Freed is also a Jew raised in Catholic Quebec. Our impression of Quebec was that they don’t really like anyone but themselves and those who are like them. Freed has had his crosses to bear. Pun intended.

That said, I think this guy was trying to be funny with some of his remarks but was bombing out. I spent some time working by contract in Montreal and found the people to be terrified of their government. Why else would they pay 50% income tax, pay outrageous sums for healthcare and then come to the US when they get sick. I flew up one Monday morning and was advised by the company that I was working for that unless I bought a Canadian work permit (Billy Bob Clinton NAFTA rule) I could not continue to work until I flew home and then flew back so I could buy the permit at the airport on the way in. I said good bye and never went back.

The Biden administration has, at long last, finally decided to follow the law — only just a bit. And it really doesn't want people to know about it either way, which is why the announcement was made on Good Friday afternoon. After refusing to comply with a court order requiring him to sell leases for oil and gas exploration on federal land last year, Biden is finally succumbing to the pressure of high gas prices. That's the good news. The bad news is that he is selling a mere fraction of the leases the government would normally sell. This probably belongs in the category of "better than nothing."

Joe Biden will almost certainly not attend the coronation of King Charles III. The official reason is that he is making a trip to Ireland that simply can’t be canceled. The media have focused on two reasons he won’t be there: (1) Eisenhower didn’t attend so there’s no tradition for presidents to attend, and (2) Biden hates the British. I think there are two more likely reasons: (1) Charles III’s coronation is an event without cachet, and (2) it’s impossible for Biden to withstand the rigors of the long coronation ceremony and any pre- and post-ceremony events. Indeed, my money is on the last reason being the real reason.
