Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson officially announced Sunday that he is running for reelection, parting ways with a 2016 promise to only serve two terms because he believes the Democrats’ "complete takeover of government" has put America in "peril." Johnson announced in The Wall Street Journal that he will run for a third term in Wisconsin – a key battleground state that President Biden narrowly carried in the 2020 election. "During the 2016 campaign, I said it would be my last campaign and final term," Johnson wrote. "That was my strong preference, and my wife’s – we both looked forward to a normal private life. And thus begins the career politician.
Arrogance and pride take over "serving my country". After all, I'm indispensable. Nobody can do this as well as I can. (Plus the perks, power, prestige, and money are all things that I have earned and deserve.)

After watching Sen. Johnson preside over a long session discussing the harm that various people had developed from The Shots, it was clear that he was an unusually brave man, and not following the leftist centrally planned story line.
I am glad that he changed his mind. He's one of the very, very rare good guys. We need him and more like him.

I do not oppose, nor do I support, Senator Johnson's decision to run again. If he does not run again, he is likely to be replaced by someone who will be a doormat for career politicians, lobbyists, and bureaucrats. However, the longer he spends in Washington, the more the career politicians, lobbyists, and bureaucrats have to figure out which buttons to push to get him to serve their purposes. Even when an elected official stays loyal to their constituents, over time the "Deep State" learns how to co-opt them.

Ron Johnson is one of a very few who are courageous fighters for freedom. I am very glad he is running again Becky he has a good chance of winning, and some other Republican might not.
I have little faith in Republican politicians—but Senator Johnson is a good one.

I’m sure he’s a fine fellow, but the morphine of politics seems to always be too much.

He has been doing good work. In our world as it has been through Clinton, Obama and now Biden, with all the corruption that attended their administrations, we need someone with a sense of the history and continuity. I think he is just fine and far, far better than most.
On Ron Johnson, I strongly disagree with #1. One description does not fit all.

"– a key battleground state that President Biden narrowly carried in the 2020 election." We've never seen the complete election audit form Wisconsin, from what I understand. Of course, wanting to see a complete audit makes me just another conspiracy theorist.

Having heard from him on local radio I know he was struggling with it I also know a lot of people were pushing him to to run again. He’s one of the very few looking into the harmful effects of the shot. As #2 mentions

This is more proof that NO politician's promise is worth a hoot. It doesn't matter what party, race or sex. They are all pathological liars. At the first sign of corruption they should be imprisoned with the pedophiles and cannibals, where they'll feel more at home.

Seems like he actually does his homework cares about America…
Pray he wins and his experience is a definite plus. Now get on board conservative, articulate, constitutional Wisconsin people, no matter your party registration.
He is known no doubt much better in Wisconsin, that’s vital for such a time as this.

DC swamp-itis gets to the best of them. Ted Cruz proved that he is massively infected with swamp-itis this past week. Now Ron Johnson is showing that he has the bug too.
And there is only one solution: Term Limits!!!! 2 terms in Congress (either 2 terms in the House, or 2 terms in the Senate, or one term in each). No retirement. No special perks. Just two terms as a citizen legislator, and then back to your regular life!!!

He is correct. NO Republican should retire this time. Too much chance that some terdheaded dim-0 will take the seat if an incumbent is not running for it.

EVERY congress person, once elected, carries all those perks for the rest of their life.
