Following Retirement Rumors, Republican
Whip John Thune Announces Re-Election Bid

Original Article

Republican Whip John Thune of South Dakota announced Saturday that he would seek a fourth term in the Senate, following widespread rumors that he would retire from the upper chamber. Thune is seen as a potential heir to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and his retirement would have set off a power struggle at the top of the GOP conference. Members from all sides of the conference had expressed support for Thune, with Maine Sen. Susan Collins saying in December that she would be “beside [her]self” if the whip retired.

Comments:

McConnell's eventual replacement? Republicans could do a lot worse.

Who decides who gets to be leader? Who says Thune is the heir apparent? What's used to determine the ranking? Is it just a popularity contest without any Indepth review of past voting or political views? Out of nowhere, this guy named Thune is tapped as the next Senate leader. What is this based on?

Serena Williams is finally disappearing from tennis. That’s the good news. The bad news is that she sees her career “evolving,” which means she will force her idiot politics onto us from other platforms. Perhaps in a most fitting way then, Williams announced her retirement claiming life is unfair, sounding like a child that didn’t get a second ice cream cone. Apparently, unfair and oppressed means paying more for a single tennis outfit, worn for about two hours, than most people make in a year. Yahoo! You can always count on the New York Times to put its liberal spin on events. For instance, this breaking news headline: “Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader who transformed the map of Europe and presided over the end of the Cold War, has died at 91.” We can see the spin here: the Times gives Gorbachev credit for being the doer, using the two active-voice verbs “transformed” and “presided.” In other words, the Times is awarding the deceased communist kudos for ending the Cold War and liberating Eastern Europe. Not someone such as, say, the anti-communist Ronald Reagan or other heroes of anti-Soviet resistance.

There are essentially three types of celebrities who weigh in on politics, and they normally come from either Hollywood, the music industry, or the sports world. The most common is the bright but detached, ill-informed but vocal leftist. In this category, we find mostly obnoxious hypocrites such as Matt Damon, Oprah Winfrey, and Sean Penn. The next group can be described as dumb-as-a-stump ignoramus liberals, who tend to be the loudest and most annoying, and are almost as plentiful as the first category. Members of this class include Eminem, LeBron James, and Mark Ruffalo, and the list seems to be growing by the day.

When it comes to examples of leftwing bias in the mainstream media, there is perhaps no better example than former CNN host Brian Stelter. Most of the clowns on MSNBC don’t pretend to be neutral and will come right out and admit their leftism. The broadcast networks’ talking heads are much more subtle and have therefore become adept at hiding their affiliations with the Democratic Party. And, of course, outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post have scores of ‘journalists’ who would give Stelter a run for their far-left money, but we’re not forced to see their big heads on TV screens when walking through an airport.
