President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.

When will they start converting refineries into power plants, to provide the electricity for recharging?

Literal insanity. Electric vehicles are not practical, not affordable. This forcing of them on people won't end well.
Billions WILL be wasted on this useless mess.

Should be hilarious. They won't have enough power plants to run all these liberal toys. The sight of the future "Presidential Prius" being towed off the freeway will be awesome.

Less carbon dioxide in the air will decrease crop yields meaning less food, and more starvation.

Is "the Beast" going to be electric?? All of the other 80+ vehicles that make up Zhou's motorcade electric?? We tried this during "Zeros" administration. I was on a Joint Base, the Air Force took over the TMP vehicles (vans, pickups, etc.). They purchase some pathetic EVs to show they were cutting edge. The little EVs sat - no one used them, they couldn't haul stuff, had a very limited range/endurance, and were a worthless "investment" - but hey, it looked good.

I need to invest in products that suppress electrical fires. With millions of people plugging in all their cars at the same time at night, it will be a 'hot' investment opportunity.

A useless gesture. EO's can be rolled back as soon as he leaves office and the new POTUS hopefully has some common sense.
By 2035? C'mon man! Bidet will be long gone by then, one way or another, so he won't face the consequences.
And we all know that the elite and other important people will still be using internal combustion vehicles, because c'mon man, they are more important and deserving than ordinary peasants.
Let's go Brandon.

As soon as President Trump takes office again in January of 2025, as soon as he reverses all pro-abortion dictatorial decrees that not-my-president Lyin' Joe biden put in place, I truly hope this is the second thing he will reverse!!!
Stupid, useless, and evil -- like everything biden has done since this election was stolen for this senile old dictator-wanna-be!!!!!

If by signing an executive order that makes all the federal vehicles become electric powered, then he must be some kind of wizard, because that would take some really powerful magic.

I predict before 2030, the federal government will make it illegal for gas-powered vehicles to drive on federal highways. And if any city, county or state government gets federal funds for road maintenance, they have to go by the same mandate. Just like the scamdemic.

These vehicles could become practical in about 30 years if the battery range problem is solved and we build about 50 nuclear plants country wide. If not the evs will remain a small share of the market...short mileage commuters and lefty snobs who think they are saving the planet. The only one of these oversized golf carts I would consider would be one of gasoline charging electrics like a Prius.
