Does anything say 'out of touch' better than the Democrats running Beto O'Rourke as its prime candidate for governor of Texas?
The hopeless stunt is supposedly all about O'Rourke's appeal to Latino voters. He has a Spanish nickname. He speaks Spanish. What Latino could refuse?
It's incredibly cynical and insulting to Latino voters, whom Texas Democrats consider key to winning back the governorship. That cynicism was obvious enough in this statement by a Texas Latino GOP observer:
"He uses Beto like he's our Mexican tío, but you're not," he said. "Just because you put the name out there doesn't mean I'm going to invite you to my house like you're my tío."

For Kamala Harris, she must be uttering the rich lady's lament right about now: You just can't get good staff anymore.
This time a big one has flown the coop, a veritable whale of a woman in significance, spokeswoman Symone Sanders. She's by far the highest-ranking Kamala official now to get the heck out of Dodge. Her exit follows a lot of other exits, which I wrote about here. And apparently it's not going to be the last one, these guys plan to leave after Sanders leaves.
Why would she do that? Two reasons stand out.
One, working for Kamala Harris is hell.

Chris "Fredo" Cuomo is one of the pampered princes at CNN whose usefulness to the network was pretty much nil after his bigger brother, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, went down in disgrace.
Now it comes to light that he was engaged in some despicable conflict-of-interest behavior that, as Rolling Stone noted, "would get any other journalist fired."
RS's unexpectedly good report is here:
Chris Cuomo hosts a primetime CNN show on which he discusses national political issues. He’s also the brother of Andrew Cuomo, the disgraced former governor of New York who resigned in August in the wake of a damning report detailing several allegations of sexual misconduct.

Anthony Fauci is a disturbed and disturbing man. An unelected bureaucrat who is consistently wrong about things (going back to AIDS), who used taxpayer money to help develop the COVID that plagues us, and who has funded indescribably cruel animal research, he is threatening to shut America down again, throwing mud at elected officials, and anointing himself as the embodiment of “science” in America. Never in American history has a megalomaniac had so much power and been so destructive.
I wrote the other day that, judging by the numbers of diagnoses and deaths in South Africa, the omicron variant seems unexciting.

The search for phantom voters is over. Phantom voters are sitting next to you at the restaurant or standing next to you at the bank. They are your friend and neighbor. You may be a phantom and not know it.
Phantom voters, the definition, is morphing from fake voters hiding in UPS boxes to people who advanced computer models predict will not vote.
Don't get me wrong — there are thousands of phantom voters living in churches, R.V. parks, cemeteries, homeless shelters, hotels, and virtual mailboxes. It's just that there are as many, perhaps more, who live active, healthy, honest lives on voter rolls.

Joe Biden has repeatedly claimed that high energy prices, including soaring prices at the pump, are some kind of priority for him. He's made loud noises for the cameras about a couple of piddly measures of his to cut energy costs for consumers, which would at best be temporary and at worst, useless. But out on the sly, he's stepping up his war on Big Oil, something he doesn't want you to know about, which will raise energy prices. He's still Creepy Joe.
On camera, he loves to say the things he thinks all those voters who now disapprove of him would like to hear.

Normally, when going to stay at a friend’s house, etiquette requires bringing a gift – say, flowers, some wine, or something to eat. But what about the strange circumstances Joe and Dr. Jill Biden face while staying at the Nantucket estate of multi-billionaire hedge fund founder David Rubenstein? It’s a really, really long (since Tuesday night) weekend stay, so one might wonder if Benjamin Franklin’s famous aphorism, that guests, like fish, start to smell after 3 days, comes into play. But nope, not a chance.
You see, while “visiting” their “friend’s” estate, Joe and Dr. Jill are not going to see the Rubensteins at all.

smug adjective, smug·ger, smug·gest. contentedly confident of one's ability, superiority, or correctness; complacent (dictionary.com) Smug is the word that best describes the nature of the Democrat party. This is certainly true now but smugness has always been the primary characteristic of the American left. Moral superiority is their claim to fame. Confidence in their ability is their currency. Complacency is their fatal flaw. So confident were Democrats in the rightness of their hatred for Donald Trump, they never questioned their own criminality undertaken to destroy the man. Self-righteousness is at the core of their being. Hillary Clinton is the smuggest

After France just barely saved the great cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris from a terrible fire in 2019, it now looks as though 'destruction' is paying the cathedral another visit.
According to Rod Dreher, writing at American Greatness:
The Telegraph‘s Tim Stanley, along with colleague Henry Samuel, scored quite a scoop: he reveals a secret plan to renovate — that is, wreckovate — Notre-Dame de Paris, and turn it into a Gothic Epcot Center. Read on:
Paris’ fire-ravaged Notre-Dame cathedral risks resembling a “politically correct Disneyland” under controversial plans for its renovation seen by the Daily Telegraph.

After I wrote my Kamala Harris shopping-spree piece here, deriding Harris's rude refusal to speak French to the locals at a fancy cookware shop in Paris, AT editor Thomas Lifson pointed out something important: Kamala Harris actually ought to be able to speak French. Here's how she did: (Snip for video) Turns out she was educated during her four high school years in Montreal, Canada, where her mother worked as a cancer researcher during the late 1970s, early 1980s. Montreal is Canada's top French-speaking city. In 1977, approximately just when she arrived, a law was passed in Quebec requiring the use of the French language.

So Kamala Harris, who's "never been to Europe" at least until her trip to France last week, made sure she got some shopping time for herself on her trip to ... Paris.
According to Fox News, she splashed out the dollar equivalent of $582 for cookware at a storied and tony boutique. E. Dehillerin, founded in 1820.
Vice President Kamala Harris spent over $500 on cookware in a Parisian shop amid rising inflation and economic uncertainty at home in the U.S.
The vice president visited the shop on her four-day diplomatic trip to Paris last week, reportedly dropping 516 euros on pots and pans at high-end cookware store E. Dehillerin.

It's hard to not find oneself full of contempt with the Biden White House, given its flatfooted response to soaring energy prices.
Nationwide average energy prices have shot up 70.63% since Joe took office back in January, going from $2.40 a gallon on Jan. 25, to $3.40 a gallon today, according to AAA data. In the eight western-most states in the union, plus Pennsylvania, the average goes as high as $4.71 a gallon. That comes on top of a record 69% rise in oil prices that occurred in the interim between Joe's "election" and the day Joe took office. That kind of pricing is known in markets as "anticipatory."
