What happened to the eviction crisis?

Original Article

Ever since the Supreme Court allowed the federal eviction moratorium to expire at the end of August, many activists have been on pins and needles waiting to see what would happen next. For well over a year we’d heard the warnings about an impending eviction crisis, and it certainly sounded like something that would probably happen. So many people lost their income in 2020 and were unable to keep up with their rent or mortgage payments that there should have been a flood of tenants and homeowners who were simply too far behind to catch up. But now, more than a month after the moratorium expired, the predicted wave

The eviction “crisis” was a manufactured scheme for rental property owners to default on loans due to tenants not required to pay rent, and the property eventually falling back into the real estate owned category, and owned by the lender. Thus creating a big control of the rental market and rent rates.

The CDC never lawfully had the power to declare an eviction moratorium, but grabbed it because of the "emergency."

Actually that was another federal welfare program through which the leftist and socialist Democrats could buy votes, the Democrats learned a big lesson from that. When they tell workers to stay home, sleep in, wear a face mask, and that in return they will send them more “free” federal money than they could earn working, that a lot of people are going to stay home and become couch potatoes. As Reagan essentially said, when the government comes calling they not your friend. Just ask any small business owner.

The 13% realized that it was less work to just pay their rent then to have to move all their stuff. And less work is what they're all about.

No eviction crisis in the SF Bay Area. First off, CA extended the rent "moratiorium" until Sept 30 (No, the recall election on Sept 14 had nothing to do with that! Move along, peasant!"). Second, some local rent "control" ordinances have gone full Commie. Everyone wants to out-virtue-signal Berkeley in the Bay Area. In my town, they implemented "eviction control". Renters can cook meth in their apartments, operate brothels in their apartments, and even destroy their apartments. The perps cannot be evicted without a hearing in front of the "eviction control council", who have held that the above activities are "free speech" (you know, like pooping on the sidewalk). And they have also held that non-payment of rent is not a valid cause for eviction. However, I assume putting a "Trump 2024" sign in your window would be a valid cause for eviction (if not outright execution).

On May 28, 2020, just three days after George Floyd was murdered by a police officer and the country was erupting with sometimes violent protests, progressive data analyst David Shor issued a warning about the efficacy of riots: The research wasn’t his own. He was merely acting as a messenger. But at that particular moment in time, Shor became the enemy for a lot of outraged people. He was accused of being a racist. He apologized but the company that had employed him decided to side with the mob calling for his head and fired him. Today, Ezra Klein published a piece about Shor’s work since then. Some days ago, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who is one of the moderates holding up Biden’s “build back better” agenda, was accosted and filmed in a public bathroom. The illegal immigrant activists blistered her for not supporting a pathway to citizenship via reconciliation, something the Senate parliamentarian has already said can’t be done anyway. But it was really the reaction to that scene that held the most impact. You expect far-left lunatics to be far-left lunatics. What Sinema probably didn’t expect was for Joe Biden to claim the attack was “part of the process,” while Bernie Sanders holds up a letter of condemnation.

President Biden did not mention a labor shortage in remarks following the release of a disappointing jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday. Biden blamed lower-than-expected hiring levels on the spread of the Delta variant of coronavirus. The Bureau’s report found that the U.S. added just 194,000 jobs in September, compared with the 500,000 expected by economists. “Remember, today’s report is based on a survey that was taken during the week of September 13…when COVID cases were averaging more than 150,000 per day,” Biden said. “Since then, we’ve seen the daily cases fall by more than one-third, and they’re continuing to trend down.” Biden also repeatedly

There’s a four-word expression that seems to be used a lot when it comes to Joe Biden and, in particular, his actions when it comes to the economy — fails to meet expectations. How many times have we heard this when talking about the jobs report under Biden? Well, here we are again. It’s October and now the September numbers are in and they “fail to meet expectations.” When even CNN has to say how bad it is, you know it’s bad. Here they are saying it’s “way less than expected,” less than last month, and “the worst of the year.”

According to economists, we’re at the beginning of a “shortage economy” where shortages of goods like electronics and clothing will become commonplace. Yes, the pandemic is partly to blame. Factories shut down and are just now revving up to full capacity. The “supply chain bottleneck” has become a fact of life. More than that, there’s almost $10 trillion worth of government stimulus in the West that’s burning holes in people’s pockets. But there are several other factors affecting the supply of many goods. The Economist: Yet the shortage economy is also the product of two deeper forces. First, decarbonisation. The switch from coal to renewable energy has left Europe

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made the Democrats an offer they didn’t refuse in order to avoid the problem of the debt limit and throwing things into chaos. He agreed to the deal for a short-term extension. But the issue still has to be resolved by Dec. 3. Some Republicans were mad that he did that, believing that he gave the Democrats an out. But instead of thanking McConnell for at least being gracious under the circumstances, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took a very ugly victory lap, blaming the Republicans for the problem that the Democrats had in fact created and continuing to bash them. “Republicans played

Be careful what you wish for. Back in January it seemed like Democrats’ victories in the Georgia senate runoffs were the cherry on top of then President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral ice cream sundae. Suddenly what had looked in November like a narrow Biden victory and congress split between parties was total Democrat power. Sort of. Once it was realized that Democrats would control a 50/50 senate by dint of Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie breaking vote another thing became instantly clear. That Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., had suddenly become the most important man in Washington. Later we learned that if Manchin was now king,

Pressure to get vaccinated against covid is immense. Liberals demand that non-vaccinated people be denied medical care. In New York, you aren’t supposed to be able to enter a bar or restaurant without a certificate of vaccination. Questioning of the efficacy or desirability of vaccination is banned on social media. And Joe Biden says the fight against covid will be won when 97% or 98% of our population has been vaccinated, an impossible figure. Despite all of the hoopla, it is pretty obvious that the vaccines are not working as well as had been hoped. Originally, it was understood that being vaccinated would prevent you from getting covid.

Democrats are political animals. They don’t give a darn who they run over in their quest for power, even if that includes one of their own. You would have thought that Democrats would have come out strongly in condemning Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) being harassed. While Joe Biden superficially said he didn’t think the tactics were appropriate, he normalized it saying it was “part of the process” and “happens to everybody.” Of course, the activists were acting on behalf of his bill, as well. Democrats were very quiet when it came to any criticism of Sinema’s harassment.

Divorce usually isn’t a good idea, and that’s especially true of a nearly 250-year-old continental nation. The notion of a national breakup has long simmered as a fringe argument, but it is increasingly popular in certain precincts of the political right and has gained at least some traction with partisans of both sides. A recent survey by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia found that about 50 percent of Donald Trump voters and 40 percent of Joe Biden voters agreed to some extent with the proposition that the country should split up, with either red or blue states seceding.
