That doesn’t mean tomorrow, former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb tells CNBC. The CDC hasn’t provided any modeling on the Delta wave yet, which Gottlieb finds odd, but other academic institutions have produced some models — and those suggest that the peak might come as soon as next month: “I think the bottom line is we’re going to see continued growth, at least in the next three to four weeks. There’s going to be a peak sometime probably around late August, early September,” Gottlieb said on “Squawk Box.” “I happen to believe that we’re further into this delta wave than we’re measuring so this may be over sooner than we think.

Former President Donald Trump is more popular with U.S. voters than President Joe Biden, according to a Rasmussen poll released on Friday.
Fifty-one percent of voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Biden compared to 52 percent who have a somewhat favorable opinion of Trump. More people have an unfavorable view of Biden (48 percent) than Trump (46 percent).
However, former President Barrack Obama is more popular with voters than both Biden and Trump. Fifty-five percent of voters view Obama favorably, and only 26 percent have a very unfavorable opinion of him.

A cyber security media outlet called The Record is reporting that the NSA, after an investigation of themselves, say that they weren’t targeting or spying on Tucker Carlson.
Oh, goodie, I’m always comforted when government agencies investigate themselves. Especially given the sketchy statement that they put out when the issue exploded last month. Attorney Harmeet Dhillon went through some of the problems with the statement. What they are admitting, at least according to this report, was that his name came up in a discussion and his name was unmasked when some government official asked for it to be.
Fox was furious at the report.
From The Record:

CBS News captured video of this brief but very bizarre and disturbing exchange between Joe Biden and a reporter.
The reporter asks Biden if any Democrats support defunding the police, after he insisted that none do. Which is an obvious lie, since Democrats did defund police in many cities and many Democrats in Congress continue to support defunding the police. Biden’s response is attracting attention. A savvy pol who had his wits about him would use the opportunity to distance himself from the defund radicals whose policies are contributing to spiking murder rates across the country — actually killing people — and present himself as a sensible moderate

Washington, D.C., police chief Robert J. Contee III slammed what he described as a malfunctioning justice system on Friday morning following a shooting in the crowded 14th street commercial district Thursday night. Gunmen shot two people on the city’s upscale 14th Street, in an incident captured on video. Police have recorded 105 homicides in the city so far this year, while 2020 saw a 16-year high of 198 homicides.
Contee said the Thursday shooting left people “mad as hell” in a Friday press conference. “We could take the political route and talk about all of this fluffy stuff, but I’m going to give it to you straight, where the issues are,”

A town hall put on by CNN featuring President Joe Biden failed to shake up cable ratings on Wednesday night as the left-leaning network sat in the shadows of Fox News and MSNBC for primetime hours.
The town hall, which was moderated by CNN anchor Don Lemon and garnered just a little more than half the amount of the total viewers Fox News had at the same time, finished third in ratings for Wednesday night, falling just behind MSNBC.
According to Deadline, which reported on the latest ratings from Nielsen, CNN’s town hall drew in 1.46 million viewers between 8:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. as Biden spoke

CNN anchor John Avlon was viably stunned and appalled when conservative commentator Mary Katharine Ham criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci for losing Americans’ trust and ripped the media for “fangirling” over the powerful bureaucrat, rather than ask him important tough questions.
After the liberal CNN panelists and coanchors roundly ridiculed Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for questioning Fauci, Avlon turned his intention to Ham, asking her about the “conservative decision to demonize Anthony Fauci.”
“So what’s the game here? What is the purpose of this fixation on attacking Anthony Fauci?” Avlon asked, according to NewsBusters.

Following a day off due to President Biden’s CNN town hall in Ohio, Thursday’s White House press briefing gave us another welcome surprise as Press Secretary Jen Psaki found herself under the gun from not just Fox’s Peter Doocy, but a variety of reporters on issues such as Covid cases inside the administration, Critical Race Theory, Hunter Biden’s artwork, and masking.
Just as her colleague Weijia Jiang called out Hunter’s sketchy arrangement on July 9, CBS chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes hammered home the fact that he’s “going to be able to meet with prospective buyers at two art shows where his paintings are going to be on display”

The spread of the Wuhan coronavirus in the U.S. has accelerated, apparently due mainly to the delta variant. Last month, reported new cases were averaging around 17,000 per day, according to Worldometer. Now, they are averaging around 40,000 per day.
The good news is that deaths attributed to the virus aren’t increasing. A month ago, the daily death count was said to be around 350-400 per day. Now it’s slightly lower — more like 300 per day. Both totals represent a decrease from May, when the daily death count was coming in at more than 600.
What explains the fact that cases have increased, but not deaths?

The curriculum-writing team in a suburban St. Louis school district plotted with a critical race theory advocate on how to keep parents in the dark about their efforts to inject leftwing social justice advocacy into their classrooms, according to a video of their meeting leaked online.
The video, posted on rumble.com in early July, is alleged to be a condensed version of a September 2020 webinar that members of the Francis Howell School District’s curriculum-writing team participated in. The webinar was hosted by their equity consultant, LaGarrett J. King, an associate professor of social studies education at the University of Missouri. He was described on the call as a specialist

On Wednesday night, President Biden was granted the second town hall of his presidency (with the first in February and the third in the last year) by his adoring fanboys and girls at CNN and, not surprisingly, the Jeffrey Zucker-led network made sure that the 80-minute event was little more than a foot-message (or smelling of the hair since that suits his fancy).
Along with an eight-to-three split in Democrat to Republican audience questioners, CNN Tonight host Don Lemon repeatedly inserted himself in trying to help Biden along, press him from the left, and offer only one real challenging moment. The most noteworthy audience question

During his Wednesday night CNN town hall, President Joe Biden talked about a “push to eliminate” 9mm pistols that have an ammunition capacity beyond that of which the left approves.
Biden said, “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things.” Up until now, Biden has pushed “assault weapons” ban legislation and moved executively to have the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) take regulatory action
