If you saved your money and bought a house in the suburbs, your investment and lifestyle are under attack. President Joe Biden is pushing to end single-family zoning. The biggest item in Biden's infrastructure bill, now being negotiated with Congress, is $213 billion he claims will to increase affordable housing. Biden wants to put the federal government in charge of zoning and distribute apartment buildings throughout single-family home neighborhoods.
That $213 billion is nearly twice the spending on roads and bridges. It will change towns everywhere and torpedo the American dream of a house with a patch of lawn.
Biden's plan should be called "hypocrisy housing." Its backers are hypocrites.

How in the name of all that is Holy is it the business of the President of the United States to control zoning laws. That is totally deplorable - It is a basket of deplorables. Impeach him.

Trying to take away even your nice suburban neighborhood, and fill it with halfway houses filed with criminals and drugg addicts, child molesters and other fine folks.
And homes full of 20 illegals, and whoever else wants to do whatever they want.

If the towns take federal money , the feds control the zoning. Do Not take their money and you keep control.

My neighborhood is quite diverse. We have black, white, Mexican, Bosnian and lately quite a few Burmese. All of them have saved, bought their houses and keep them nice (except for the hoarder guy and he at least cuts his grass). I know all of them would oppose this.

What's not to hate about this stand-in at the Oval Office? Even Nixon wasn't hated so badly. (Pauline Kael didn't know anyone who voted for him. They're both dead now.)

Unconstitutional.
The FEDS have no say in zoning laws within in the States unless the land is federally owned.

#9 said exactly what I was going to say. Obama had it on his bucket list, but time ran out.
Everything is Obama policy and his people. Biden really is the puppet!

I live in a suburb. We have a small public housing area in the middle of my suburb. Despite the fact that it's filled with brand new apartment-style units, the area is a filthy ghetto. In another nearby suburb, I read that 90-percent of that city's police calls were to their similarly small public housing complex.

FTA: Biden wants to put the federal government in charge of zoning and distribute apartment buildings throughout single-family home neighborhoods.
This is an attack on middle class Americans, for whom a home is usually their biggest investment. Putting apartments in established neighborhoods where they were never meant to be ensures that those neighborhoods will experience a sharp drop in value, desirability, and livability. Democrat politicians and bureaucrats show a special kind of contempt for America's Middle Class when they set out to destroy...on purpose...the leafy neighborhoods and lawns that most of us have worked and saved for our entire lives.
Imagine what Democrat's multi family housing assault will bring to every retro fitted neighborhood. Hundreds more cars making more trips in and out of the neighborhood, more pollution, huge parking lots, and high rise buildings in place of a once safe and quiet community. The next election cannot come soon enough.

Federal government overreach. Again. Real Estate zoning law should be at the local levels of government. Not at the federal level.

There's a reason nice neighborhoods are nice and people want to move into them. It's because the people who make neighborhoods not nice don't live there.

If the federal government can force localities to override zoning laws, it is not much of a leap for the federal government to use eminent domain power to buy up houses in my upscale neighborhood, tear down those houses, and build 'affordable' apartment buildings.

This dem policy was implemented in the 1970s and entire major metropolitan areas have never recovered. Formerly well maintained and safe cities and suburbs deteriorated. This policy is not wise to try again unless Biden & the dem pols really do want a repeat.
