More than 230 cops have either retired or resigned from the Louisville Metro Police Department in the last 16 months as a spokesperson for its union says that staffing shortages have left the agency in ‘dire straits’ while violent crime rises.
The Kentucky city’s police department has been in turmoil since the March 2020 police-involved shooting of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old black EMT who was fatally shot in her home by officers executing a no-knock search warrant.
According to statistics provided by the LMPD on Tuesday, the department has seen about 190 officers leave last year and 43 depart so far this year.

Why would anyone want to be a cop nowadays? It was always true that if you did your job wrong, you would be hated and disciplined, maybe fired and prosecuted. Now the same is true even if you do it right.
You couldn't pay me enough.

I’m thinking eventually the National Guard will do the job, creating a Marxist utopia of a police state.
How did we get here?

The crazies are winning! There are millions of positive police citizen interactions every day across the country. How many went bad that we have heard about resulting in a citizens death? Activists, media politicians, BLM, Antifa, Democrats. And social media want you think all of them were bad thanks to racist murdering cops. You never hear how many they saved, fights stopped, killings avoided, murders solved, or good the police actually do. The lefts fixation on destroying the police is just an integral part of their reshaping of America. The shape is very broken and jagged right now thanks to the left.

#2 It seems that a police state was the intention all along.

I live in Oldham County, about 15 miles from downtown Louisville. Oldham is considered a 'bedroom county' to Jefferson Louisville Metro. Oldham's also the most consistently conservative county out of KY's 120 counties. The creeps downtown know they're better off keeping their destructive behavior downtown or in West Louisville. If they try any of their foolish crap in my neighborhood they'll get blown away. Country folk don't put up with stuff like BLM or Antifa (think the movie Next of Kin)

The little secret is that once the applicant pool shrinks and the amount of officers needed increase, the qualifications fall. People who should be no where near a badge get hired. This is part of the documented literature.

Remember, Breonna Taylor had drug connections to two boyfriends. She was not the sweet faced EMT you see photos of...like TrayVON Martin and his fifth grade photos. Her Mother has received about $19,000,000 from the city of Louisville through the negotiating power of Benjamin Crump, pimp-lawyer.

This crisis always develops in the wake of a black thug getting what he or she deserves. The blindness to reality is deafening.

Losing one peace officer per week! I think this 'epidemic' is going to spread to every medium/large city. This better get turned around or the Supreme is going to have to REALLY think over the idea of restricting concealed-carry to inside the home.

The experienced officers leave, decent young people do not want the job and cities are then left with the type of person who dislocates an elderly woman's shoulder and laughs about it.

Try to follow the "logic" of what's happening in Louisville - - - -
White police shoot black woman - - therefore - - other blacks start shooting each other.
Who can explain it - - who can tell you why?

Why don't you Communists close the loop and hire the Felons you are letting out of prison...that will show your INSANITY!

This was obviously going to be "the next thing", just like night following day.
I applaud the officers who have bailed out. They are showing good sense. And as to the city of Louisville.....you are reaping what you sowed. No sympathy at all, and glad I live far away.
