Scott Jennings Explains Trump’s Patient
Iran Strategy

Political commentator Scott Jennings gave the Iran debate a much-needed dose of plain English after he received a briefing from a senior Trump administration official. Jennings' central point was simple: President Donald Trump used force when force became necessary, then paused further strikes when diplomacy had a chance to save lives. Trump's critics have spent years calling him reckless, impulsive, and incapable of restraint. Now he's showing patience, and many of those same voices still can't bring themselves to admit what sits in front of them. Trump has said talks with Iran remain active, but he has also warned his team not to rush into a weak agreement.

OK. I'm going to just trust Trump to get this right. He usually does.

"By his humiliating failure to bring Iran to heel, nearly three months after starting a war that he said would last weeks at most". The author, Jackie Calmes, obviously fails to understand that just under 3 months is under 12 WEEKS. The left is so stupid it would be laughable if it was not so dangerous for our country.

In less than a week, the U.S. attorney in Miami supervising the probe of Obama-Biden era government weaponization secured indictments against Cuban communist dictator Raul Castro and an alleged money launderer for Venezuelan strongarm man Nicolas Maduro. But it was Jason Reding Quinones’ indictment against one of his own former federal prosecutors for trying to steal a sealed, classified report from Jack Smith’s investigation of President Donald Trump that may have sent the loudest shockwaves through government.

Everyone’s angry with Donald Trump. It’s true that things are getting ragged with just over five months left until the midterms. The president’s agenda is being stymied in the courts and in Congress by bloody-minded Democrat obstructionism, and by a handful of lily-livered naysayers in his own bare-majority party. His poll numbers are as bad as they’ve ever been, apart from a rough patch in the aftermath of Jan. 6, 2021. The war with Iran has hit gas prices and exacerbated the cost of living. It may be heading to some sort of deal, but cheerleaders are thin on the ground.

We've got a positive update on the story out of Orange County, California, regarding that leaking chemical tank, thankfully: On Saturday, a leaking chemical tank prompted the evacuation of tens of thousands of people in Orange County, California. The evacuated area encompasses parts of six Los Angeles metro area cities, and the incident may well lead to the tank melting down in a thermal runaway. Fortunately it appears that failure, rather than explosion, is the more likely option, although neither is what you would call "good."

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., applauded President Trump for making the Abraham Accords part of Iran negotiations to end war. Trump encouraged more Arab nations to join the Abraham Accords on Sunday, including Iran. "If in fact as a result of these negotiations to end the Iranian conflict, our Arab and Muslim allies in the region agreed to join the Abraham Accords, it would make this agreement one of the most consequential in the history of the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan joining the Abraham Accords would be beyond transformative for the region and world. It is a brilliant move by President Trump." Graham wrote on X.

Iran has reportedly agreed to give up its stockpile of enriched uranium as part of the deal announced by President Trump Saturday. Tehran has agreed to a statement pledging to relinquish its cache of highly enriched uranium — believed to be enough to build 11 nuclear bombs — the New York Times reported, citing two American officials. The disposal of the highly enriched uranium, which Trump refers to as “nuclear dust” was a major sticking point in negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic. In the wake of several close elections and a few Republican upsets, Democratic Party elites are increasingly embracing rhetoric that suggests a growing contempt for the will of the voters and an eagerness to circumvent the democratic process to beat the opposition party. The redistricting wars have resulted in Republicans gaining a modest advantage in the upcoming race for control of the House, and legal setbacks to Democratic countermeasures have resulted in pivotal political leaders voicing their frustrations in increasingly provocative ways.

Journalists working there Saturday reported hearing a series of gunshots and were told to seek shelter inside the press briefing room, where U.S. Secret Service officers prevented them from leaving. There were no immediate reports of any injuries. On X, Secret Service said it was “aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW” — one block from the White House — and was “working to corroborate the information with personnel on the ground.”

Somewhere in Tallahassee, Ron DeSantis is probably grinning ear to ear as Florida Democrats descend into yet another round of intraparty warfare. The fireworks are happening in the Sunshine State’s 20th Congressional District, and it is all thanks to none other than Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former Democrat National Committee chair who managed to make nearly everyone angry, including her own party’s activists. Florida Republicans drew a new congressional map earlier this year under DeSantis’s leadership, leaving most Democrats fuming while conservatives celebrated a fairer representation of the state’s red shift. The GOP already controls twenty of the twenty eight congressional seats, but the updated map could hand them several more.

They believed it was the right thing to do. If the book is ever updated, it's unlikely former President Joe Biden would be included. He recently told his former chief of staff, Ron Klain, that he has made his decision on endorsing a candidate in one of the most pivotal election battles in the nation — the gubernatorial race in the union’s most populous state, California. It seems to me that those who know what’s happening aren’t talking, and news outlets like Axios and Reuters, who can’t possibly have inside information, are. I disregard as unlikely the accounts of terms of any agreement which do not come from official sources. Yes, there are some credible signs that we are reaching a critical juncture in the negotiations: The President abandoned his plans to attend his son’s wedding in Florida to return to the White House. The Vice President made an unscheduled return from Ohio to D.C.

Yet it stays unrecognized, largely because diplomats cling to the fiction of Somalia's territorial integrity — even though that unity exists only on paper. This is not principle at work. It is bureaucratic inertia. It has become a costly strategic error. Denying recognition sends exactly the wrong signal: that building a functioning democracy in hard conditions earns you nothing.

President Donald Trump appears well positioned to break the old guard of Senate Republicans in the growing row over legislative priorities – as key allies of Senate Majority Leader John Thune either retire or possibly lose the primaries. For months, the Senate has faced considerable pressure from Trump and his allies to pass the Save America Act, a marquis voter ID bill, a proposition that Thune and the senior conference leadership have rejected. Thune has also kept Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, whom Trump wants removed because she has not allowed key parts of the president's agenda —
