Cuba's Bad Day Just Got a Whole Lot Worse

"Regime change? Oh no, I think we would would love to see the regime change," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday while testifying before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations when some Democrat tried to ask him a "gotcha" question about Cuba. While Rubio wouldn't own up to it — and I'm not sure that "regime change" is the appropriate phrasing — I think it's pretty obvious that a free Cuba is a goal of the Donald Trump administration. I mean, they wouldn't 'fess up to plans to dethrone Nicolás Maduro either, but we knew that was coming for months, and we watched it happen on January 3.

I watch the exchange between Sec. Rubio and that fool Commucrat. I shook my head thinking, 'Really? You're asking a first generation Cuban-American, whose parents couldn't return home because of the Communists, whether he favors regime change in Cuba?' Rubio handled him like a champ. I'm very impressed with him.

President Donald Trump threatened to decertify Canadian-made aircraft and impose a 50% tariff unless Canada approves Gulfstream jets, accusing Ottawa of illegally blocking certification while allowing its own planes access to the American market. The dispute centers on aircraft certification, a regulatory process that determines whether planes can be sold and operated in a country. Trump has accused Canadian authorities of using that process to restrict U.S.-made Gulfstream jets. "Based on the fact that Canada has wrongfully, illegally, and steadfastly refused to certify the Gulfstream 500, 600, 700, and 800 Jets, one of the greatest, most technologically advanced airplanes ever made, we are hereby decertifying their Bombardier Global Expresses, and all
Iran's Doomsday Clock Is So Close To Midnight,

On Tuesday of this week, atomic scientists readjusted the Doomsday clock to 11:58:35, or 85 seconds to Midnight, the narrowest window pointing to mankind's purported annihilation ever. Now keep in mind, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, which almost was the actual annihilation of humans if Russia and the U.S. started exchanging nuclear warheads, the clock was set to 11:53. It's a silly metric, and wholly unserious when considering the geopolitics of all that's going on, past and present. But if we're looking at the longetivity of the Iranian theocracy that's had a deadly iron grip on Persia for nearly 47 years, all indications are the mullahs' time is just about

The Senate on Thursday evening reached a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security for just two weeks as lawmakers hope to pass a significant spending package in an effort to avoid a partial government shutdown. Lawmakers kicked the rest of the government's annual funding bills over to the House of Representatives. The Senate will not vote on Jan. 29 to advance the deal struck by lawmakers, a Senate aide informed USA TODAY. The chamber will reconvene at 11 a.m. ET on Jan. 30, according to the Senate Press Gallery. Though the agreement reached Thursday doesn't guarantee a partial government shutdown won't still happen, it marked a big step forward

Following weeks of unrest in Minnesota over immigration enforcement in the state, White House border czar Tom Homan announced Thursday that he will begin reducing the number of federal agents in the state once state officials follow through on their pledge to begin cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Homan, who was dispatched to Minnesota after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti over the weekend, acknowledged that ICE and Customs and Border Patrol operations in the state had not been conducted “perfectly” and that changes needed to be made — but he also reserved significant criticism for Minnesota Democrats who have prevented federal agents from collecting the targets of enforcement operations

President Donald Trump’s latest proposed tariff hike on South Korea comes at a particularly fraught moment for U.S.-Korea relations given that Seoul has carried out a whole-of-government campaign against a prominent U.S.-based online retailer in recent months while at the same time pursuing closer ties with China. President Trump said Monday afternoon he will raise tariffs on certain South Korean goods to 25 percent because Korea’s legislature has not passed the trade deal U.S. and Korean negotiators reached over the summer.

One of the survivors of the Hanukkah terror attack on Bondi Beach was given a non-Jewish-sounding pseudonym when she was admitted to the hospital following the attack, local media reported on Tuesday. Staff at the Liverpool Hospital in western Sydney changed the name of Rosalia Shikhverg to the alias “Karen Jones” in the medical records, possibly in order to “disguise” her identity, an investigation by Sky News found. New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park has issued an apology to Shikhverg. Shikhverg was rushed to the hospital on December 14 after sustaining gunshot and shrapnel wounds to the head during the shooting at a Hanukkah party

A Virginia circuit court judge has struck down a General Assembly-approved redistricting amendment, ruling lawmakers overstepped their authority during a 2024 special legislative session and violated constitutional requirements tied to elections and voter notice. In a sweeping ruling issued Tuesday, Tazewell County Circuit Court Judge Jack S. Hurley Jr. invalidated actions taken to advance the proposed constitutional amendment, blocking it from moving forward and barring it from being submitted to voters. The lawsuit focused on whether lawmakers could take up a redistricting-related constitutional amendment during a special session initially convened to address budget matters

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held an all-day hearing Tuesday to finalize its findings on what caused last January's mid-air collision between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and a commercial passenger jet over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport just outside of Washington, D.C. After a nearly year-long investigation into the January 29, 2025 crash, which resulted in the deaths of 67 people, NTSB investigators determined that a number of factors, including the placement of a helicopter route so close to commercial air traffic and Army helicopter training standards, led to the tragic collision.

A federal appeals court on Monday declined to reimpose restrictions on federal agents at protests in Minnesota, refusing the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) plea to do so following this weekend’s fatal shooting. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel sided with the Trump administration, ruling that limits imposed by a judge earlier this month were too broad and vague. “A wrong call could end in contempt, yet there is little in the order that constrains the district court’s power to impose it,” the panel wrote in its unsigned opinion. The ruling lasts until the 8th Circuit resolves the administration’s appeal in normal course, which will be expedited.

WASHINGTON - New orders for key U.S.-manufactured capital goods increased more than expected in November, indicating business spending on equipment maintained a steady growth pace in the fourth quarter. The fifth straight monthly rise in the so-called core capital goods orders, reported by the Commerce Department on Monday, followed on the heels of data last week showing strong consumer spending in October and November, and reinforced economists' expectations the economy extended its robust performance ‌in the last three months of 2025. The strength in business investment in equipment and the overall economy has occurred despite President Donald Trump's sweeping import tariffs, which have depressed a large segment of manufacturing. Hunter Biden says it doesn’t matter that he has “ghosted” his 7-year-old daughter with ex-stripper Lunden Roberts because he never agreed to be a part of her life, according to a stone-hearted new legal filing. The 55-year-old former first son argued Tuesday in new court papers that the contentious Arkansas child support case for daughter Navy Joan Roberts shouldn’t be reopened after he and his baby mama settled in 2023. But Roberts, 34, earlier this month said Hunter should be jailed for failing to uphold his end of the bargain, claiming he’s refusing to talk to Navy and not giving her pieces of his artwork before it dramatically plunged in value

Hillary Clinton took to social media to express support for the rioters in Minneapolis even as the disgraced former candidate and her husband were dodging a congressional subpoena looking into their relationship with family friend and Clinton Foundation co-founder Jeffrey Epstein. After condemning the Trump administration’s push to deport illegal alien criminals from Minneapolis, despite the obstruction of violent leftist rioters who had tried to murder federal law enforcement agents and bit off an agent’s finger, Clinton urged directing funding to the rioters. “In Minnesota, scores of ordinary people are bravely looking out for their neighbors, defending their communities, and protesting lawless violence,” she tweeted. “Here’s how to stand with them.”

If the second Trump term turns out to be like “The Apprentice” without “You’re fired!” its ratings are going to resemble Joe Biden’s. That means needlessly big losses in the coming midterms, and an end to — or even reversal of — President Donald Trump’s agenda. President Biden never accepted blame for the Afghanistan debacle, for economic malaise and record inflation or any of his other disasters, such as the endless waves of illegal migrants waved into the country. But he also never even implicitly admitted his team had failed by axing an obvious author of those debacles —
