Wrong, Colonel, the Concerns Are Yours!

If you grow up in a military family, like I did, you don't just learn the rank structure or how to fold a flag. You grow up with an inherent respect for duty, service, and the rules that govern both. One of the biggest rules? Keep your politics to yourself when you're in uniform. So when the story broke this week about the 821st Space Base Group commander at Pituffik Space Base in Greenland being relieved of duty after a snarky, partisan email targeting U.S. Vice President JD Vance, I wasn’t surprised. I was disgusted. Colonel Susan Meyers, in a wildly inappropriate and insubordinate move, decided to flex her self-righteousness

Comments:

I also grew up in a military family. My father then went on to work for the FAA. He was always very careful about what he said and did to make sure that his political beliefs were nowhere in sight.

She could have been court martialed under Sec 88, 92, 94, and 95 of the UCMJ. Of course, her career is over. She'll most likely end her career and the same rank she is now. The only possible worse place to serve would be Nome, Alaska. Let's hope she's headed there!

There was no luck involved. Someone lacked the backbone to drop her a grade or two, or more. The article does a good job of describing the email. It was all snark. It was boldly published it to everyone; including the Danes. President Trump is battling with the Danes on a matter of vital importance to our national security. She gave them aid and comfort. If it haven't read it , it's worth the effort. I think that VP Vance's speech was one President Trump wanted delivered. She embarrassed our Country, the CINC and the VP on an international platform. There are several punishments available, such as demotion, fired, brig time, loss of benefits. A simple reassignment doesn't fit the crime. It bothers me how the COL acted without fear. Who does she know that she was comfortable in taking this step? I doubt there has ever been a case like this. To see a bird yank the rug out from under the supreme command boggles the mind.

"Colonel Susannah Meyers’ journey into the military began with a strong foundation in education and a passion for leadership. Born in the United States, Meyers grew up in a family that valued discipline and service. Her early years were marked by academic excellence, which paved the way for her admission into a prestigious military academy." (From site that gins up bios on celebrities - best I could find.) Was this woman born under a rock - apparently one "in the United States"? She was admitted to a "military academy" - no word on whether THAT was "in the United States" - also no word on whether she graduated from it. "Her early years were marked by academic excellence" - no word on her "academic excellence" in her later years - I'm thinking questionable. Space Force was formed in 2019. Did she receive a direct commission into the Force or did she transfer in from another uniformed service - like the NOAA Corps? How long has seen been a colonel? In all the articles about her getting fired you would think ONE of those college-educated reporters would show a little curiosity and initiative and give us this Guardian's background.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Congress had to take away the tariff authority from President Donald Trump. Warren said, “It is a mistake to have the President of the United States out there just playing red light, green light and saying, oh, this morning I woke up and think the tariffs should be this big. Now, I think they should be this big; now, I think they should be somewhere else. In a striking contrast to the often secular tone of past administrations, the White House under President Donald Trump is planning an “extraordinary” Holy Week, emphasizing Easter's spiritual and cultural significance. As the nation prepares to mark the holiest days on the Christian calendar, Trump ensures the observance receives the reverence it deserves—offering a clear nod to the values of faith, tradition, and religious liberty that remain central to millions of Americans. “President Trump promised millions of Christians across the country that he would create a White House Faith Office, and he delivered on that promise," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Joining octogenarian Bernie was his new Tanto, New York Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Also on stage were octogenarian Joan Baez and 79-year-old Neil Young. The North Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that over 5,000 overseas ballots must be cured before they can be counted in a move that is likely to overturn the November 2024 election of Democrat Allison Riggs. Riggs was initially "elected" to the state's Supreme Court after the ballots in question were counted despite the identifications of the voters never being verified per state law. While another 60,000+ votes that were also disputed due to incomplete registrations were ruled to be eligible, the group of 5,000+ ballots that now must be cured could prove decisive.

America stands at a pivotal crossroads in energy policy and national security. With oil prices hitting their lowest level in four years and global tensions escalating in the Taiwan Strait, we are staring down a golden opportunity that must not be wasted: refilling our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Let’s be clear about how we got here. Former President Joe Biden drained our emergency oil reserve at a historic pace, cutting the supply in half. The SPR—meant to be our energy insurance policy in times of true crisis—was treated like a political slush fund to bring gas prices down from their historic highs before the 2022 midterms.
