President Trump on Wednesday said he will put a 25% tariff on automobiles imported into the U.S., escalating his administration's use of aggressive trade measures in an effort to boost domestic manufacturers.
After White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the tariffs would be detailed at a 4 p.m. EST by Mr. Trump, Wall Street shuddered, with the S&P 500 tumbling by 1.2% in late afternoon trading. Because tariffs are taxes on imports that are largely passed onto U.S. consumers, they can cause households to cut back on spending and dampen economic growth, according to experts.

The Supreme Court upheld the Biden administration’s regulations on “ghost guns” Wednesday, finding that guns assembled using at-home kits are subject to the same rules as traditional firearms, including requirements that they carry a serial number and that purchasers undergo a federal background check before buying them.
The justices ruled 7-2 in Garland v. VanDerStok to preserve rules imposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in 2022 to combat what the government called an explosion of “ghost gun” usage in criminal activity. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented.

There's been a flurry of executive orders today (Tuesday), some already raising the ire of the Left and so-called watchdog groups who don't want their grifts to go away. Looking at you, Stacey Abrams. This Executive Order, Modernizing Payments To and From America’s Bank Account, appears to be passing under the radar; or maybe everyone is just too weary to care.
Here's the skinny:
Effective September 30, 2025, the federal government will no longer issue paper checks for any disbursements, including Social Security and other benefits, vendor payments, or IRS refunds. All agencies and executive departments must transition to a form of electronic funds transfer to make and receive payments.

A significant movement of US military assets to Diego Garcia has been observed in recent days, suggesting preparations for a major air operation.
The surge in activity follows the largest US military strikes in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office in January, targeting Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
At least five B-2 Spirit stealth bombers and seven C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft have arrived at the remote Indian Ocean base or are en route, according to open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis of military flight tracking data.
The buildup comes as US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on Sunday that Washington will continue

The streets of Houston, Texas, are a little safer today, thanks to Houston's Immigration & Customs Enforcement troops. Why? Thanks to ICE Houston, over 600 illegal alien criminals have been taken off the streets for repatriation.
There are some seriously bad people among them.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents based in Houston continue to arrest and remove violent criminals illegally in the U.S. In several targeted operations, agents arrested more than 600 criminal foreign nationals, including scores who were previously deported multiple times, confirmed gang members, sex offenders and fugitives.
ICE agents recently removed Orbelin Benitez-Carbajal, a criminal

Pres. Donald Trump’s job approval ratings stay above 50 percent, despite (or because of?) constant attacks in the media.
I consume a lot of media in the course of my day job. So, I was mildly surprised to discover how robust the President’s job approval numbers are, so far. Rasmussen Reports still does a daily poll, and today’s figure has Trump at 51 percent approval. In fact, at no point since his second term began in January has Trump’s approval level fallen below 50 percent.
RealClearPolitics’ poll of polls tells the same story, where Trump is about breakeven.
This result stands in sharp contrast to the first Trump term,

Media Research Center data indicates that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s pledge to implement pro-free speech policies across Meta appears to have had an almost immediate impact. “Zuckerberg has put his money where his mouth is,” said MRC Vice President Dan Schneider. “And he’s fulfilling his promises. Meta still needs to do what’s right for all those conservative outlets that it previously censored, but I’m willing to give credit where credit is due.” MRC has seen a substantial boost in traffic to its websites from social media, particularly from Meta-owned Facebook and Instagram.

Amid the fallout from the controversy over officials accidentally sharing military information with a journalist, President Donald Trump is standing by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg published a piece on Monday claiming he had been accidentally included in a group chat with high-profile Trump administration officials. According to the piece, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, State Secretary Marco Rubio, Waltz, and several others discussed plans for an airstrike on the Houthis in Yemen.
Goldberg claimed Waltz added him to the chat without knowing who he was, which has prompted criticism and calls for Waltz to resign.

A senior political adviser to President Trump slapped the Daily Beast with a defamation lawsuit over its reporting on how much he was paid by the campaign.
Chris LaCivita, a manager of Trump’s re-election campaign, claims the Barry Diller-owned tabloid news site created “the false impression” that he was “personally profiting excessively from his work on the campaign and that he was prioritizing personal gain over the campaign’s success,” according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on Monday.
The lawsuit stems from the Daily Beast’s article published on October 15, 2024, with the headline: “Trump In Cash Crisis-As Campaign Chief’s $22m Pay Revealed.”

Computer security is fun if you have a mind to enjoy it. Even regular intelligence and counterintelligence is fun, at least when something interesting is happening. (I've seen lots of highly classified information over the years, and I promise you, most of it is better than Ambien.)
Of course, this week's attempt at hysterical "Trump's people are morons" is based on the "leak" of a Signal chat that included Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic on a chatroom conversation among a bunch of senior administration officials.
It has, of course, caused a lot of consternation among people who would like nothing better

Democrats were in faux outrage mode in the wake of a report by Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic that he was mistakenly included in a chat on Signal with senior Trump administration officials discussing a planned military strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen. Goldberg described the chat as containing “classified” information; however, that is untrue.
So while this wasn’t the scandal that Democrats hoped it would be, the big question that remains is how Goldberg ended up in the chat on Signal in the first place.
According to President Trump, they know that it was a staffer of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

s there no low the left won't stoop to in its terrorist war on Elon Musk's electric car company, Tesla?
They've gone 'the full Palestinian' in the latest incident -- targeting a handicapped woman's Tesla car for vandalism, leaving her with high costs for repairs. Here is the apparent perpetrator, in all his glory: What comes to mind with this Wichita attack is how filthy terrorists from the PLO in the 1980s once targeted poor elderly Leon Klinghoffer on a Mediterranean cruise ship in 1985 at least in part because he was handicapped in a wheelchair
