Schumer Blinks (AOC Upset)

I think we all knew this was coming. As Ed pointed out a few hours ago, Schumer had already signaled he was caving by lunchtime today. So this afternoon he made it official in another speech. "Republican rejection leads us to a decision, and it's not really a decision it's a Hobson's choice," Schumer said. He continued, "Either proceed with the bill before us or risk Donald Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown. This is my view is no choice at all. "While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."

What is so funny about this is that dems, en masse, have learned NOTHING from their election smackdown. Dems, for quite a while now, have been all hat and no cattle. They bluster and pontificate but have nothing to back it up. They counted on their allies in the media and bureaucracy to carry their bluff across the goal line. That ALL failed in the election and further, it was a PERMANENT collapse of the media and bureaucracy and without that cover the dems are lying naked in the desert. YET, they are still trying to bluster and bully. Then, they faceplant with much angst and embarrassment and more permanent damage to their brand. WHY do they keep doing this? Because it worked in the past and it's all they know. They don't have any real skills as should have been obvious from the Biden debacle. They no longer know how to govern. They try to stage manage governance but eventually their lack of results becomes damning, especially in the face of Trump's ability to get things done. What does this mean? The dem party, for all intents and purposes is the walking dead. They shuffle around looking gross and scary, dropping body parts as they shamble along. They are still a bit dangerous but we have Trumptinite which is deadly to them. It's now just a matter of time.

The democrats already look like rats in a maze that has no exit. What's one more little embarrassment? Schumer and the Gentleman from Kentucky need to think about hanging up their jockstraps and moving on to the pasture or the glue factory.

Those who are still convinced that the majority would blame Republicans for the Schumer Shutdown are suffering from delusions that can’t be fixed on a therapists’s couch. Kind of like AOC announcing what ‘the country’ does or doesn’t want as if she has a clue.

I think Schumer is beginning to " see the light". Too much old video of him saying shutdowns are bad, they are to be avoided. All the conventional Democrat pushbacks seem to be failing. For now he will give President Trump " some line", praying he will hang himself with it. I suspect internal polling shows the American public wants a leader that can act, versus one that is a burned out hulk. Time. to go along to get along...

Schumer knows now who was going to get the blame for a shutdown. The media could no longer convince the American public that this wasn't a democrat shutdown. He saw which way the wind blew.

Fact check: True. Only I'm not sure whether Van Jones knows how true this is -- and why. Let me start out by stipulating that Jones usually offers some real insights in his analyses, and cuts against the Left when he sees them erring. In this case, though, Jones accurately assesses the anger on the Left toward both Chuck Schumer and Donald Trump, but misses the larger reality around it (via Twitchy): ERIN BURNETT: Van, how angry are Democrats at Leader Schumer? VAN JONES, CNN SENIOR POLITICAL COMMENTATOR: I've never seen this level of volcanic anger at a Democrat ever. BURNETT: Ever? JONES: Ever. BURNETT: Wow. JONES: We could be grumpy.

It's always good to see bad terrorists being turned into good terrorists. The latest goblin to have his birth certificate permanently revoked was one Abdallah Maki Mosleh al-Rifai, the leader of ISIS in Iraq and Syria. On Friday, the Iraqi government announced al-Rifai was taken out in an airstrike. The world is now a slightly better place. The head of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has been killed in Iraq in an operation by members of the Iraqi national intelligence service along with U.S.-led coalition forces, the Iraqi prime minister announced Friday. “The Iraqis continue their impressive victories over the forces of darkness and terrorism,”

An appeals court on Friday lifted a block on President Donald Trump's executive orders ending federal support for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. A panel of three judges ruled the orders can be enforced during a pending lawsuit, reversing a nationwide injunction from U.S. District Judge Adam Abelson in Baltimore, the Associated Press reported. Two of the judges on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the orders "could raise concerns" about First Amendment rights, but found Abelson's "sweeping block went too far," according to the report.

The only reason that everyone isn't talking about what a terrible week Gavin Newsom is having is that people are too busy talking about what a terrible week Chuck Schumer is having. That is the textbook definition of terrorism, and it appears to be organized. That's dark enough, but things could be worse than that. Add to the swattings the attempted take over of Trump Tower, and in February, an aborted take over the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, the organized Tesla dealership attacks, and the strange and frightening attacks

For most of the past five years, a whole lot of otherwise seemingly intelligent people insisted Covid-19 was just a really unlucky naturally occurring bat virus that just happened to mutate in a way that made it nearly ideal for infecting human beings, and it coincidentally popped up down the road from an institution that was doing gain-of-function research on coronaviruses found in horseshoe bats in a lab that wasn’t up to the international standards for doing that kind of research. Tactically, Sen. Schumer is right: Being (justifiably) blamed for a government shutdown wouldn’t help his party. And Democratic strategists like James Carville are also right: There’s nothing to be gained by “winning” the news cycle in the middle of March in an odd-numbered year. It’s smarter to play dead, give the opposition just enough rope to hang themselves, and rejoin the game a few months later to “save the day.” It's like the old saying goes: We can’t miss ya if ya never go away. As a long-term PR strategy, the Democrats would love to create the impression that they really, truly tried to cooperate with President Trump

Richardson was convicted in 2001 for strangling his then-wife’s 11-month-old daughter to death. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed the lawsuit against the Indiana Department of Corrections seeking a sex change on behalf of Richardson in 2023, three years after the baby-killer decided to begin identifying as a woman. Currently, there is a law in Indiana banning taxpayer-funded sex change procedures for inmates.
