There’s almost nothing worse than getting dumped. You’ve done everything right. You had all the money in the world — a billion dollars! You had all the celebrities — Harrison Ford, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Barbra Streisand! Who could ask for anything more? Well, it turns out 76 million people. This wasn’t just a “don’t call me, I’ll call you” or “we can still be friends” or “maybe someday in the future we could…” No, this was a “get lost, lose my number, forget you ever knew me” kind of break-up. The Democrats aren’t handling it well, to put it mildly.

The only thing missing is how 9/11 kidnapped the Republican Party and put us in the business of exporting democracy, to our detriment.

GOP cries foul on Dem border spending

Senate Republicans slammed their Democrat counterparts in the chamber for moving forward with a "partisan" Homeland Security appropriations bill that they say has "substantial flaws" and will leave the incoming Trump administration without the resources they need to fix the border crisis. Senate Committee on Appropriations ranking member Susan Collins, R-Maine, said in a statement that Democrats' leadership has led to a "unilateral decision from the Majority to post a partisan measure on a critical appropriations bill that is meant to help secure our borders and combat the surge of deadly fentanyl and other illegal narcotics flooding our communities."

While the nomination of Pete Hegseth stunned me at first, upon further reflection its genius became clear. Donald Trump isn’t bringing Pete Hegseth, a decorated Infantry major and longtime Fox host, into the Pentagon to don the green eye shades and closely manage every element of the military behemoth like a reborn Robert McNamara. Trump hired Hegseth to channel George Patton and apply a jump boot to the buttocks of our deadweight military along with an injection of combat arms leadership and attitude.

When Kamala Harris finally conceded after Donald Trump’s decisive victory, she defiantly proclaimed “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign…That is a fight I will never give up.” What is she talking about? Harris’ campaign focused on only two topics: Donald Trump is an unhinged, unstable dangerous fascist, and unfettered abortion is good. She was fluent about, and committed to these concerns. But, what else was fueling the fight?

Trump was elected in part on promises to avoid “endless wars” of the sort that cost American blood and treasure in Afghanistan and Iraq but without resulting in strategic advantage or civilized calm.Yet as a Jacksonian, Trump also restored American deterrence through punitive strikes against ISIS and terrorist thugs like Baghdadi and Soleimani—without being bogged down in costly follow-ups. During the last four administrations, Putin stayed within his borders only during the Trump four years.

The 2024 presidential election was not simply a contest of personalities or parties; it was a decisive stand taken by Americans against a set of ideologies and social constructs that have increasingly dominated the national conversation. This wasn’t just about whether Kamala Harris or Donald Trump won or lost. It was about a clear rejection of divisive, impractical, and sometimes destructive ideas that have reshaped the fabric of our society in ways that feel fundamentally out of step with the values of the vast majority.

On this very terrain, four years ago, I asserted that we can “never again” allow an election like 2020 to happen. I’m back to say that despite Trump’s near landslide, America’s election system is still broken. And the time to fix it is immediately, while President Trump has the wind at his back with a Republican Congress and the public on his side. You most clearly see a broken election system when the margins are extremely tight. We saw it in 2020 when approximately 40,000 votes in key states tipped the election, and not so much in 2024. But rest assured, the public still lacks confidence in the integrity of our elections

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly spoke on the phone for around an hour on Friday, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in Berlin. Scholz was said to have urged Putin to enter negotiations for a "just and lasting" peace with Ukraine. The spokesman also said Scholz had spoken with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy beforehand, and that the chancellor had reiterated Germany would support Ukraine for as long as necessary.

Since Election Day, the Trump transition has been copying and pasting the same quote again and again into emails to reporters seeking comment on this or that presidential appointment. “President-Elect Trump will begin making decisions on who will serve in his second Administration soon,” Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt always writes without fail. “Those decisions will be announced when they are made.” The boilerplate delivers an obvious truth that many in Washington, D.C., find uncomfortable or, in some cases, unimaginable: The president-elect alone, not his senior staff, and certainly not any outside organization, is calling the shots.

The House Ethics Committee postponed its plans to vote Friday on whether to release its report on Matt Gaetz despite mounting calls to publicize it after Donald Trump nominated the former Florida Congressman as his attorney general. The meeting, which had been scheduled before Gaetz resigned from the House on Wednesday, was postponed, Committee Chair Michael Guest told Politico on Friday, putting to rest rumors that the meeting had been abruptly canceled. It’s not immediately clear when the meeting will be held.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson hasn’t even been sworn into office as Washington’s next governor, and yet his tenure will already start in scandal. A chief critic said Bob Scales, CEO of Police Strategies LLC, filed a $42 million tort claim against Ferguson and Washington State University (WSU) in July for alleged racketeering. He accused the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of “managing a corrupt public procurement process that violated virtually every state procurement law and regulation on the books.” Now, Scales said it appears Ferguson is unethically partnering with lawyers loyal to him to defend his office in that case.

Until the Daily Wire uncovered concrete evidence that the Federal Emergency Management Administration was telling relief workers to avoid Trump-supporting homes, the press was happy to take FEMA’s word and debunk accusations of political favoritism. Now that the FEMA employee at the center of the current scandal is saying that she’s a scapegoat and that the problem is far deeper and wider, will the mainstream press ignore this too? In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, FEMA came under attack for its seemingly sluggish response to devastation in heavily Republican areas of the Southeast.

It’s high time to shatter the myth of Nancy Pelosi as a master strategist. Nobody deserves more blame than the ridiculously self-titled “speaker emerita” for the Democrats’ $1 billion electoral collapse. Under her ruthless leadership, her party lost the White House, the House, the Senate and the popular vote. You can’t say that enough. Voters rejected the Dems coast to coast, even in Pelosi’s deepest-blue home city of San Francisco, which saw a 7-point swing to Donald Trump. She’s the only speaker in history to have lost control of the House twice. She’s finished.

President Biden has reportedly given Ukraine permission to deploy US-supplied longe-range missiles to attack targets in Russian territory just weeks before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. Ukraine said it plans to take advantage of the policy change within days. The dramatic shift in policy comes as Ukraine has faced setbacks on the battlefield and after months of requests by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to allow Ukraine’s military to use US weapons to hit Russian military targets far from its border. Trump had pledged that he will end the war once he takes office in January. “As President Trump has said on the campaign trail, he is the only person who

Biden had not consulted with his former boss either on his decision to drop out nor on his decision to endorse Harris. At 12:46 p.m. EDT, Biden posted on X his intention to withdraw.

PITTSBURGH and BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Democratic county officials admit they are breaking the law to overturn Pennsylvania’s Senate election for losing Sen. Bob Casey. “I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” said Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia, who voted Thursday to count deficient provisional ballots a Pennsylvania Supreme Court order barred, in which voters did not sign in one of two necessary boxes. “People violate laws any time they want,” Ellis-Marseglia said. “So for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention. The easing of restrictions would allow Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia.
