OAKMONT, Pennsylvania -- Four years ago, Douglas Hohman turned old enough to vote. He had turned 18 years old in May, yet, for a number of reasons, he never got around to voting for either President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump. The year 2020, Hohman explained, was not the best for him. "It was my senior year when COVID hit, and I missed out on so many things I had been looking forward to: my senior prom on the Gateway Clipper, the senior walk parents do with their parents at Penn Hill High School football field at graduation, and just overall sense of belonging," Hohman said.

Welcome to the right side, young man. And once again, Selena Zito proves why she is one of the finest writers we have. If only there were more journalists with her gift of narrative.

Colorado Democrat Blames Republican Minority

Democrats have complete control of the state government in Colorado. The last Republican governor left office in 2007. The last time Republicans controlled one of the legislature's two chambers was 2019, and Democrats currently hold a supermajority in both the House and the Senate. Over the past decade, Democrats have enacted a number of new gun control laws, including "universal" background checks, a ban on "large capacity" magazines, and a "red flag" law, as well as repealing firearms preemption and allowing localities to pass their own measures more restrictive than state law. So how's that working out for the state?

“When somebody does a bad job, I fire them,” said former President Donald Trump during his recent debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. On the other hand, “They never fired one person. They didn't fire anybody having to do with Afghanistan,” Trump said, referring to the Biden-Harris administration. “Look at the economy. Look at the inflation. They didn't fire any of their economists. They have the same people.” Although Trump’s comment about the Biden-Harris administration’s propensity to not fire incompetent officials who have screwed up royally over the past four years did not garner the attention it rightfully deserves, it certainly struck a chord with me and many more Americans.

The August report includes data after the Department of Homeland Security resumed processing new Advance Travel Authorizations (ATAs) in the parole process for the CHNV program.

Ahead of the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, many influential actors, journalists, and influencers warned that Trump is an “existential threat” to democracy, compared him to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, and suggested he or his supporters should face violent attacks. Some continued attacking Trump even after the first assassination attempt July 13. The New Tolerance Campaign, a nonprofit watchdog aimed at confronting “intolerance double standards” practiced by “establishment institutions, civil rights groups, universities, and socially conscious brands,” compiled a list of extreme rhetoric against Trump that may have contributed to the second assassination attempt.

To tell the truth, I don't know a whole lot about Jeremey Kauffman, who is listed as “an American entrepreneur and political activist known for founding and leading the blockchain-based filesharing project LBRY. Kauffman is also known as a vocal supporter and activist within the Free State Project (FSP) and a former board member. “ Has he made some statements on Twitter that have upset the always-triggered class? A search would seem to indicate so, with some calling him a pedophile, although my reading of that interaction leads me to believe that he was just being outlandish in his comments.

Three Jewish organizations have issued a travel warning and are calling for an economic boycott of Middlesex County, Massachusetts after a pro-Israel demonstrator was charged with assault and battery after shooting a man who attacked him during a rally last week. Betar USA, Magen Herut Canada, and Shields of David say until all charges are dropped against Scott Hayes, Americans should stay away from the county in the Boston suburbs, including the town of Newton where the attack took place.

The remarkable thing about Russell Rickford is that there is nothing extraordinary about him. The Cornell University prof gained notoriety in the immediate aftermath of Oct. 7 by declaring that he found the terror attack “exhilarating.” He wasn’t specific about what was more exciting to him — the slaughter of hundreds of people at a music festival, including wounded people at point-blank range, the mass hostage-taking, the burning of people alive or the horrific sexual violence. For the committed anti-Zionist, there must be so many thrilling moments to choose from. Afterward, Rickford apologized for his “horrible choice of words.”

A judge denied Robert F. Kennedy’s request Monday to erase his name from the presidential ballot in swing state Wisconsin, ruling that state law requires candidates to remain on the ballot unless they die. Dane County Circuit Judge Stephen Ehlke’s decision marks the latest twist in Kennedy’s push to remove himself from ballots in key battleground states where the race between Republican Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is tight. Kennedy suspended his campaign in August and endorsed Trump.

Trump was on the course, I believe we all need pause to appreciate the immense courage Trump displays daily on the campaign trail. This is what President Trump put out immediately after the incident: “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL! In a doubleheader that turned heads across the Beltway, Google attorney Karen Dunn last Tuesday delivered an opening defense in Virginia federal court against the Biden-Harris Justice Department’s lawsuit targeting its digital ad business – and then reportedly raced out of the courtroom to assist Harris that same afternoon with final preparations to take on Trump in Philadelphia.

Israel is suspected of remotely detonating thousands of walkie-talkie radios and other devices in a second wave of attacks targeting Hezbollah. At least three people were killed in the east of Lebanon and more than 100 were wounded in the new explosions in southern Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, on Wednesday, Lebanon’s health ministry said. Witnesses and Hezbollah officials said the explosions were as a result of the group’s walkie-talkies as well as motorbike radios and security locks blowing up across Lebanon. Sources told Lebanese news outlet L’Orient Today that devices were detonated inside cars, residential apartments and shops.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe and Namibia have announced plans to slaughter hundreds of wild elephants and other animals to feed hunger-stricken residents amid severe drought conditions in the southern African countries. Zimbabwe said Monday it would allow the killing of 200 elephants so that their meat can be distributed among needy communities, while in Namibia the killing of more than 700 wild animals — including 83 elephants — is under way as part of a plan announced three weeks ago. Tinashe Farawo, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, said permits would be issued in needy communities to hunt elephants

Hillary Clinton forcefully argued that Vice President Kamala Harris didn't need to clarify her policy positions in interviews and said that the 2024 Democratic candidate was facing a "double standard" from voters and the media. "She does not have to do it, Kara. I'm going to just cut to the chase," Clinton told journalist and podcast host Kara Swisher on the "On with Kara Swisher" podcast this week. "In fact, she's put out policies on her campaign website. Anybody who's truly interested can go and read about them. She referenced policies. She actually doesn't just have policies and concepts. She has plans about what to do," Clinton said,

Gas powered stoves in California could now come with a health warning label similar to what you'd find on a pack of cigarettes or other tobacco products, according to a new proposed law in the state. California lawmakers passed a bill at the end of August that would make it illegal to sell a gas stove that is manufactured or sold online on or after Jan. 1, 2025, or sold in a store, "unless the gas stove bears an adhesive label attached in a conspicuous location," according to the text of the bill. Gov. Gavin Newsom has until the end of September to sign the bill into law.

Much of the noise coming from the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris last week had to do with a media-driven narrative that Harris “won.” Maybe so. In initial polls after the debate, Harris padded her lead. But will the debate win be enough for the Democrats’ own rank-and-file voters, who believe the party used an undemocratic method to select its nominee? September’s I&I/TIPP Poll suggests the answer is yes. Start with the fact that the Real Clear Politics polling average puts Harris up just 1.7 percentage points nationally, and a sliver-thin 0.2 percentage points in key battleground states.

BEIRUT - Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon's south and in Beirut's southern suburbs, a security source and a witness said, further stoking tensions with Israel a day after similar explosions launched via the group's pagers. Three people were killed in Lebanon's Bekaa region, the state news agency reported, and dozens of people were wounded in the latest device blast. At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country and wounded many of the group's fighters.
