The Russian Digital Communications Ministry bragged on Friday that the worldwide information technology (IT) outage did not affect Russian airlines and banks, thanks to Russia’s countermeasures against Western sanctions. “At the moment, the ministry has not received reports of system failures at Russian airports,” the ministry claimed. “The situation with Microsoft once again shows the importance of import substitution of foreign software, primarily at critical information infrastructure facilities,” the ministry statement asserted.

Or Russia avoided the Microsoft crash because it caused it in the first place.

If they did have a hand in it, I'd say that'd be their "Here's one for the Nordstrom Pipeline, that you guys totally didn't have anything to do with".

Top officials at the U.S. Secret Service repeatedly denied requests for additional resources and personnel sought by Donald Trump’s security detail in the two years leading up to his attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday, according to four people familiar with the requests. Agents charged with protecting the former president requested magnetometers and more agents to screen attendees at sporting events and other large public gatherings Trump attended, as well as additional snipers and specialty teams at other outdoor events, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive security discussions.

The man who entered the United States illegally and then became a TikTok sensation for telling migrants to break into and squat American homes is believed to have been a member of a Venezuelan military intelligence unit, according to a new report. The 27-year-old “influencer,” Leonel Moreno, was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in March after posting a series of videos advising illegals to squat in U.S. homes and taunting Americans about Joe Biden’s rampant flood of illegal immigrants.

On Friday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced that he would vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming election, and gave the Republican presidential nominee his endorsement. This decision is a stunning reversal from the Republican governor's previous statement, in which he said last week that he would not vote for Trump and write someone in instead. Gov. Cox told reporters that the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania resulted in a "sobering moment" for him that prompted a weekend reflection. He said it was a miracle that the former president survived and will vote for him in November,

For the first time, researchers have voted to eliminate scientific names of organisms because they are offensive. Botanists decided that more than 200 plants, fungi and algae species names should no longer contain a racial slur related to the word caffra, which is used against Black people and others mostly in southern Africa. The changes voted on today at the International Botanical Congress in Madrid mean that plants such as the coast coral tree will, from 2026, be formally called Erythrina affra, instead of Erythrina caffra. (snip) The measure passed in a tense secret ballot, with 351 votes in favour against 205 opposed.

Democratic strategist James Carville on Thursday criticized the belief of some of former President Donald Trump’s backers that “God is protecting him” after surviving an assassination attempt on Saturday. Trump survived the attempt on his life at his Pennsylvania rally after a bullet grazed his head, with some of the former president’s backers now believing that he is being protected by God, according to The New York Times. Carville on “Politics War Room” said he thinks this belief is “horseshit” and “a perversion,” adding that their religious perspective will lead to Trump destroying his enemies if reelected.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has reportedly told allies that he will resign from Congress since he was convicted on all counts in his federal corruption trial. An NBC News report said that the New Jersey Democrat, who has, so far, been defiant and refused to resign in the face of demands from dozens of Senate Democrats, has said that he will soon step down. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) have called on the New Jersey Democrat to resign.

A group in New Delhi known as Hindu Sena (“Hindu Army”) prayed for the safety of U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday, describing him as the only “global leader” who “has the courage to speak against radical Islam and its followers.” Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, so Hindu Sena hung a poster of Trump next to an idol of Baglamukhi — the Hindu goddess of protection — dabbed a vermilion holy mark on Trump’s forehead, and made burnt offerings to pray for the former — and possibly future — president’s life.

After seeing the comment, Walters announced on X that the state was performing an investigation on Scott, calling it “unacceptable.”

President Biden made the historically rare decision Sunday to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, less than four months after being declared the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and days after a dismal debate showing. The 81-year-old president’s exit from the race – months before Election Day – comes after a debate performance against former President Donald Trump in which the incumbent appeared infirm and was at times incoherent – alarming Democratic donors and strategists. Biden’s withdrawal is expected to set off a free-for-all for the Democratic nomination for president.

Former President Barack Obama didn’t endorse Kamala Harris — saying Democrats would pick an unnamed “outstanding nominee” in his first statement on President Biden stepping aside from the party’s ticket. “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead,” said Obama, 62. “But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.” Some Democrats fear that Harris, the 59-year-old vice president, could further diminish the party’s chances against former President Donald Trump, 78, in the Nov. 5 election.

I’ve argued previously that former first lady and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would like one more bite at the apple, and as Biden’s reelection candidacy implodes, her name has popped up once again. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s taken this long. The Hill opinion contributor Pablo O’Hana thinks Rodham Clinton is just the woman who can save the president’s chances: “But who?” "The strongest argument against replacing President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee is the notion that no suitable successor exists. But there is, and not just a good one but one of the most qualified people ever to run for the office: Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The Treasury Department is warning that state laws that restrict banks from considering environmental, social and governance factors could harm efforts to address money laundering and terrorism financing. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the letter sent Thursday to lawmakers. The letter singled out a law signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in May that says it would be an “unsafe and unsound practice” for banks to consider non-financial factors when doing business. The letter concludes that “such laws create uncertainty and may inhibit” national security efforts. Conservative Republicans such as DeSantis have sought to block environmental and socially conscious standards for investing,

Can you think of anyone worse than President Joe Biden to run the White House? I can— and that’s twice-failed presidential Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton. An op-ed published by “The Hill” argued that America is desperately “ready for round two” of a Clinton ticket. An Obama judge has tossed out a lawsuit by the GOP to ban mail-in ballots in Nevada received up to four days after election day. In her 15-page ruling, Du said there was no evidence that the plaintiffs “have suffered, or will likely suffer, an injury” from the rules, which allow Democrats and corrupt election officials to “find” the required number of votes to steal elections in which

Harris quickly emerged as the front-runner to replace Biden as the Democratic Party’s standard bearer but has not dropped any major hints about whom she’d like to have as a running mate. Given the rushed circumstances of the decision, she will have very little time to vet them and ensure that they’d work well together. (Snip) Here are 10 people she could choose from:

For now, I’m taking at face value that Biden has withdrawn from the presidential campaign via a tweeted-out letter, with the promise of a live statement to follow. However, a surprising number of people believe that, considering how consequential Biden’s statement is, a tweeted-out letter suggests a coup rather than a voluntary resignation. More than anything, this reveals how the Biden administration has destroyed all trust in the government. To catch you up on things, Biden put out two separate tweets. The first, at 1:46 p.m. Eastern Time, announced his resignation:
