Bryan Gillis - the Louisville Police Detective who arrested Scottie Scheffler at Valhalla earlier this month - has fumed over his 'honesty and integrity' coming into question after all charges against the World No 1 golfer were dropped on Wednesday.
Scheffler had faced four charges, including second-degree assault of a police officer, following the dramatic events of May 17; when he was arrested and led away in handcuffs after arriving for the second round of the PGA Championship.
The 27-year-old was accused of speeding away in his car when told to pull over by officers - and dragging Gillis to the ground in the process - before he was arrested

He didn't turn on his camera and the surveillance camera and the dash cam showed he was lying.
"Honesty and integrity", hah, he doesn't have any.

Methinks Scheffler is damn lucky the officer failed to turn on his camera.

Bryan Gillis has no credibility. Scottie Scheffler has a flawless reputation.

The article didn't mention:
The police officer who put world No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler in handcuffs has a lengthy disciplinary record that includes multiple suspensions, employment records revealed Thursday.
Gillis was suspended for five days for "conduct unbecoming" for driving "an intoxicated civilian in your police vehicle" and "proceeding to doing 'donuts' in a business parking lot," according to a Sept. 18, 2013, memo by then-Chief Steve Conrad.
He was also disciplined for pursuing "a vehicle that did not commit a violent felony or wanted on a warrant," according to a June 9, 2021, memo by then-Chief Erika Shields.
Gillis was found "at fault" for accidents on May 22, 2021, and Aug. 6, 2019, that led to oral reprimands.
Gillis was also found to be "at fault" for a Dec. 1, 2013, accident that led to an oral reprimand and mandatory driver's training.
The officer was hit with one-day suspensions in both 2010 and 2011 for failing to show up to court. That was followed by a four-day ban in 2012 for continuing to miss court appearances, documents showed.

It sounds like Gillis wanted to throw his weight around. Arresting and handcuffing Scheffler was absurd. And no one cares about your $80 pants.

This will blow over and be old news in 1-2 days. But my money is that Scottie will NOT sue LPD, and will, instead, let the matter drop. He has that kind of personal character.
(Just a guess)

Isn't Detective a step up from patrol Officer? How does he maintain his Detective status witht hat record, and what was a Detective doing directing traffic?

Detective Dobie couldn't help himself. He had to make excuses for his actions. His BWC was conveniently off so his remarks to Scottie could not be heard. Just like his actions at Vahalla, in his statement he jumped in like a vocal, uncontrolled Robocop. His actions at Vahalla spoke louder than his Scottie message. Dobie is a typical LMPD Leo, untrustworthy.

In my observation, over many decades of living (and practicing law) there are about 6 different types of people who go into law enforcement. This guy would probably be a 5 - the guy who was always picked on in school and now has a badge to show all those uppity people that HE is one they'd better respect (Barney Fife type) or maybe 4 - a bully in school and now he has a badge to make it legal. Both types are insufferable jerks.

I normally "back the blue" in almost all cases. I did have an unpleasant encounter many years ago with a 'bully with a badge'. There are some guys who shouldn't be cops and it sounds like the guy who arrested Scottie needs a different career. Then again, I wasn't there to judge.

People are less likely to believe a cop after they find he didn't turn on the body cam.

How STUPID does one have to be to try and stop a moving vehicle by grabbing it with one's hands? The dirtbag lowlife Cop has no one to blame but himself for the loss of his Eighty Dollar Pants. As on now, no one, I mean zero people have any respect for the Louisville PD!

I support LawEnforcement. The 'Detective' is lucky to still have a job. Andthe City of Louisville narrowly escaped a very expensive settlement! Scottie had a shot at a Major here, and I would suggest the experience negatively effected his performance!

Yea Gillis was 'dragged to the ground', just 2 seconds before he was running after the car. Time to put this BAD COP in the SLAMMER!
