Harvard is reversing its test-optional policy, the university announced Thursday, making standardized testing once again a requirement of admission.
Students applying to Harvard College for fall 2025 must submit either SAT or ACT scores, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences said. There are exceptions for certain circumstances when applicants cannot access SAT or ACT testing, in which case alternative tests such as AP and IB exam results may be accepted.
“Standardized tests are a means for all students, regardless of their background and life experience, to provide information that is predictive of success in college and beyond,” Edgerley Family Dean of the Faculty

Arizona’s Democrat Attorney General says she will not enforce an 1864 law that was upheld by the state Supreme Court on Tuesday banning nearly all abortions.
“The decision made by the Arizona Supreme Court today is unconscionable and an affront to freedom. Make no mistake, by effectively striking down a law passed this century and replacing it with one from 160 years ago, the Court has risked the health and lives of Arizonans,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (pictured above) said in a statement. “The Arizona Court of Appeals decision, which the Supreme Court has struck down [on Tuesday], was well reasoned and aligned with how courts harmonize different legislation.”

MADISON, Wisconsin — Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley announced Thursday that she will not seek another term, setting up a high-stakes fight for control of the battleground state’s highest court.
Bradley, who is part of the court’s 4-3 liberal majority, said she felt confident she could win a fourth 10-year term but that it was time to “pass the torch.” Her term will end July 31, 2025. The election for the open seat will be held next April. Brad Schimel, the former Republican attorney general, announced in November that he plans to run.

Idaho Governor Brad Little signed House Bill 538 on Monday. This means that Idaho school districts will soon have to remove any requirements that teachers use the preferred pronouns of transgender students.
The legislation enacts protections for public employees, including teachers, who are unwilling to use someone's preferred name and pronouns. Idaho Statehouse Republicans overwhelmingly supported it.
Teachers will no longer be allowed to refer to a student by a name or pronoun that doesn't match their birth sex unless the teacher has parental consent. Teachers have the right to sue their school district if they are disciplined for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred name or pronoun.

Joe Biden's former Chief of Staff and one of his longest-running confidants was caught on a leaked recording ranting against the president's current communications strategy. It represented the latest sign that Democrats are panicking over the prospect of Donald Trump emerging victorious after November's election.
Ronald Klain, who served as Chief of Staff for both Biden's vice presidency and presidency, was unknowingly recorded at a private event in which he launched into an obscenity-filled critique of the current president. Specifically, he claimed that Biden was too focused on mundane "accomplishments" and not on what Americans actually care about.

The mainstream media, activists, commentators, politicians, and even the president have cited the Gaza Health Ministry's bogus casualty numbers countless times.
Any sane person would have figured out by now that using a Hamas front as a source for casualty numbers is simple malpractice, but then again accuracy has never been the point when reporting on the war in Gaza.
Well, the Gaza Health Ministry was just backed into a corner, and they have admitted that they may, perhaps, not have the data to back up all those scary numbers they have been pushing out. Their numbers aren't off by a tad, a titch, a bit, or a few.

Democrats are teeing up a ballot measure in Arizona that would practically ensure abortion until the moment of birth, after the Arizona Supreme Court held that a new state law regulating abortion after 15 weeks did not repeal an 1864 law that allowed abortion only to save the life of the mother.
In March 2022, lawmakers in Arizona adopted S.B. 1164, now referred to in the state’s law books as § 36-2322. A child in the womb can feel pain by 15 weeks, and unborn children can also be seen via ultrasound sucking their thumbs and waving their hands. The new statute would allow abortions after 15

Even some Senate Democrats are rejecting parts of Joe Biden's radical environmental agenda.
The Senate passed a resolution on Wednesday voting down an important aspect of the Biden administration's efforts to force the transition to electric vehicles (EVs).
In a 53-47 vote, Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Sherrod Brown of Ohio, and Jon Tester of Montana joined Republicans in blocking a rule aimed at reducing the number of gas-powered cars on America’s roads. Independent Sen. Krysten Sinema also supported the measure. Politico reported:
The regulation from the Federal Highway Administration, Reg. 2125-AF99, required state transportation planners to calculate greenhouse gas emissions

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) said Wednesday on CNN’s “King Charles” that former President Donald Trump has “created chaos and suffering in our country that is unimaginable” with his Supreme Court picks who overturned Roe v. Wade.
Booker said, “Donald Trump put on the Supreme Court people that he said his main litmus test was the overturning of Roe v. Wade. That has created chaos and suffering in our country that is unimaginable. Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by two points in North Carolina, according to a recent poll.
A poll conducted by Quinnipiac University between April 4 and 8, 2024, found that Trump had a slight advantage over Biden among North Carolina voters.
The poll, which surveyed around 1,401 self-identified registered voters, had a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points. Out of those surveyed, 48 percent said they would vote for Trump, while 46 percent said they would vote for Biden. When asked who they would vote for if the choices also included Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Older women are particularly vulnerable to and can potentially die in heat waves.
This is a fact, and I will not dispute it.
What to do to alleviate the heat causing all the distress is the issue. There is plenty of room for disputation and some very loose play with facts.
As I age, I like what is commonly referred to as "air conditioning." When it's not warm enough to engage that system, I rely on other time tested, relatively energy efficient, and remarkably effective little miracles known as "fans." They are usually ceiling-mounted, but we do have a couple tower models to sweep the

Hamas has indicated it is currently unable to identify and track down 40 Israeli hostages needed for the first phase of a ceasefire deal, according to an Israeli official and a source familiar with the discussions, raising fears that more hostages may be dead than are publicly known.
The framework that has been laid out by negotiators says that during a first six-week pause in the fighting, Hamas should release 40 of the remaining hostages, including all the women as well as sick and elderly men. In exchange, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners would be released from Israeli prisons.
