Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) is withdrawing from the race for Speaker of the House after a brutal day that saw him hemorrhage support from between 30 and 40 Republican colleagues.
“Our conference still has to come together and we’re not there,” Scalise told his colleagues during a hastily called conference meeting at the Capitol. “There are still some people that have their own agendas.” (X) Scalise is expected to remain Majority Leader, although who will seek the Speaker’s gavel is not clear. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), currently Speaker Pro Tem, has been encouraged by some of his colleagues to seek the position permanently.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) finished second to Scalise

Gee, how convenient. With Congress in chaos because of a missing House Speaker, did we provide Hamas with the perfect timing opportunity to attack Israel while we're unable to conduct even basic business?
Ya think?

Good. Continuing the corrupt republican status quo in the House being led by Uniparty corrupt, communist death democrat stealth allies like McCarthy and Scalise had to change if we have even the smallest chance of saving our country. Scalise has been one of these worthless republicans in the House for many years. Same goes for the Senate. We need a radical change at the top of the republican party or we will not survive the communist death democrat imposition of a Stalinist regime which will result in the slaughter of millions of our fellow Americans. Yes, we have reached the Liberty or Death equation. Godspeed to all of us loyal patriots.

I have never heard Kevin Hern even talk about election security or the 2020 stolen election. Its like he is afraid of the subject. I think he would be a waste of time.

Isn't President Trump the head of the Republican Party? He gave his endorsement to Jim Jordan, so why aren't the Repubies/Rinos listening to him? I know, they're tied to the K Street lobbyists who hate Trump. Vote the squishes out in 2024, they are useless.

This is one of the key differences between the two parties. Dems vote in lockstep, Repubs attack each other. Just get behind Jordan and impeach Biden.

if our 'overthrowers' can't mount a cogent plan for transfer of power to carry out the group's supposed goals, it's ludicrous to think the Right could have mounted an "insurrection." this has been a pathetic display of a juvenile temper tantrum based on zero thought or planning. i am interested to know how the coffers of certain people who gravitated to the cameras have grown. they have degraded people's opinion of whether R's can govern. boo hiss. primary them. they are not serious people.

Pee Wee McHenry would be about the same thing as Paul Ryan. He is a rino liberal from the Charlotte, NC area and has never done one thing for conservatives in NC. He is a skunk.

I'm not sure why everyone is so upset. If this shuts down or slows down congress, it's a good thing. I do have an idea for them though. They should open up the speakership to volunteer citizens until they make up their minds about what they're doing. That would be fun to watch.

Be interesting to see if they all call it a Day and head home for the weekend. That would say a lot about members of Our Congress. They should stay all weekend and put an end to this mess! If they don't fix this, look for the Democrats to make some kind of move and take over, then dare anyone to challenge them! Probably would serve the Stupid Republicans right to have that happen! They sure haven't shown us that ANYONE in that Club has a clue how to manage the House.. Nancy must be getting a good laugh watching this Circus!

Hamas did not attack because McCarthy got the boot. Those animals don't even know what a Speaker of the House is. What's next, maybe Matt Goetz planned it with them?

Eight Republicans, with the help of Democrats, caused this debacle. Now they are responsible for it. This is not the time to play childish political games or try to look like a hero. Jim Jordan would be an awesome Speaker and he’s the best they’ve got. This needs to stop.

I don’t see a debacle. I see the wheels of a representative republic working. May not be pretty, but at least they are alive. The Biden regime is going to do whatever they want with regard to Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, etc., in blatant defiance of the Constitution, Congress and We The People. It makes no difference who the SOTH is.

Hamas' attack on Israel wasn't based solely on the fact that our House is in disarray. However, Hamas may have viewed a Speakerless House as an advantage---giving them an opportunity to strike Israel when their staunchest ally might not be able to deliver support as quickly or effectively as usual.
