Despite a cultural narrative that singles lead happier lives, married Americans report higher rates of happiness than their single counterparts.
A strong marriage is actually "the number one predictor of happiness in America today," says Brad Wilcox, a sociology professor at the University of Virginia and a fellow at the Institute for Family Studies.
"What we see in the research is that both men and women who are married are almost twice as likely to be happy compared to their fellow Americans who are not married," he told FOX News Digital.

Kansas has reached the next stage in its battle over government recognition of transgender identities. Democratic Governor Laura Kelly joined other Democratic state leaders in 2019 by allowing people to change the gender listed on their birth certificates. But the GOP-controlled legislature passed a new law this year overriding Kelly’s veto and defining gender as the sex of a person assigned at birth and ensuring that official state documents would reflect that reality.

The Soviets successfully pulled off a number of dirty tricks which increased their power but impoverished their citizens. Among them was to stir up class warfare by politicizing envy. Thus, unsuccessful farmers were urged to demonize and even kill “kulaks” -- that is, any productive farmer in the area. Another trick was to fail to provide factories with sufficient raw materials to fulfill the overly optimistic state-set production quotas and then criminally prosecute factory managers who couldn’t meet these targets as "saboteurs.” It deflected from their own failures but unsurprisingly resulted in a shortage of qualified managers and engineers.

The Susanna Gibson sex-for-money scandal has, to say the least, been one of the more eye-opening stories to come across the news wires this week. (snip)
a backstory has emerged alleging that one news organization knew in advance that the story would soon be breaking, but that instead of reporting it at the time they chose instead to alert Gibson that it was coming, which afforded her time to try and hide the evidence.
That organization? The Associated Press,

The sanctuary city of Chicago, Illinois, is facing a massive budget deficit due to illegal immigration, while non-governmental organizations (NGOs) rake in huge sums of taxpayer cash for providing services to border crossers and illegal aliens.
Since the summer of last year, Chicago has seen an influx of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens — 13,500 of which are living off taxpayers in the city’s shelter system.
According to Mayor Brandon Johnson (D), Chicago is now facing a $538 million budget deficit for next year as a result,

A recent study conducted at the University of Arkansas finds that men with heightened physical strength are perceived as more conservative by others.
The study found that men who seem fit and healthy and have some bulk are considered right-wing, while thin or svelte and weak-looking men were not assumed to lean right. The results came from a series of four experiments that sought to establish a link between political orientation and a fit physique, according to the Daily Mail.

Personal care brand Dove is facing a boycott after partnering with Black Lives Matter and “fat liberation” activist Zyahna Bryant, who ruined a white UVA student’s life in 2020 over a “misheard” remark. Now, #BoycottDove is trending on X/Twitter.
Dove recently partnered with Bryant — who spread a false rumor about a fellow University of Virginia (student) in 2020 — in a new and bizarre campaign to promote “fat liberation,” a move that resulted in the hashtag “#BoycottDove” to trend on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm blamed her staff's "poor judgment" on a recent incident when police were called on them for clogging electric vehicle (EV) chargers with a gas-powered car. (snip) "Let me just say, I have a fantastic young staff, just fantastic," Granholm told Franklin when asked about the incident. "It was poor judgment on the part of the team." (snip) Granholm also sidestepped blame during the back-and-forth with Franklin on Thursday, saying that it was not her that was "saving the spot." However, the charger was ultimately saved for her to use in an effort to avoid waiting in a long line.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito paused an order restricting the Biden administration's communications with social media companies after lower courts ruled officials engaged in censorship practices.
Alito's temporary hold on a federal judge's July 4 ruling comes after the Justice Department asked the high court to stay the decision, arguing it infringes on the First Amendment rights of government officials and impedes their duties. (snip)
The lawsuit, Missouri v. Biden, was filed last year by then-Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, claiming the federal government colluded with social media companies such as Twitter and Meta to suppress the freedom of speech.

A U.S. District Court judge ruled on Thursday that a school district policy requiring teachers to keep preferred pronouns from parents undermines their constitutional rights and “conflicts with knowledgeable medical opinion,” according to the decision.
Two teachers, Elizabeth Mirabelli and Lori Ann West, filed a lawsuit against the Escondido Union School District (EUSD) in April after the school board adopted a policy that says if a child identifies as a “new gender, or wants to be addressed by a new name or new pronouns during the school day,” then teachers must withhold it from parents unless given permission by the student, according to the ruling.

Former President Donald Trump dismissed concerns that President Joe Biden, 80, is too old to run for reelection in 2024, saying he is "not too old" but incompetent. (snip) "Age is interesting because some people are very sharp and some people do lose it — but you lose it at 40 and 50," according to Trump. (snip) "You look at some of the great world leaders — they were in their 80s," he said. "They were phenomenal in their 80s. There's a great wisdom if you're not in a position like [Biden], but if you go back 25 years, he wasn't the sharpest tack, either."

A left-wing nonprofit group whose activists were arrested for occupying House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) office to demand reauthorization of an HIV/AIDS program pockets millions of dollars each year in government grants, documents show.
