Ayn Rand has some prescient thoughts about
Democrats' avoidance of reality

Original Article

The consequences of avoiding reality are killing us … literally! American leaders and policy makers in the 21st century should have paid attention to the profound wisdom put forth by Ayn Rand in the last Millennium: “You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.” It pinpoints the basis for countless problems in America run by Democrats in recent years, clarifying why they occurred. Consider the following illustrations: 1. “You can avoid [the brain-dead] reality” of funding coronavirus gain-of-function research in a communist country whose long-term goal is to destroy you, “but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding [that] reality.”

Comments:

“Who is John Galt?” Anyone who has read this book recognizes all the signs and warnings Ayn Rand wrote in it.

And, just in time, having ravaged not just the country but the civilization, they will present us with a shiny new penny as if all the foregoing hadn't happened, and tell us to look forward to a new horizon, and to ignore the blasted and salted landscape. Coiffed in Brylcreem or Afro-sheen, sorry, I'll pass.

Funny she should be mentioned. We have been living "Atlas Shrugged" for a number of years now. DEI, government and corporate incompetence, the collapse of transportation and infrastructure, all of it.

I always wonder what Ayn Rand would say if she were alive today, and what changes (if any) she would make if she wrote a new version of Atlas Shrugged. The left would try to cancel her. Perhaps it's impossible to cancel a dead person.

#3 has it right-- We have been living "Atlas Shrugged" the last few years now.... Many people no longer read books anymore. Three movies were recently made from an adaptation of the book and are at least "made for TV" quality which ended up in three parts and featured three different casts of actors playing the parts which can be found online to stream for free. While production values were sparse, the actors and the acting were good! Google them up, and Rand's late 1950's book will be right before your eyes!

WE the people are fortunate to have had many doctors come out immediately as covid/china virus hit...and tell the truth...I also applaud Senator Rand Paul for his tireless attempts at calling fauci on the carpet...the millions of deaths world/wide are in fauci's pocket...he will stand judgment some day...that would be interesting to watch....as millions line up to give witness to fauci's attempt to decrease the world population....behind the scenes...it's always the globaloney dudes...who think they know best....

Some of us figured this out years, if not decades ago. But still, it is Nnice to see a few more people starting to realize that Ayn was a prophet; But still too many , even on 'our side' hate her for various reasons. And it makes me sad to realize how many people who DID read her more famous works consider Mr, Thompson. Floyd Ferris, Wesley Mouch, Ellsworth Toohey etc. to be the heroes of the stories.

Rand understood that humans are selfish, tribal, clannish, territorial and greedy. We often try to rise above these realities as best we can but her question was, “why?”. What Rand prescribed was simple: take care of your own, mind your own business and let others live their own lives.

The Republican Debate Was Unsatisfying
Because No One Addressed The Most Important Issue

The first Republican debate was a disappointing disaster—for the candidates and America. Not one of the questions addressed the elephant in the room. In fact, the list of questions selected by Fox News, which likely received enthusiastic approval from the Democrat Party, helped highlight the elephant. Candidates were asked about a viral blue grass song, inflation, Ukraine, China, Israel, and other foreign relations issues, crime, energy, the border, climate change, abortion, and more. But as important as these things are, they pale by comparison to the single most important issue, the one posing the greatest threat to our Republic since the 1850s.

I share with many ex-liberals a conversion story that is one of increasing rancor against liberalism. Since I hit my adulthood in the 1990s, the occasions are those of the Bush I, Clinton, and early Bush II era -- the unresisted fatwa against Salman Rushdie, monolithic Democratic support for Slick Willie during his impeachment trial, and, above all, 9/11, and the Democratic unwillingness even to say that we had Muslim enemies. The last is somewhat ironic, since I am now a considerably more isolationist conservative, but I did begin as a fairly neocon one. The usual ironies of life. But these conversion stories are not really adequate

A senior law professor at New York University Law, Professor Burt Neuborne, who is also the founding director of NYU’s Brennan Center, and perhaps ironically a former national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union, penned a Guest Essay (“There’s a Good Chance Trump Will Be Found ‘Willfully Blind’), which is a fascinating example of falsification and post hoc fallacy: he aggressively advances with astonishing mistruths that President Trump is already guilty based solely on accusations; makes from that particular false assumption, a false conclusion that the former president has limited legal remedies

Some truths are so staggering in their ramifications that Americans simply shrug and tune them out as if strangers in a strange land. Is their current bewilderment because modernist America is unrecognizable —a nonexistent border, downtown homeless juxtaposed to hipster professional elites, DEI racial essentialism, cities reverting to precivilizational wastelands, millions exiting blue states to red, an FBI and DOJ gone rogue, the normalization of violent theft and assault, biologically born men sandbagging women’s sports and their locker room privacy?

The illegitimate Deep State's war against Donald Trump and MAGA-supporting Americans has taken on a stench of defeat similar to that of the Gallipoli campaign during the First World War. In that botched attempt to take control of the Ottoman straits and seize Constantinople, the Entente powers suffered roughly 300,000 casualties over a year of desperate fighting just to make it off the beach. It is rightly considered a colossal failure of military planning and execution and a symbol of deadly Establishment hubris. The Battle of Gallipoli began in 1915.

Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans with Mother Nature’s fury in late August 2005, causing over 1800 fatalities and over $100 billion in property damage. Because a Republican president resided in the White House, the corporate media and Democrats took the opportunity to pounce on the disaster response. From “Heck of a job Brownie” to President George W Bush’s famous flyover in Air Force One high above New Orleans, the cost of human suffering was far less important to the media than the opportunity to stick it to President Bush.

On August 17, Vivek Ramaswamy was interviewed by Tucker Carlson. At the very beginning, Ramaswamy spoke candidly about 9/11: “I didn’t suggest it. I explicitly said that the government absolutely lied to us. The 9/11 Commission lied. The FBI lied to us.” After dropping that bombshell, Ramaswamy went on to describe a scenario that he says “doesn’t make much sense on the face of it.” He explained how a 42-year-old Saudi Arabian graduate student went to Los Angeles International Airport and, while there, met up with two Saudi nationals who went on to hijack a plane on 9/11, which they then crashed into the Pentagon.

The survey, conducted by the Times, found most Anglican priests think church teaching should be brought into line with public opinion on moral issues. Most priests support a change to allow gay couples to get married in church, with 53.4 percent in favor and 36.5 percent opposed, revealed the survey, which assessed responses from 1,200 active Anglican priests. The Church of England currently allows blessings for gay couples but only permits church weddings between a man and a woman.
