A recent major hail storm in western Nebraska took an entire solar farm out of commission, forcing the local community to turn back to traditional power sources, local officials said.
The so-called Community Solar Project – a 4.4 megawatt solar field comprised of 14,000 solar panels and located in Scottsbluff, Nebraska – is not currently operating and will remain offline until repairs are completed, the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital. NPPD, the state-owned public utility, and energy firm GenPro Energy Solutions developed the project in 2020.
"The solar complex was destroyed by hail," Scottsbluff City Manager Kevin Spencer said in an interview. "They're assessing the damage,

See at the high school science fair where they demo'ed this technology the kid whose project was Extreme Whether was way across the hall so it never occurred to anyone ask about such the venerability.
Before building our lives around it.

Hail is one problem. So are sub- zero temperatures. Lived in MT for 33 yrs and we had friends "off grid" who had panels trashed when we'd have temps at -20-30 or more.

Watched a program on Steve Bannon's War Room yesterday where we were told that several states are going to adopt more solar power even though you might only have sun four and one half hours in a day, the costs to implement the program are tremendous and taxpayers will be paying for it, the present power sources work perfectly fine as long as they are well-maintained and improved when necessary, and the usual terribly wealthy people will be made more terriblly wealthy because of the choice to rely on solar.
And that's what it's all about.

In West Michigan, Whitmer-D is closing a huge dependable coal power plant and going with solar. West Michigan has lake effect snow that covers solar panels, winds that can exceed 60mph + and clouds especially in the winter. They can go 30 days without full sun. I can't believe the waste of money and the uneducated decisions and policy that have been forced. Pathetic.
NE has wasted millions of dollars on those solar panels, now what? Liz Cheney was right, we do election stupid people, leftist democrats.

Awwww, that's too bad but millions of birds are thanking you. Just saw a documentary where 80% of the wind turbines in one particular farm in the sea off Europe are coming apart as the vibration is tearing their bases apart. They used grout to attach the blade support units to the bases and the grout is vibrating loose. Gee, Wally, who could have foreseen that?

As I've posted before - - - -
What we really need - - is to develop solar panels which work at night - - as well as during the day. That would solve all of our energy needs.
If I can think of that idea - - why can't all the "scientists" think of it?

Re#7
California thanks you for your idea. Any day now, the state will require solar panels to work at night within 10 years.
They did, after all, mandate zero emissions vehicles before a single model was ever brought to market.

How may people now do not have enough to eat because they removed those fields from the food chain? Where does it stop? It will require every field to be converted to panels in order to produce what is needed to power all the eCars they plan.

Wow! That’s as many broken panels as the employees of ENRON broke when their company went tests up!
